have enrolled myself in the basic digital photography class of SirNicolay. in fairness, it's very reasonably priced. hope i learn a lot from it. pag ok yung BDP class nya, i'll also take up the other classes, lalo na yung Editing and B/W photography nya.  :)

super ok yung basic digital photography class ni sir nicolay last saturday. from a newbie and a photo hobbyist's perspective, the session was informative. and since we were only 5 in the class, mas personal yung approach ni sir nicolay. i'll be looking into his website again for the editing classes. sana may editing class sya that fits my schedule.  :)

^ What lens do you currently have?  The Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 is obviously not a top of the line lens but it is better than the 18-55 kitlens and costs more or less 20k pesos(brandnew).

sis, i only have the 50mm f1.8 aside from the twin kit lens.  i mainly use the twin kit lens and it frustrates me esp. during parties where theres a lot of movement in low light (hate flash)..  im ok with the 50mm's performance, but then again its very limited to portraits.

ok na ako sis even if its not top of the line, yun lang ang kaya ko eh.  ask ko lang if its worth spending that much (even though can afford it) to use it for indoor parties and even portrait photography?  is it sharp enough?

Just for the record, I have never used that lens.  But people who have say that it is better than the kitlens.  And by the way, the aperture of the 17-70 sigma is f/2.8 - 4.

f/2.8 at 17mm and f/4 at 70mm.  I am not quite sure if f/4 would be enough to get a decent shutter speed from a moving subject in low light.  By the way sis, ano body mo?

No, it doesn't matter.. Nacurious lang ako kung nikon/canon body mo.  Hehe..  And by the way, some people(myself included) do not like 3rd party lenses due to compatibility issues.

Subscribing!

I use a Canon EOS 500D at work and a Canon S95 for personal use.

Kahit na more than a year and a half na saken yung 500D, hindi ko pa rin naeexplore yung features nya. Puro naka-auto lang.

I don't have time to go to classes so hopefully I could learn here na lang thru your inputs.

^ depende siguro sis sa class na kukunin mo and sa level of understanding mo ng photography. i took the basic digital photography class. as a photo hobbyist, and still new to photography, the class was useful and informative even if it was only 3 hrs.
