Hi Reese,

I brought my yaya from PH last Sept. The first thing you need to do is go to MOM site, it states there what you need to do before and after you apply. Your Singpass will lead you to the on-line application.

Share na lang po ako ng ibang tips --
1 - Be sure your maid is clear of HIV and TB. You can have her checked muna sa pinas before letting her fly here.
2 - There are downloadable sample test questionnaires that you would want to share to your maid to practice.
3 - Once you got your IPA, wait for at least 5 days before you fly her here. NTUC/or the insurance company needs to transmit the insurance to MOM.
4 - When flying to SG, please check-in earlier than the allotted time.

I have collegues dito na after madala ang kanyang maid, bumagsak po sa exam at meron ding bumagsak sa medical.

Ang isa pa pong ni-problema ko dati ay kung pano ko papapasukin sa SG  si yaya as a tourist. Lucky po ako dahil si yaya ay hinde hinarang ng immigration officer sa pinas.

Share ko lang po ang experience ng kakilala ko. Ang yaya nya po ay naharang sa pinas (mag-isa pong pupunta ng Sg), na-hold po siya satin at ni-interview ng officers. Pinatawagan pa po ng officer yaya ang kakilala ko na asa SG noon para lang i-explain na siya ay tourista at siya yung mag-sponsor. Ayun po matapos ang ilang usap sa telepono, na-convince po yung officer at natuloy naman po dito sa SG. Buti na lang po nag check-in siya ng maaga kaya inde po siya na-late sa flight.

Yung tip #3 ko po, basis nyan po ay ang aking personal experience na nag-stay pa po ako sa Indonesia for more than a week para samahan si yaya dahil inantay namin ma-transmit yung insurance nya sa MOM. Kelangan po kasing ala sa Singapore ang yaya while they are doing this procedure.

Re: yaya.. Here's the process:

1. Secure the following documents from your yaya:
- passport
- NBI clearance (optional pero I required her)
- High School diploma
- passport pictures
2. Get your Singpass
3. Employers should complete the 3hour Orientation. Employers can choose to complete the programme in a classroom setting or online. It must be completed at least two working days before submitting the Work Permit application.
- Course Fee:  $20.00
- Online Programme:
4. Apply the yaya's permit online
- A $10 administrative fee will be charged for each Work Permit application submitted and payment can be made online using Visa/MasterCard or eNets Debit
- This is 1 working day processing. The outcome can be accessed online.
5. An IPA letter will be issued by the Ministry Of Manpower’s Work Pass Division upon a successful application. For first-time FDWs, a “Letter of Notification” to bring the FDW into Singapore will be issued in place of the IPA letter
6. Secure the following:
- Personal Accident Insurance and Security Deposit that can be bought at NTUC. Maybe $200 plus.. Not sure na.
7. Bring the yaya here. Pamedical mo muna sa pinas ng TB/pregnancy. Ulitin na lang dito pagdating. XRAY dito na sa SG.
8. Once the yaya is here, let her take the medical exam and entrance test.
- Test fee is $7

For the yaya's OEC and OWWA, kelangan via the agency yan. It's around $280.

, share ko lang. ingat with mothercare centrepoint branch. nadulas ako last night dun sa store. the culprit? WET FLOOR. ni signage wala nakakapanggigil kasi di magsosorry yung staff kung d ko tinuro na bakit basa ang sahig and ni signage wala, goodness, customers nila kundi buntis mga may kasamang bata and malamang safety precaution and SOP na dapat ng store to make it a safe place for their customers to roam around atleast! good thing wala namang spotting or whatsoever, sumasakit lang lately yung sa puwerta (hope i got the term right, yung parang sa pelvic opening banda) and tummy feels heavier than the usual and may sakit. At walang manager on duty kahapon. bwiset, this isn't the first time na i got a bad treatment from their staff pero yung kagabi d ko talaga palalampasin yun. Already posted at their FB page and at the same time nagemail na ako sa head office nila

Di na talaga, pati si hubby nagulat sa pagkadulas ko kagabi. hay etong bansa na to ang sarap sumpain minsan sa palpak na customer service & sa pagiging hindi family/kid friendly na country. anyway i found this link and emailed them already, i hope they can help me & hubby if ever with last night's incident.

last nalang, so when i bring the yaya, done with steps 1-6, should I tell the immigration officer sa airport sa 'pinas na official yaya namin siya and show them the IPA? or panindigan ko na tourist talaga siya?

^you're welcome no sis.. dont tell the IO that she's working here in SG kahit meron na IPA.. dapat tourist lang.. else she has to go thru POEA and that's a long process.. Mabilis lang iprocess yan dito sa SG.. i suggest you ask someone to fly with her para less hassle and stress.. but of course mas maganda if you fly with her

Active ako dun sa kabilang thread ng mga mommies.. and major topic dun ang schools for our kids.. nahihirapan pa din ako ma-identify ang school dito sa singapore if they are progressive or traditional.. or meron bang difference dito yun?

Hindi ko alam kung ang Montessori ba dito ay parang montessori sa pinas na progressive... magreresearch research na nga din ako..

Julia Gabriel pa din si kyle until he turns 3.. Jan 2012 namin sya ililipat sa Chiltern kasi parang hindi pa sya independent sa classroom and baka hanapin pa ang yaya nya..

hindi ako maka-relate dun kasi parang puro pang-pinas lang. hehe.  at saka medyo pang mommies with toddles pa. 

based sa mga na-research ko abt pre-schools here, most if not all are progressive na.  even PAP kinder progressive.  i think SG schools recognizes na di na akma sa panahon ngayon yung traditional.  sa mga nakita ko ding montessori dito, progressive sila 
bili ka na nung preschool magazine para magka-idea ka kung ano/paano ba ang preschool dito sa SG.

Nagpa-book din si Vhon para dun kami next month, anniversary celebration <yebah!> pero regular rate lang kami, walang discount wahhh kaya pilitin ko talagang masulit namin ang stay hehe

Pia, napapa-isip na din ako sa schooling ni Bianca... ang aga naman kasi pumasok ng bata ngayon, parang gusto ako pa lang sa mundo nya tsuks!

Haha parehas tayo Kaye, magsubscribe lang ako sa thread na yun kasi marami naman ako natutunan but di ako makasabat kasi ang dami nila sobrang active lahat. Haha.

Anyway, di ko na balak ilipat ng montessori si J. Baka di namin kayanin at mapanindigan haha. So far ok naman siya sa school niya ngayon. Balak ko lang siya i-enroll sa british council para naman ma-enhance ang english speaking skills niya at hindi masyadong singlish. Next year, balak ko naman sa Berries para sa Mandarin class. Puro balak haha. This April she's taking ballet sa Crestar naman. Para naman may ibang pagkakaabalahan. Dito sa Singapore sawa ka sa enrichment classes eh! Kaw ang mababaliw kapipili. Hehe.

@maui: OK naman ang MBS experience.  buti na lang discounted sya. kasi kung hindi, hindi sulit!! hehe.  na-shock lang kami ng dami ng tao sa common areas nila like 1st flr at skypark.  pag-checkin pa lang namin, parang kagulo na.  pero mangha kami sa ganda ng architecture/structure.  ang galing ng pagkagawa.  una ngang nabanggit ni robert yung napanood nya sa Discovery Channel Mega-structures. hehe.  a little disappointed lang kasi nagkamali ng book yung cousin ko. sa atrium lang kami na-book. gusto sana namin horizon.  hindi tuloy mataas yung view.  si ela lang nag-swim nung 1st day. ang dami kasing tao sa adult pool. ang dami ding usyoso lang.  8am second day na lang kami nag-swim. ang lamig!!! hahaha. pero carry na after a few minutes.  di ko lang na-enjoy kasi pina-alis si ela sa may adult pool. dun lang daw sa pangbata sya pede.  so i had to accompany her dun sa pangbata...
overall, ok naman. babalik ba kami?  siguro in the far future. at kung may discount lang ulet. ang mahal kasi nya sobra!  at gusto naman din namin ma-experience yung ibang hotel dito sa SG. 

@pau:  gusto ulit mag-ballet class ni ela. ako lang ang tinatamad ulet. hehe. ang hirap din kasi maghanap ng good sched na weekday ng gabi.  meron na kasi syang EQ class ng saturday. at ayaw nang dagdagan ni robert.  pero isang gusto ni robert na hanapin ko, martial arts school. mahilig kasi mag-flying kick si ela lately.  daddies talaga... 
bakit i-british council mo pa?  kaya nyo naman i-correct ang accent nya.  pag si ela naririnig naming nag-singlish tone, kino-correct namin.  usually nawawala sa kanila yung "r" sound.  kaya din siguro hindi singlish ito kasi babad sa playhouse disney.  tunog cartoons tuloy pag nagsasalita. LOL
hindi ko na muna sya pa-mandarin class. wala talagang hilig sa Mandarin eh. im hoping na lang na mapa-exempt ko sya ng MT by P1. kung hindi, sa P1 ko na lang sya pa-enrichment sa Chinese.
i love enrichment classes here in SG. hahahaha. parang lahat pedeng pag-aralan ng bata.  pera at oras lang ang kulang. kami naman naka-lineup na balak: reading class (either mindchamps or i can read), ballet (dito lang sa CC para mura), swimming class (ayaw kasi magpaturo sa akin), martial arts (pagbigyan ang daddy) 

* hindi naman halatang ako taong bahay dito 'no?  LOL
