Samsung Galaxy tab

To anyone who is familiar or has bought this gadget, please share its specs, disadavantages and advantages or if it's better to get this instead of the Ipad? I really want to have some more info before getting one esp since medyo pricey sya than most cellphones. I am not really techie but this one has caught my eye since I came across it. I'd really appreciate some feedback. TIA!

Hi, I just bought one and so far I am very satisfied with it. I have borrowed an Ipad before, though it is a fantastic device, I felt that it was not right for me, andaming kulang and the size is too big for me.

Let me enlist some of the reasons why the Galaxy Tab is better:
1. Front facing cam for video calling, though I have not tried video chatting with it yet.
2. Back camera, decent pictures but amazing 720p videos.
3. Can play flash web content, this is very important for as I use weebly for my blogging. I cannot do this on Ipad or if possible kailangan pa ng jailbreak.
4. The screen size, for me 7" is the perfect size, big enough for web and video content yet small enough to fit in my pocket.
5. Better pixel density than Ipad
6. Got the latest version of bluetooth 3.0, downloaded the bluetooth file transfer app from android market and I can move files from laptop and my tab easily.
7. The tab's RAM is 512mb, Ipad is only 256mb
8. Storage is expandable via micro SD card
9. Weight, very convenient to use kahit nakahiga ako.
10. Phone capability, though I'm diverting it to my other line kasi nakakahiya sagutin sa tab, ang laki he he he.
11. Can play most music and video files without the need for converting and transferring via Itunes. Drag and drop lang.

Though the Ipad is more popular and they have more apps available, I've decided to buy the tab because of the flash capability and its size. Yung other features bonus na lang.

The only bug that I've noticed lang with my tab is sometimes when I turn on the camera, lumalabas yung last frame ng video na pinanood ko sa preview pane. sometime it happens, sometimes it doesn't. When it happens I just restart the device then everything is ok na. Yun lang naman ang nakita kong bug, I hope they will fix it on the upcoming software update.

Thank you for the feedback sis, now i am more partial than ever in getting a tab vs. the ipad.. If I may ask, how much did u buy it for? 34,500 pa rin? Anyway, i was hoping they would release a 2nd or 3rd gen 1Q next year so it will be more upgraded. My only worry is that it could be like the iphone andami glitches on the 1st version tapos they had it fixed on its successor or newer models na.. nonetheless, based on your review, i think sulit pa rin sya

I still prefer the ipad kasi mahilig ako sa games at mas maraming apps ang ipad. I also use rin naman my ipad as a cellphone thru Skype.
Although ang advantage naman ni Samaung Galaxy, talagang cellphone sya na may camera pa at videocam.
Although very hard din to use as a phone pag nagmamadali ka or namamasyal ka sa mall or something kasi you need to use pa an earphone.
I think kanya kanyang preference pa din.

hi red! good to know you're handed with a galaxy tab na.

my dad's about to buy this, kaso inistop ko siya kasi for around 30,000 (600usd plus monthly data plan of 40usd) eh feeling ko not worth it. sabi ko, yung small laptop or netbook na lang bilin niya, mas marami pa siyang magagawa within the device.

ang hirap kasi sa mga tab/ipad na ito eh may certain amount of restriction ang mga apps at files na iddownload mo. esp with apple, most apps need to be bought, eh kuripotjunkie ako no, iwant shareware apps as much as possible. haha not unless you know how to "jailbreak" it (like what i did on iphone). ive read na there's a hack for android tab na ah. tho parang konti pa lang ang nakakagawa so limited din ang support in case na masira siya ng tuluyan. lol

hi qt_ben17, I used to share the same sentiment. But it really depends on what is your purpose for the device. For business/document management hands down panalo ang laptops pero for leisure, tablet for the win.

Re: apps, kurips din ako but the thing is maraming free sa android market which answers my needs from productivity apps to games. Madami nga nagugulat bakit sa Android free yung ibang games/apps pero pagdating sa Apple, may bayad na he he.

I used both iPad and Tab before, puro hiram lang. I decided to go for the Tab because of the size and the free applications the Android market offers. For me, overrated lang ang iPad kasi Apple siya, what you get from iPad you get from the Tab din naman. Saka tama si sis red_dragon, mas maganda ang pixel ng Tab. Aside from that, I have an iPhone and Macbook na rin.

Ang bilis ng depreciation nito. Ipad has been released for more than a year but it still maintained it's price.. the tab is now 27-28k now coming from ph33k and it was introduced here last december?

Is it worth it to ditch my ipad in favor of the tab?

me naman, I'm not mahilig talaga sa mga maliit na screen.kaya never nagka amor mga BlackBerry, Iphone, HTC sa akin.ayaw ko nung ganun kaliit na screen.

size is tama lang, mahilig ako sa games.pero okay na kahit SIMS lang nasa Galazy buhay na ako..

last Sat when we were in megamall, there's a samsung kiosk there, 21,990 na nga lang toh.. wooahhh!!! super gusto ko ng bumili.. hehe! kaso bakit kaya ambilis ng pag-markdown nila? di kaya may bago na agad na kasunod na for sure more than 30k na naman ang price tapos bababa eventually.. hehe!
