thinking about this thread. I should have reached my first million if I have studied financial literacy when I was younger. I have tried several failed businesses and now, I have a bad credit tuloy... I hope its not too late yet.

^Okay lang yun sis basta learn from your mistakes. Remember all successful people failed several times just like the founder of KFC. Thousands of times siya na-reject before it rose to fame. Ilang manok, breading at gas ang pinuhunan din niya. It's never too late for you to reach your dreams. 8)

investment is very important. kahit ilan milyones ang pera (unless nalang 100M) haha! baliwala kung nakatengga lang, importante na mag invest.

also i do agree don't feel bad kung wala kang milyon but you have your own property kasi most people kaya din sila nag iipon because they want their own property. iba feeling ng may sarili kang bahay talaga e. karamihan tumanda nalang din, wala pang sariling bahay (unless by choice yun?).

Kami ng hubby ko naubos halos lahat ng savings namin after our wedding kasi pinang bili ng bahay and lahat ng gamit sa bahay. but no regrets. we were able to have our own house at the age of 25 years old. :) ngayon tuloy tuloy ulit ang ipon.

ang importante alam mo saan napupunta pera mo at worth it ang napupuntahan. :)

not too late syempre. ok lang magkamali, ang impt natututo.. walang taong successful na hindi nagkamali.

... Ako 25 na rin ako at wala pa akong napupundar bukod sa nakatira pa ako sa mga magulang ko. Pero I can say nasa 6 digits naman na ang pera ko na diversified portfolio, ininvest ko sa stocks at VUL. May TD ako which is wrong move kasi roughly 4% interest lang yun per annum kaso hindi ko malakad ngayon para ilipat ko ng mutual fund. Anyways hopefully before I reach 30 may condo, apartment for rent, kotse at iba pang business na ako.

sis, ano yung VUL?

^Ako rin sis nainspire ako after ko nakinig (sorry di ako nagbasa) sa audiobook ng Rich Dad, Poor Dad,  and Rich Woman (Kim Kiyosaki--wife niya). Kaso ngayon di ko alam pano magsimula. I'm 21 and so far may naipon na akong 250K by working. So mejo marami pang time. Pero gusto ko na makapag-invest.  :-\

If you really want to make your first million without spending too much money and have a steady flow of money every month, Kiyosaki recommends network marketing.  Try looking up his book "the Business of the 21st Century", it's a book he wrote entirely explaining why he and Donald Trump are advocates of it. I'm halfway through the book and it really does make sense.  The only thing you need to learn is how to distinguish a true MLM from one that operates a scam or pyramiding so you can choose the right company to join.

sis, ano yung VUL?

VUL- Variable Universal Life Insurance. I have a VUL policy with Philam. So far so good. So galing pa ng agent ko kasi, she sends me reports every month, for me to check yung progress ng investment ko.

Wow, great story sis beach, very inspiring. Yes, wala ka talagang talo sa real estate as this is passive income at it's finest given that you really dont need to do anything and your house or condo is making you money. It's the most expensive to get into pero its the one with most security as land rarely depreciates. Also, for all the other sisses out there, here are two sites you can download the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad for free. The first is an ebook and the second is an audio book. Enjoy! :)

Great post, beach.  Galing; it takes perseverance and sipag to reach your first million talaga.  And admire your passion for investing and stock market.  As much as I want to investing on stock market, katiting lang alam ko sa stock market, and I can't find time to read and research.

i am teary-eyed nung nakapag-backread ako dito mga sis.
it was like another eye-opener for me. :(

im 22, i had a steady job since i am 18 years old. I never had a problem getting a job and getting promoted sa current line ko ngayon which is in the BPO industry for about 5years now. Naisip ko, antagal ko ng nagttrabaho, pero wala pa kong malaking savings.

 :'(
ang sakit. now i entered a reputable MLM company, pero hindi ko parin sineseryoso. papetiks petiks parin. naisip ko, nasa pag-iisip ko rin lang talaga ang problema kaya hindi ako nakakapagsave at isa pa, ang gastos ko rin sa mga luho ko. ni hindi ko nga alam if sa laki ng sinweldo ko within the past years eh naka-1M narin ako. Yun talaga yung nakakaiyak eh...

So glad i read this thread, nakakainspire yung mga struggles na pinagdaanan nyo pero worth it naman in the end
That's my goal for 2013. I will start investing on information, i already downloaded kiyosaki's book (rich dad, poor dad) i am also starting to read articles about investing.

i will not forget this thread at kapag nakuha ko na rin yung first 1M ko, i will share it here too. more power mga sis!

i'm almost 30 na no savings at may utang pa. Inspired by beach, will try to have a capital to start a small online business also by next year. But before that, sabi nga ni sis Frozen bayaran muna mga utang so need to pay the 10k SSS loan muna. I'm working online now, breadwinner ng pamilya since walang regular income si husband. Even though I work part time hopefully eh makapag save naman next year. Kawawa naman mga anak ko walang savings :(

@joban99... Oo. By 2013, papasukin ko na talaga real estate... pero for now, research muna. :)

@ReservoirDogs... thank you. i started with no knowledge din sa stock market... find time to read. no better time than the present. :) God bless.

@ikaela... napa-blush ako sa first statement mo. thanks! :) grabe yung pinagdaanan mo... but you stood by your man and you were able to turn something bad to something great! so happy for you. I want to earn rental income, too... next year project ko sya, hehe. Regarding our insatiable appetite for knowledge (soooo true, insatiable na talaga at this point, hehe), suggest ko sis to check Youtube also... for now, I watch shoptalk anc series on money... topics like money mindset, money resolutions, money mistakes, etc... super informative. :) started watching just last week lang when I "rediscovered" Youtube.

@chichi... anything is possible talaga... just have the determination and believe. And have the discipline to stick to your plan.

@sether... agree ako with sis Frozen, especially if your debts are interest-bearing... unahin mo yun para ma-stop yung labas ng pera on interests! :) God bless sis!

@beach: Thanks for the recommendations! Will definitely have to peruse YouTube more. Favorite ko din yang mga YouTube videos, sila Dave Ramsey, Suze Orman, yung mga TED talks, speeches and other motivational stuff. I watch Shoptalk on TV -- dami business ideas! I'm sure marami din dito na maiinspire dun. Yung ANC money okay din siya pero naiinis ako sa interview style ni Melissa Gecolea. Her questions and comments don't really draw anything from the interviewee -- parang she just wants to hear own voice. But I think she's one of the producers of that show so I have to salute her for a great idea.

@chichi143: I actually wish I had the same realization when I was your age. Don't worry, you're on the right track. :) Even if you don't have savings yet, you are on your way to developing the right mindset, attitude, principles and habits regarding money. And that's key, the foundation to wealth. Good luck!

@Sether... GO GO GO! :) Cash Flow Quadrant is nicer... but Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a FANTASTIC read din. :)

@ikaela... Super nga. Namahalan kasi ako sa seminar fees. I paid almost 3K on a Francis Kong seminar... okay naman pero not worth 3K. Someone mentioned na may free Chinkee Tan seminar na naka-upload... Kaya I started checking Youtube... and voila, ang dami nga! hehe. Sige sis, i will check out yung mga sinabi mong speakers. :) Thanks thanks! Excited na ako for the weekend para maka-Youtube. hehe. :)
