What do you do with your old Books?

Every book that I bought or received are in my other room. I keep them all since I just couldn't give them away. Books are somehow a part of me already and it's in my nature to re-read something that I love.

Yung mga libro ko nung nag aaral pa ako ay nasa akin parin, Wala akong balak ipamigay yun sobrang attached na kasi ako dun haha at tsaka feeling ko magagamit pa yun ng mga kapatid ko since hindi pa naman sila tapos sa pag aaral.

Pa-join...I have plenty of books too yung iba di ko pa nababasa but I am planning to sell them na din kasi di na ako maka-catch up sa pagbabasa sobrang busy lang sayang naman naalikabukan lang. How to sell here in FN ba?

I saw this nonprofit featured in an old magazine at the salon and fortunately I took note and was able to find them online. You can donate books to Books for a Cause. They're on Facebook and they have a website. They will send the books to rural communities.
I also grew up a bookworm. I recently read Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up and going through the process, I'm willing to let go of a number of books that no longer spark joy now, though they did give me joy at the time when I read/bought them and I'm honestly not going to read them again anyway. For future Reference or just in case, I can just look it up online or buy a new copy if I really needed.
So now I need to get them all boxed up for donation

I keep all the books that I liked/ loved. Yung iba na di ko masyadong nagustuhan, binibigay ko sa mga cousins ko. None of my siblings have the fondness in reading unlike me na bookworm talaga.

I have a lot of pinoy pocketbooks that Im so crazy about eons ago. But since i am decluttering nowadays at I think I've outgrown na these books, I decided to sell na them online.

I give them away. I just post a stat on fb and a friend come and collect them. Same with my kids books, too.

I have books na hirap akong i-let go like yung Sweet Valley books ko kasi I grew up reading them. Iba talaga sentimental value nila sa kin. Pero yung iba, I donate them sa school library namin.

^same here. I keep them all. I bought them kasi love ko sila. lol! It will be hard for me to let go. Yung ibang books ko bigay sa kin, may notes pa yung iba so di pwdeng ipamigay

Pero yung iba na parang di ko naman na ganun ka-gusto, pinahihiram ko na lang and i don't bother to retrieve them.

Nasa spare room. Yung iba nasa shelves, yung mga not so fave nasa boxes. I cannot give or throw them away. Kasi once in a while binabasa ko pa rin sila.

i hoard books as well. they're now piled like totem poles and linger on my work desk and nightstand like satisfied cats. i love them so much, i can't bear the thought of parting with them. the sentimental value is gigantic, i read my old books from time to time.

you can sell the books or donate them to your local library.

I'm a bookworm (I read 3 books at a time and cannot sleep without reading anything at night) but I have no attachment to books (same with most material things in all honesty, and I'm not trying to be Gandhi here). I learned long ago that they're better shared than hoarded. Books are made of paper and they will not last long - moisture, termites, molds can and will eventually render them useless. They're also combustible materials.

What I do is I give them away, I loan to friends (who forget to give them back anyway) or donate to a public library. My favorite beneficiary is Marikina Public Library (they send me tiny notepads as thanks).

Of course, there are cherished books that I keep. Same with my kids who have kanya-kanyang favorites - we don't give those away, hoping that the hard-bound/sturdy ones will last long enough for their children naman to enjoy. But these are very few and if a relative/friend shows appreciation for one or two of my books, I give them away. No regrets. I'm happy to indulge them.

Easier to keep a neater bookshelf ngayon because of digital or e-books. Nothing can compete with that heady, new book smell, of course, but unless it's a book that I've read digitally and still want to keep a paper version thereof, I don't buy anymore.

I know that books are supposed to ~travel~ but the farthest I can go is lending them to super close friends. Pero I really cannot part with them. I've been changing addresses for nearly 10 years and the first thing I always do when packing is boxing up all my books. A lot of them have been with me since dorm days in college.
I intend to have a small library in my future house.

I used to donate books sa relatives lang, and sa Jollibee during December kapag may malaking boxes sila sa branches nila.
