my 9 month old baby had fever last oct 8 and watery poop niya. we went to her pedia and she advised us for a stool exam. oct 9 we have our baby's stool exam and found out that she's positive for amoebiasis. her pedia gave her flagyl, erceflora and pediachlor kase may pus daw sa poop ni baby. after a week nag pa stool exam kami ulit and ok nanaman wala ng amoeba na nankita. pero nafrustrate lang ako kase up to now medyo watery pa din poop ni baby and medyo with mucus pa din and may parang black na something.

mga sis any advise or may naka experience na bang magka amoeba dito?

wilkins water ni baby and may sarili siyang gamit sa house nakabukod din mga things niya and isterilize din mga gamit niya.

My eldest daughter had this a few months ago... We were also clueless why she had it eh all of her feeding materials are cleaned very well. But these kids put in their mouths everything they get their hands on - toys especially.

About 7 days watery/with mucus yung poops ni baby. I have to check what meds were given to her ha. Meanwhile, give baby lots of fluids para hindi ma dehydrate.

Momsielurks, i suggest sterilize mo lahat ng utensils at feeding bottle nya maigi. Anong tubig ang pina pangligo mo kay baby? Minsan dun din nila nakukuha yung amoebiasis kasi nakakainom sila ng tubig.

sis Momsielurks, agree with other mommies.

minsan sa tubig pampaligo nila at saka sa mga things na sinusubo ni baby. nagka-amoebiasis din baby ko nung 8 months siya same ng meds ang prescribed ng pedia niya plus pedialyte.

nag-change water din kami from wilkins to dr. edwards for about 4 months then balik na ulit ng wilkins nung 1 yr na si baby kasi expensive si dr. edwards e!

my daughter had fever din last night and loose ang poop nya and frequent.. i thought nag-iipin..but i gave her tempra na.. thennaging frequent nga ang poop nya.. nagpa-fecalysis na ako kanina.. ayun positive for e.coli.. haaay... pedia prescribed flagyl, im giving her glucolyte din .. we'll be seeing my pedia on friday for check up pero prior check up fecalysis na uli

pero gano ba katagal bago bumalik sa normal poop ni baby. we had our fecalysis last oct 15 ok na wala ng amoeba na nakita pero still up to now loose pa din poop niya and may parang mucus pa din. dahil ba un sa teething na niya? may appointment kami ulit sa pedia niya on friday. nakakfrustrate na kase bakit hindi pa din balik sa normal ang poop.

nag pedialyte din kami 50ml every poop niya

yes sis iam giving her bananas and apples. pero wala pa din loose pa din poop niya

it takes a while for the gut to be completely healed even if wala ng amoeba.
Ilang fecalysis na siya clear? Whe my son had amoebiasis, the doctor required 3 consecutive na clear fecalyses before he was taken off flagyl.
Ang explanation kasi nya is that the amoeba comes in 2 forms, cysts and trophocytes. It's the trophocytes that cause the active infection and what the antibiotic kills. The cysts are sort of dormant and can't be killed by the antibiotics. Sometimes, the fecalysis will come out clear even if there are cysts pa and when the cysts hatch into trophocytes, the infection starts up again. Kaya sa iba, recurring ang amoebiasis. That's why she required 3 na sunod sunod na fecalysis to rule out the cysts hatching into trophs.

yung sa inyo gano katagal ang interval ng fecalysis niyo? and for how long kayo nag flagyl? thanks

you know, I forgot na kung ilang days interval yung fecalysis. I think it was 3 consecutive days. I could be mistaken though.
And flagyl was 10 days (or 14? Di ko matandaan). But the loose stool was there for quite a while. Although hindi na frequent. Kasi at the height of the infection he was pooping 12x/day. Yun nga, it takes a while for the gut to heal kaya loose pa din yung stools. Frequent pa ba yung pooping?

ngayon medyo hind na madalas mga 4x/day loose stool niya. ganon ba talaga? i thought kase after niya mag flagyl and maclear siya sa amoeba balik na sa normal poop niya. 10 days kami ngflagyl. thanks

no. The gut has to heal first bago maging normal ang stools nya again. Remember, the gut took a beating with the infection so give it time to heal. Keep your baby off of dairy kasi it tends to irritate the gut.

wala na. yung erceflora lang for 5days twice daily siya. pero tapos na namin maibigay. wala na siyang meds na iniinom ngayon. naka lactose free milk lang siya ngayon.

maybe you can ask your doctor about continuing the probiotics to help with the healing...

sa 1st fecalysis ko.. e.coli cysts ang lumabas sa results..
as per my pedia we need to see her on friday..pero naka-flagyl na sya ng 3x a day.. tapos dapat prior we see her on friday PM magpa-fecalysis na kami uli and bring the results to her.
she did not prescribe erceflora..
malamang she will push the OMX probiotics sa akin.. but that is so expensive kasi they only sell that by the box! walang tingi..
we give our daughter yakult every other day.. pero pina stop ko muna baka masira tyan nya

as per my yaya once pa lang sya nag poop today..

yes, you want to stop yakult because even though yakult has probiotics, it also has dairy. the dairy tends to irritate the gut.
