Travelling (by air) during pregnancy

On my first pregnancy, we went to boracay siguro i was around 16-18 wks then. Di naman ako nahirapan papunta but sa plane pauwi(asian spirit pa nun plane namin), super nainitan ako na parang nahirapan huminga. When we landed everything was fine nanaman.
This pregnancy umuwi kami ng daughter ko, melbourne to manila, 8 hrs via pal. I was 12 wks then and had some spotting. A day before we got our tickets I had an utz and baby was ok, had no contractions so decided to push through going home. Was praying lang all the while kasi hubby wasnt w/me. Thank God ok yung trip, and di din ako nag nausea sa smell, naubos ko pa nga food ko. We asked for assistance pala and the person who met us pagdating sa manila was a big help

its better sis na mag stay ka na lang muna kung nasan ka man at iwasan nga ang magbyahe. basta we will be praying for your safe and on time delivery. lapit na ako umuwi..excited na ako. hindi ko pa nasasabi sa doctor ko na gusto ko mag extend ng few days. how i wish, pumayag.

sis, end of this month din ako uuwi. pinakiusapan ko na talaga ang baby boy ko na mag behave sa plane at dalawa lang kami mag aassist sa isat isa. 28 weeks naman ako at that particular time sis. sana sabay na lang tayo..heheh

sis oct 25 or 26 pako uwi ng pinas..31 weeks nako by that time..sabay ka nalang sakin..hehe.. afraid pa nga ako kasi yung ticket ko staff ticket ng etihad..binili ko lang sya sa friend ko na sa Etihad ngwowork..MEron kaya dito na gumamit ng staff ticket??tpos preggy pa? di kaya hassle samin ni baby??

im here in abu dhabi.. im planning to return to the phil on my 28th week (Dec 1st week) . dahil safe yun to travel pa and pwede pa sa plane. due ko on February.

ang problema ko yung work ko dito 45 days lang kasi ang maternity leave, pano kaya ako magpaalam na bumalik ng pilipinas on december . pwede ba yung annual leave tapos derecho na ng maternity leave...

^I think that would really depend if your company will allow it. I guess you can try to negotiate and explain nalang na it's also risky for you to take flights during an advanced stage of pregnancy. Maybe a note from your doctor would help.

I think I'm being overly paranoid but I hope everything will be alright during my flight. I'll be exactly 10 weeks on Sunday. It's a 12hr 50 minute flight from Hong Kong to Paris.

It will depend on your company. Ako non nalaman kong pregnant ako nagsabi agad ako sa company ko na magreresign ako after my original contract expires (October 2012). Hindi nila ako pinayagan kaya binigyan nila ako ng option, maximum maternity leave plus more than a month vacation or totally leave the company. Pumayag ako since its both beneficial for me and the management. Try mong makipagnegotiate, malay mo pumayag sila. Wish you luck!!

Uuwi  na rin ako by December 1 siguro. I have to finish my pending work pa kase. First week of Feb.ang EDD ko.

I tried travelling by air on my 35th week, intnl flight for 18 hrs.. Up to 30-32 wks i think is allowed but i really need to go home bec i had to give birth here in the phil.. My OB there wrote on my medical cert that i was only on my 30th...it really wasnt obvioused bec im petite and my tummy wasnt that big, i just wore black maternity dress when i took my flight..

When i was there on the plane i realized why they dont allow preg women to travel beyond their 32nd wk..my god, i really had contractions, i was sitting near the comfort room so it wasnt really diffucult for me..but sitting for 18 hrs?! I was really praying hard not to deliver on the plane bec i delivered my 1st baby via cs, and i dont want to be on the headlines the ff day..thank god, i arrived safely, though my OB here prescribed duphaston for me bec of preterm labor..i gave birth 3wks after via cs.. Praise god!

oh my... i will be travelling dubai to manila on my 34w , and it's a 10 hrs flight, although kasama ko naman husband ko, pero kinakabahan  pa din ako. i can't stretch my leave na kasi. combined maternity at annual leave na nga ako pero that is the earliest week that i can leave lang hays.

allowed naman kasi sa emirates ang mg travel up to 36w as long as may doctor's certificate ka that you are fit to travel, pero scared pa din ako.

should i bring pillows on board ba? what should i bring with me inside the plane to make my trip comfortable ba?

JQ is not accepting pregnant woman who is 36 weeks and above. Who has complications and delicate pregnancy. When you make a reservation and you're pregnant we usually request for a medical certificate upon checking in at the counter. Kapag wala kang med cert from the doctor indicating that you can travel domestic/ international, may right si Airline company to refuse you to accept on board.

I suggest u bring a neck pillow..they have small pillows on the plane, you can place that on ur low back area.. And sit near the comfort room..

We went on an EU trip when I was 2 months pregnant. Imagine, i endured a 14 hour flight and sleeping was really difficult but I guess, I forgot whatever inconvenience because of my excitement over the trip. At the airport, I still went through the usual scanning. In Schipol, whole body scan nga. I do think it's safe for pregnant women because it only took me a few seconds to go through the process.

Looking back, the only regret I have was that I was choosy with food while in the plane, I end up not savoring the whole Turkish food experience (we flew via Turkish Airlines).

OOT: actually they are trying to take me out na ngaun kasi sa maiincur ko pang leave (maternity leave). wala naman akong laban legally kasi they can make up some excuses to push me out just to avoid the pending fully paid maternity leave

may habit na kasi ngayon ang company namin to push people out whenever they wanted to.

if ever that would be the case, do you know if it  is possible for me to resign then take my maternity leave as my notice period?

Hi Sissies! It's all safe to travel by plane up until 36 weeks. I've travelled from Dubai to Manila at week 10. And then I travelled from Manila to Norway (total 16 hours flight with 6 hours lay over in Paris) that was when I was 18 weeks. Then travelled from Norway to Spain at week 30. I was supposed to travel again at week 34 to accompany my hubby for a short job assignment in Riyadh but then I got pre eclampsia so my doctor didn't allow me. I was 32 years old then and preggy with my first baby . That was 8 years ago
So don't worry it's okay to travel by plane whilst pregnant.

That was 8 years ago Sis! Di na kaya ng powers ko mag air travel & go back to Phil's when I was pregnant last year with my 2nd daughter . But here in Europe where I'm based, I think if inside Europe you can still travel up to 36 weeks with doctors certificate. So airlines here allows up to that late in pregnancy. Di ko Lang sure Kung outside Europe travel they allow that...Baka nga hindi na pwede.

We went to HK when i was 13 weeks pregnant and i didn't have a med certificate with me kasi dapat check  up ko a day before the trip but my emergency si OB.  Nung nag check in kami nagask if may pregnant daw ba sa amin so i said yes but i dont have a med certificate and im only 13 weeks pa lang naman. Good thing ok lang naman daw but i need to sign a form pero pag balik namin i did not declare na nung nag check in kami kasi hindi naman nagtanong. Pero nung boarding na the FA asked me if im pregnant so i said yes and after a few minutes i was wondering kung bakit ang tagal mag close ng plane eh mukhang complete naman kami then  pabalik balik ang mga FAs yun pala hinahanap ako tapos pinuntahan pa ako nung mga ground crew kasi i have to sign the form daw. They thought i was 30 weeks pregnants na kaya nataranta sila! Sobrang hassle kasi hindi p naman halata yung tummy ko.

Sa first  baby ko i was 5 months pregnant when i went to china and i did not declare it as well kasi flat pa rin naman tummy ko and hindi naman ako nagka problem.

I flew recently to Davao, almost 6 weeks pregnant (recently lang to). Yung Manila to Davao na flight, I had to see their doc to have me sign papers din. Nashock nga ko kasi ni hindi pa nga prominente yung bump and all, kelangan may ganun na. Pero, yung flight from Davao to Manila, same airline, wala lang. Di na ko tinanong nung sa check-in so nagulat ako. Sinabi ko na lang, then ayun pirmahan na lang sa counter without a doc or anything. Nung boarding na, wala lang, walang pake yung tumatanggap ng pass dun sa paper as compared sa Manila to Davao, tinanong pa kung sino yung kasama ko etc.

I'll be flying to Hong Kong this New Year, nakabook na kasi flight namin. mga 19 weeks na siguro ako by that time. Natakot tuloy ako baka harangin ako or something.
