The Philippines consists of 7,107 islands situated closest to the sun right on the Earth’s equator. This tropical country experiences the most extreme of weather and enjoys the widest range of spices and flavors. It prides itself in the mixture of culture and depth of historical influence that it possesses, wherein tradition ranges from the simplest of habits and the most extravagant of feasts. Its nation is ambitious, thriving, and constantly exuberant and accepting of change, ever so thirsty for something higher, bigger, better.
SO you ask, what does this have to do with Philippine nightlife?
Everything.
It is when the sun sets that this country turns up its volume. After all, in a land that’s familiar with tough luck and struggle, you can be sure that everyone knows the value of working to the bone. One thing to know about Filipinos though, they may be hard workers, but they can party so much harder. It is for this reason that the Philippine nightlife is designed to start as soon as the workday ends, all the way till it begins a new day. Now, from what you learned about the Philippines on the earlier description, expect five things from living it up PI style.
First of all, expect heat. It is in the PI that you’ll find some of the hottest parties you’ll ever see. Just as the country is right on the equator, Philippines generates the craziest of crowds, with numbers and energy soaring to the roof, breaking barometers and air-conditioning. Whether it’s a concert, a club night, or a closed door gig, expect high spirits if not huge crowds.
Second, expect variety. Just as the seasons and flavors range in this country, so does the Filipino taste in leisure and entertainment. Urban cities in this country have thousands of establishments to choose from. Restaurants, night markets, theatres, bistros, bars, lounges, dancehalls, casinos, clubs, events and concerts are just some of your options among the wide range of activities that can be found in the country’s metro. Also, whether you’re a rock, hip-hop, blues, techno, reggae, dancehall, ballroom, or even ktv fan, there is music for you to sway to here.
Third, expect a spectrum of culture. This nation is a product of a long line of historical influence from western, Asian, and tribal roots. In this respect, be sure to expect that the Filipino welcomes people of all races, most of which comes and goes, and comes back again over and over. Expect a culture of respect and common understanding of differences from one guy to another. In here, it doesn’t matter if you’re brown, black, white, or yellow. As long as you’re out to have fun, you’re in the same group.
Fourth, expect the next big thing. The Philippine nightlife is booming. It has grown to an entire industry of promoters, event organizers, productions, marketing agents, musical talents, models, advertising agencies, and so much more, all competing to deliver something new and fresh every time. Filipinos are always thirsty for new heights and feats, and they apply it as well to their nightlife.
And the very last thing to expect?
Expect the Philippines. Amidst its acceptance of diversity and influences, trust that the Philippines will make a mark on you. It has a distinct beat to it that will move you in ways you’ve never imagined. Mix it up, jump from one spot to another, drink, dine, party like rock stars do... in this country, everyone is.
