DISCOVERY WEEKEND

We attended this last week (if there are any batchmates here, hi!) cause we literally had no choice. Our church wouldn't allow us to attend a pre-cana seminar somewhere else anymore.

Didn't think I'd get anything new from it, after all fiance and I have been together for over a decade na, but it turned to be super enlightening and rewarding. We had a chance to address all our issues away from the hustle of daily life, and we came home a million times more in love with each other. Would recommend this to everyone, you'll learn a LOT promise.

^ oh yes. Sa batch namin, me at least 3 couples who decided to either cancel or postpone their wedding. Na-realize daw nila na andami pa nila issues na kelangan i-address..

Nung nag attend kami ng DW, we were told by Dr. Allan Dionisio na maganda daw if the couple na mag a-attend dun are seriously thinking about marriage pero wala pang exact date.  Why? Para daw less heartache at gastos (sa mga couples na naka pag book na then later realize na di sila match). May attendee nga daw dun na more than 3x nag attend with different partners. nasa testimonial yung story nung attendee na yun sa website ng discovery weekend.

How much usually ang pre-cana sa mga church or CEFAM? Looking for more affordable seminar options since we are so over budget na sa wedding :p

sparlingjewel check mo rin with your church if kasama sa package nila ang pre-cana. May ibang church kas na kasama yun. I think CEFAM costs around 6k per couple. Not so sure though.

^7500 for DW, 6000 for CEFAM. But i hear there are normal pre-canas for 2-3k lang kasi so opening myself to those options as well Fiance isn't the type who enjoys long retreats, so if ever DW it might be more for me. Thank you caleeice for the tips

^Hi alam ko kasama na sa bayad sa church yung precana. but some churches kasi requires 2 weekends for precana. if you want na shorten lang try mo magprecana sa San Agustin church sa Manila. 1500 halfday precana.

Thanks shygirlme! Even if kasama sa fee yung pre-cana in our church, our church kasi is in Tagaytay and we'd rather attend one in Manila para less hassle. Will be asking nearby churches i guess since mukhang ito talaga most affordable option

Not in all churches sis. In our church, we had to pay a separate pre-cana fee.

Sis sparklingjewel, ask your church pala if they will allow pre-cana done elsewhere. I don't know if churches are strict about this, but best to confirm

^caleeice Confirmed pwede kami mag pre-cana in other churches, or DW. Walang sinabi lang kung pwede CEFAM. Will have to call. Pero leaning towards normal pre-cana seminar kami due to cost.

Hi! How are the sleeping arrangements in Discovery Weekend? I know the boys and girls sleep apart. But is it dorm type or individual rooms per person?

My fiance and I are in limbo right now and are going through some doubts and difficulties and someone suggested that we take DW which fiance agrees to do. We want a thorough retreat kasi to also help us decide if we really want to push through the wedding or not.

Sa discovery weekend na we attended (antipolo) , hiwalay girls sa boys. Bale, girls two in one room. Sa boys, ganun din.

Yes it helps a lot especially kung maraming unresolved issues with partners. In our case, wala naman issues gaano sa amin ng partner ko pero nung nasa discovery weekend kami, dun lumabas ang differences namin.

Nakakapagod kasi daming activities. Sunod sunod pero masaya naman.

I really wanna take the 2 day overnight course because it really is more intensive and through daw. I wonder how Discovery compares with Catholic Engaged Encounter?

Ive taken Retrouvaille  Marriage Encounter with my ex-hubby, and it was really great even if we didn't work out in the end. However, the rooms and shared bathrooms had a lot left to be desired. My fiance isn't picky with accommodations.

Is it possible to join Discovery but go sleep at home???
