at 26. Yun napangasawa ko mayaman pero sobra sobrang humble at kuripot! How? Pamana. Thankful lang kasi kahit papaano nakapag start na kami business at napapaikot yun pera. Para sakin God leads the way if you surrender and be faithful lang blessing of heaven will overflow.

very inspiring stories from each of you.  i earn that much in my current job but sad to say, i still don't have that same amount to call my very own 'savings'.  in God's time, i'm slowly starting to save. and hopefully, by next year, I can post it here and say i'm one of you na mga sis. :)

Hi, I believe that you should set a purpose first on why you need to start to save. And you need to have a very compelling and hurting reason to motivate you to save (and invest!). I know it's gonna hurt you, but saving and investing 30% to 40% of your monthly salary will definitely speed up your goal of reaching your first million.

That means less eat-out, less Boracay/Palawan ;D, less Starbucks, less credit card usage, less of the usual.

^ oo nga sis e.  parang, ilang new year na nasabi ko i will start this etc.  pero di ko magawa.  and i was saying i'll be having no credits already dapat this year.  pero meron pa rin natira.  i won't say any other promises.  gagawin ko na lang.  salamat :)

sis, question, 30-40% of your gross or net salary?  naiinis kasi ako sa tax!  ang laki-laki!  hehe!

just want to share. i earn low and i have a kid so it's hard to save. but every time i receive my salary i make it a point to set aside a little for saving and really budget my expenses. sometimes i feel sorry for myself coz i feel i'm depriving myself. but everytime i feel low i just try to think positive na save now and when i am able to save and start my own business i will be able to enjoy three folds. malayo pa ko sa million ko. and because gusto k magbiz i would prob invest rather than save up to that amout. i am always praying for patience. nakakastress kasi mag budget pang konti lang pera. haha. so i always pray to be patient na lahat ng ginagawa ngayon na sacrifices will bear fruits in the future.

^disiplina ang kailangan para makamit mo yung 'million' mo. madami ka pang dadaanang pagsubok because it's not easy. yung unang milyon ang medyo challenging. but when you get the hang of it, mas madali na yung pangalawa, pangatlong milyon and so on...

it's not how much you earn. may mga sumasahod ng doble, trpe pa sa kinikita mo pero mas madami pa silang utang kesa sa iyo. discipline will get you to that 1M :)

I agree with you sister showermist. But once you have your first million, it becomes like a drug.. Nakaka addict na mag save. :)

pero shempre if i have a bigger salary getting to that million will happen sooner. i am planning to have my own biz or work abroad. coz i want to have mine before i turn 31. i am turning 27 so i have almost 4 years. so kung pag-iipon lang talaga ng sweldo, kahit wala pa akong gastusin at wala pang tax ang sweldo ko hindi aabot ng 1 million in 4 years ganun sya kababa.

ayan i already made a breakdown of where my salary will be going.  Since I have outstanding CC pa, I opted a percentage to pay it off (and eventually from my breakdown, i can pay it off in 3 mos), pero i still allocated something for my savings.  Eventually, once clear ko na si CC, then that percentage will be added to my savings.  :) hopefully, next year, everything will be in place and i will be enjoying my 1st million :)

^^Like what's said in that Confessions of a Shopaholic book, there are two ways to have more money: to CB - Cut Back and to MMM - Make More Money.

At first, I also did the cutting back, the simple living, the frugal lifestyle. I wrote down every single centavo I spent. I stuck to my budget.

I still do many of those things but I realized that rigorously doing that made me macuenta. Also made me stingy and miserly. So I switched my focus to making more money. And oh my gosh, thinking up of ways to make more moolah is so much more exciting and fun! :)

One financial advice I took to heart is to invest in yourself. Invest in your knowledge and skills. Nothing will pay off more. Your earning capacity is ultimately what will define how small or how big your wealth will be.

Maybe you can hold off muna saving and put your allocation for savings in paying off the credit card? Kasi CC debt accumulates interest... so even if you are saving, napupunta sa interest. The sooner you clear your cc debt, the earlier you get out of the rut. I learned this in Unleash program... strategy in clearing cc debt... There are lots of strategies for clearing cc debts that you can research on... :) Pero seriously, ang laki kasi ng interest aside from the finance charge (which they charge if may outstanding no matter how small), that it will be sooooo worth it to pay off CC than saving muna... Actually, dun sa seminar, they revealed that most cc companies agree to shave off some interests for accounts na they consider hard to collect and the customer gives proposal...

sometimes i feel sorry for myself coz i feel i'm depriving myself.

Di naman deprived sis, isipin na lang natin, delayed gratification. Pero ganto din nafefeel ko non. Change your thoughts, and your conditions will change na lang ang ginawa ko non. Go for millions!

oh my i so love this thread! na inspire talaga ako...i feel like i am running out of time na kasi dati ang goal ko by the age of 30 milyonarya na ako...i had a lot of great ideas, i even tried some of them kaso hindi lahat nag succeed nakaka frustrate din minsan...pero there is this small voice that keeps on telling me na just keep going! wala pa ako sa first million ko pero everytime naririnig ko yung small voice na yun na eenergize ako...now I made a decision to start my own small business...at first hindi maganda profit pero since one month pa lang ako sa business hindi rin ako nag eexpect ng malaki kaso once na frustrate ako may nagsabi saken bakit sumusuko na agad ako e kakaumpisa ko pa lang...i think i made the right choice to take that first step...sana maging katulad nyo rin ako one day...may point din naaawa ako sa sarili ko pag napapagod ako pero iniisip ko na lang na part to ng success na hinahangad ko...one day magiging inspiring story din lahat ng pinagdadaanan ko ^_^ more success to us! cheers!
