was searching for a thread here in GT for stepparenting support. Didn't see one so I decided to create one.

I'd like to start by introducing myself.

Hi, I'm sugarpop*. Stepmommy to an 11 year old girl. I am 26 while my husband is 37. Hubby was never previously married.

Stepdaughter's Biological mom (BM or biomom) comes from a typical C-D Pinoy family. At the moment, my Mother in Law (MIL) pays for her rent so she can live near where hubby and I live. Otherwise, Stepdaughter will need to travel back and forth to Cavite.

BM loves using the provided rented place as her clan (read: clan, not just family) pseudo rest house in manila. Hubby ends up paying high utility bills because she likes to cram around 10-15 people in the small place intended for her daughter.

What's your stepmommy story?

Hi sugarpop,

So si stepdaughter mo lives with her biological mom most of the time? Wala pa kayong baby ni hubby? Nagkikita at nagkakausap ba kayo nung biological mom?
Ano ba story ni husband mo at nung girl at bakit hindi sila nagkatuluyan?

^ Sis, my MIL had to pay rent and even pay for the Bio mom's tuition for culinary school. Ang kwento kasi, when my hubby broke it off with the Bio mom, my hubby got them a separate place to live at na.  she went ballistic and dragged her daughter to my husband's house (where he was living alone) and smashed the window to get in. She even sliced my hubby's hand with a knife. To think yung daughter niya was 2 to 3 years old lang and nakatayo lang while she was trying to knife my hubby (hindi ko pa sila kilala noon and I was not in the scene yet)

Tinago niya sa Valenzuela yung bata. My MIL had to come home from abroad to bargain and reason with her. I guess part of the deal was a place in city (a far cry from Valenzuela, where she is from) and a Diploma from a Culinary school.

Ang kwento is, Hubby and the girl weren't even really together. Wild child medyo si girl eh. When they met may tattoo na etc at age 23 and drop out from school. Chismis within the family is she's a GRO or at least worked in a girly bar like at the reception or something. She's had other BFs pero with my hubby lang nabuntis only after 4 months of casually meeting up. My hubby is a foreign citizen. Kaya everyone thinks habol niya was money. Eh my hubby naman, coming from a broken family, took full responsibility of the child. He did not even do a paternity test.

So from the start, hindi niya talaga gusto yung girl. Napasubo lang kasi nga nabuntis. Ang sabi pa, the girl said hindi daw siya mabubuntis (I guess maybe she was saying she's on the pill?).

Grabe nga raw yung Biological mom when she gave birht, biglang ahon sa hirap. May driver, 2 maids, etc. Nakarating pa abroad kasi nga my MIL is based in Australia. Kaya siguro she went ballistic when she realized my hubby doesn't want to marry her.

I've met the Bio Mom several times. Okay lang. I'm civil.

Here's the funny part, pag time ng Bio mom to get my stepdaughter, lagi na lang may reason kung bakit hindi pwede and the stepdaughter stays with us. Most of the time, it's because kailangan niyang alagaan yung mga anak ng ate niya na OFW in Dubai.

Mabait ang husband and MIL mo.  Be thankful for that.  Now, yun BM naman from your narration ay masasabi nating may question ang character.  I'm not a lawyer but what she did can be contested as making her unworthy as a parent.  However, yun important is the overall growth structure ng child which will be affected kung nagkaroon ng issue yun.

He he, yan ang mga situations wherein I ask Him why hindi pwede may exception sa paggamit ng major special art to solve some problems. I do my evening prayers.

The only option we can go for is fix her mind but that would still seem to be a tall order yet.

^ hehe...thanks sis.

She is definitely and unfit mother. And, in most cases, the family would petition for full custody away from someone like her.

In this case, my MIL and Hubby have a different plan. If they petition for full custody kasi, chances are the chidl will hate them thinking that they took her away from her real mom. They believe that the girl will know who is right and wrong in time.

^true, my high school friend is closer to her stepmom more than her biological mom. nice naman yung bio mom kaya lang si stepmom na nag-alaga sa kanya and her brother since grade school. mahal nila stepmom nila. sabi nga ng brother niya dati na kaya wala pa siyang gf kasi wala pa siyang nahahanap like his mama, the stepmom. ang sweet. in time, the stepdaughter will grow to love you baka nga more than her real mom lalo na ganyan pala ugali.

At the moment, i do not want to compete with the mom. Nanay niya yun eh...mindset is, no matter what I do, the mom is the mom.

All I can do right now is take care of my SD. Hope and pray that she doesn't hate me or something like that because of things her maternal relations do or say.

^ yup you are definitely right.  The stepmom can never replace the real mom.  Compensate ang pwedeng gawin of a stepmom.

signing in...

hubby has a 5 y/o daughter. never married the bio-mom and hubby is not declared the father of the child kasi bio-mom's condition was to marry her para mapangalan sa hubby ko yung baby. hubby and i met when they separated kasi si bio-mom acted like a queen sa house nila hubby. lumayas si hubby and she stayed there for two months. then pinalayas na siya ng papa ni hubby kasi according to my father in law bakit hindi ang anak nila ang kasama nila sa bahay nila. anyways fastforward na to 2007, baby was born 2005. kami na ni hubby, even if hubby is not declared the father, he would send money for the kid. and the bio-mom would bring the kid to the grandparents and everytime dadalhin yung bata laging may money na kapalit. hindi namin binrainwash yung bata but parang weird lang na everytime kukunin na siya ng mom niya nagwawala as in super iyak and ayaw sumama. after three years of being togetehr asn bf-gf, we got married and she is one of our flower girls. my stepdaughter loves me as her own mommy na din. i know kasi she would always embrace and kiss me. parang mas malapit pa siya sa amin than her bio-mom. madami din kwento yung kid na i think that's the reason why lumayo loob niya sa mom niya. like papalit palit ng bf yung mom niya. sa papa niya kasi which is my hubby, ako lang nakilala niya na wife, sa mama kasi daw niya iba-iba. right now she lives with us, since december 8 kasi nasa amin na siya. nagtataka ako sa mom niya why hindi siya kinuha or sinilip man lang nung xmas and new year...

^ grabe sis...parang pareho tayo ng situation almost.

Sometimes yung BM mukhang pera din. Yung SD ko, there was a time, umiiyak na kasi ni-text man lang walang nakuha from her mom duriing the holidays (she was around 7 or 8 nun). When my husband (then Fiance) confronted the BM, ang sagot ba naman "hayaan mo siya, nag-iinarte lang yan". I mean, diba siya ang nanay? how can she say na her own daughter is just being a crying brat when the daughter was crying kasi nga worried na about her and miss na miss na siya...

There are just some people who shouldn't even be mothers.

yuh sis... there was even a time na she said that she's gonna enrol her kid since 5y/o na. this was in june. she asked 18k for "pandagdag" daw for the tuition. my MIL said that it's too much, me thinking that she's gonna enrol the kid in a good school told MIL na tuition fee's are high these days. BM studied and graduated in a good school as per hubby from kinder to college so i thought she thinks of giving the same kind of education to her daughter... lo and behold.... she did not enroll her daughter, she hired a private tutor for the child and she bought herself a laptop... how did we know? her daughter told us. ayun super galit na galit si hubby and my inlaws oh well... sabi ko nga kay hubby digital na ang karma ngayon. we enrolled my SD in a kinder school near our house. i'm a proud step-mommy because everytime i come home from work, my SD shows the star on her hand :) i'm accompanying her on thursday on her field trip ;)

we have a club?

sign me in. i'm 26 my hubby is 35, he's got 2 son's from previous marriage 13 and 10, I've been taking care of them for 3 years now, hubby and I also have a kid of our own, she just turned 1.

The Bm left hubby for another man, the kid never saw her again from the day she left their house. that was 6 years ago.

Everything was fine when the kids were younger, but now I'm having problems with the eldest, pasaway na and hindi na nakikinig. He'll do what he wants when he wants and super sinungaling.

the hard part is most of the time, their dad is not around because he's a seafarer. so I'm left alone to look after the kids and the eldest wouldn't listen to me anymore.

^Oh no sis...sorry to hear about your predicament.

Ang hirap talaga. I am sure the child has some sort of emotional damage because the mom left (or in his mind, left him)

When your hubby comes home, you have to tell him na lang siguro to discipline the son. And he has to show that you have authority to discipline as well. Siguro by talking to his son in front of you and saying na kailangan niyang makinig sayo...

How long have you gusy been married?

not married sis, nag iipon pa pang annulment.

I've known him for 4 years, when we decided to be together, as in together agad with his kids, instant mommy ako.

the difference between my two step sons, when you ask the younger boy what's the name of his mom, he'll say my name, ask him again the name of his real mom he'll say for him I'm his real mom, kulitin mo pa sya he'll say, he doesn't care about his real mom.

But the the older son when you ask him ofcourse he'll say his real mom's name.

We used to be ok, but unfortunately nakikialam ang mga sisters ni hubby.

They don't like me. they used to take care of the kids so they get the kids allowance that they don't spend for the kids. When I came into the picture of course and the kids stayed with me. the money stops. And all there kalokohan was unraveled when we found out that the tuition fees were unpaid, that the kids doesn't get their lunch money, etc...  Hubby wanted to turn his back on his family but i told him, kadugo sila, ang asawa napapalitan pero kapatid mo hindi. So after awhile nagpupunta na ulit yung kids dun sa bahay ng tita nila to play with their cousins, yung older son ang mahilig pumunta dun kasi he was allowed to play computers as long as he wants.. yun pala, as per my younger step son's sumbong, the tita we're brainwashing them. So my younger step son doesn't want to go to his tita's house anymore.

sabi ko kay hubby, he should find a way na masuheto nya yung bata, dahil hindi kami darating sa point na papipiliin ko sya between me or his son.

medyo mahina rin kasi yung older son eh, laging pasang awa sa school, maybe he doesn't remeber how they were treated when they were living with his tita, pero that younger son who is an honor student, hindi nya nakalimutan how badly they were treated that the thought of him moving back to his tita scares him..

Sometimes I find it easiest to "ignore" her antics. Not really ignore but just show her that doing bad things will not earn her additional attention.

Super lucky mo sis that the younger boy, maaga pa lang alam na niya what love you are giving him.

In the end, pag nagiging pasaway si SD, pinapatay ko sa pagmamahal :-) In the end, siya bigla iiyakand will say sorry. Mahirap, especially when she has topak, masakit sa akin when she's being mean. Plus, her BM is around so I really cannot compete kung hindi ako lang ang talo.

Try mo one time kaya to sit down with your older SS and ask him what he wants?

guilleanne

  • Guest
I had a sit down na with him, I cried pa nga.

wa epek!

baka sadyang matigas talaga ulo sis.

im thinking if he still have his real mom, baka ganyan din siguro katigas ulo nya.

awww sorry to hear what you're going through sis.

so far ok naman kami ni step-daughter. same with your younger stepson sis guilleanne, ako ang sinasabi niya na mommy niya even sa school nila.

sorry sis clueless din ako sa ganyan situation i'll pray for you and your step son at sa stepdaughters natin sis sugarpop. wag naman sana umabot or dumating yung time na our SDs will treat us badly. siguro misguided lang siya. nagrerebelde kasi siguro somehow he feels unaccepted.

dunno pero i think i read somewhere na yung adopted kids when they learn na hindi sila tunay na anak nagrerebelde. kasi daw they have a fear of being kicked out of the house anytime since hindi nga sila tunay na anak. so before pa sila ma kick out ayun nagrerebelde na. ahm mai-rerelate din kaya natin to sa stepson mo? baka feeling niya dadating yung time na he'll be kicked out of the house or will no longer be part of the family lalo na you and his dad have a baby pa.

sorry napahaba...

I'm married for 2 years . ever since alam ko na naman na may anak yung husband ko kaya naisip ko matutunan ko din syang mahalin in time. she's already 7 years old living with us she's aware of her bio-mom. me and my hubby has a 2 yrs old baby. there are times na love na love nya yung baby sis nya there are times naman na inaaway nya or inaagawan ng kahit na ano yung hawak ng anak para manginis lang at paiyakin yung anak ko na HATE NA HATE ko.
I like my SD but not the love of a mother like im loving my own child. I cant stand her smell kahit na tumabi saken sa pagtulog ayoko. Isipin nyo nang masungit ako pero iba talaga ang smell ng anak ko kesa sakanya pero hindi naman bad smell it's just that iba eh.
Alam ko magkakasama na kami habang buhay kaya I better learn how to live with her.
