Please recommend a good general surgeon na babae within Manila area. Puro lalaki daw kasi usually ang general surgeon but I prefer sana babae. Yung available ng weekdays or preferably weekends din sana.

hi doc she, been following this thread, i was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast changes kasi dati pa and my mom died from breast cancer. haven't been to my surgeon for more than 3 years, no tests done also. may i know your sched in clinica manila and are you accredited with cocolife health access card? one more question, i have my period now, can i have the mammo done on fri or sat? thanks!

ask ko [textspeak!] po... I had my mammo done and says BIRADS Cat. 0 need further MR imaging because of amorphous calcification on right breast (right breast is kung saan may nakapa ako na lump)... my Breast UTZ was normal.. no mass seen, heterogeneously dense....
Had breast MRI (plain) as requested by my OB.. results says "THe breast is heterogeneously dense. No mass or architectural distorion demonstrated, however, a contrast study may be done to evaluate abnormal non mass enhancement" Intact skin and nipples"

no suspicious focus to suggest malignacy..

but i have a lesion (kung yun ang tawag) sa nipples.. medyo makati rin  pati sa pligid nya.. my OB prescribed Lamisil kasi fungal daw and replace all underwear or used breast pa... pero ganun pa rin...

i am thinking or going to a second doctor...

what is you opinion on this? no cancer history on my family (both sides).

Jinxbea- was wondering why mri was requested. For microcalcifications , mammogram is the best diagnostic exam. A second opinion may be done since i always remind my patients that breast and its diseases belongs to the surgeons an not Ob gyn.

Few weeks ago I noticed a lump or cyst on my right side breasts. It's movable, tender, and slightly painful whenever I touch it. I had an OB check it, sabi nya it's Fibroadenoma daw which is common to women my age. I'm twenty five. I underwent an ultrasound pero I haven't gone for a follow-up check up yet with my doc. Kinabahan ako. Should I be alarmed?

MRI was done in St. Lukes (Global).. my OB specifically requested for Non contrast as she said that there are some instances na nagkakaroon ng seizure during the process...... Yung mammogram ko Radiology Dept. Doctor requested for additional SPOT Mammo maybe because of the calcifiaction

Jinxbea- sorrybut the mri without contrast is an incomplete study. First, the amorphous calcificationwill not really be seen on the mri. It is only present in mammogram. The mri with contrast will help us for those suspicious non palpable areas. The amorphous calcifications are indications or surgery. Just want o reiterate, breast and its diseases belong to the surgeons and not ob gyn, i suggest you get a second opinion with a surgeon.

hi again doc she, would like to ask lang, i read about evening primrose oil and that it's recommended for women with hormonal imbalance and fibrocystic breast. is it safe to take it kaya? i have fibrocystic breasts kasi and a fibroadenoma thanks

Yes you can tAke it. Its not harmful anyway and usually its a safe supplement. Its effect apparently is to decrease breast pain.

Hi doc she...

My mother had her breast ultrasound last Sept.. 5.2 x 2.7 x 3.4 cm na po yung mass sa right breast nya.. subject for core needle biopsy sya dapat kaya lang tumataas po ang bp nya pag nsa clinic na sya for the procedure.. ask ko lang po sana if ok lang na ipa-mastectomy na lang namin nya then saka na lang i-biopsy yung makukuhang bukol sa kanya... sobrang takot po kc talaga syang magpa-biopsy...

Jorgine- first, you need to get a core needle biopsy specimen to check then name of the mass. Usually its done under local anesthesia. I have never seen a patient run pa naman during a procedure sa sobrang takot. I usually dont start if the patient still feels anything.
You cannot do mastectomy without the benefit of the tissue biopsy. What if it turns out to be benign, then mastectomy will be an overkill.

hi docshe! Inquire lang po, where po ba located ang clinic niyo and pls pm the clinic sched din po. I have the result of my sonogram last year pa po hindi po ako nakabalik sa surgeon ko kasi I got pregnant and I have to be bedridden then malayo kaya tinamad ako bumalik. Now I'm looking for new at gusto ko babae hope to hear from you soon and one more po pala are you maxicare accredited pa din po ba? TIA

Hi Doc She, few days ago i had a cracked nipple both side with wound, i am a breastfeeding mom to an almost one year old baby, i put cream then nawala yung sugat but the swelling around nipple area in my right breast is still here, with sharp pain, then this morning sobrang sakit po ulit siya.. Parang mga needle pain paikot sa nipple/areola area to the point na i had to take advil na.  Im planning to see a doctor later, medyo hesistant lang since puro male ang surgeons dito sa middle east kaya sa OB sana ako pupunta but i know its better to see a surgeon talaga.. Pero ano po kaya ang meron bakit ako nakakaramdam ng nipple pain?


Edited: Hi Doc She again, went to the doctor but unfortunately out of duty na ang ang nag-iisang surgeon nila nung dumating ako. so sa OB nalang po ako nagpacheck. Kinapa-kapa niya ang breast ko and wala naman daw po siyang nakitang problema.. binigyan lang ako ng pain reliever pag di pa raw nawala ang pain, tsaka nalang daw niya ako ipapa breast ultrasound , till now on off pa rin yung pain pero tolerable naman na po..
