Help: digicam or dslr?

^sakto diba...  im taking even better shots with it than my old dslr.... really. 

i beg to disagree na hindi customizable ang aperture,  iso and speed ng mga point and shoots.  if you get an advanced point and shoot,   most have even full manual controls.

so,  the choice between dslr and point and shoot digicams really boils down to whether youre after pocketability or not.

True meron narin exposure options ang ibang digicam these days but limited. Iba parin ang creative ability ng DSLR with a good lens. For example, almost impossible yung blurry background effect sa point and click.

buti na lang i didnt sell my ixy25.  its battery kasi is compatible with the s95 kaya hayan, may spare akech. hehe... baka may ixus ka, pwede siguro batt nya.

i monitored.. hanggang 200 shots nga lang halos a pop ang batt ni s95.  pero bihira naman tayo mag 200 shots a night.  roadtrip lang kasi yun kaya medyo todo shoot.

nope,  it is not impossible.
these fotos were taken using my pns na super simple ang controls... walang full manual.  basic controls lang pero blurred and super macro ang shot.  ixus na luma,  ixy25 lang sha.  all im saying is,   depends really on what you  need and what works for you.

all im saying is,   hindi imposibleng mag blur ng background with point and shoots. yun lang naman. 

anyway,  for those who are into advanced point and shoots,   a professional photog friend of mine recommends the olympus pen series.  compact enough sha, not as bulky daw as the dslr,   pero interchangeable lenses sha.  really cool. in fact,  di na daw nya madalas dala yung DSLR nya kasi the Pen takes superb pics. 
actually kasing mahal na sha halos ng DSLR... just a teeny weeny bit cheaper.  pero point and shoot pa din sha categorized.

im impressed with the outcome! auto lang yan kasi nahirapan ako gamitin (im a canon user, hiram ko lang yang olympus)

Meron na ngang P&S na customizable na pero I noticed masyado na ang taas ng noise (parang alikabok sa picture). Pag low light, mas maganda pa rin talaga ang DSLR. I have a DSLR and a P&S. Pag travel sa araw, I prefer bringing yun P&S (pasakit naman kasi talaga sa balikat ang DSLR eh). Pero pag gabi, DSLR pa rin talaga. Mas maasahan to take better pictures even in low light. ;-) Plus hindi kaya ng P&S ang light painting eh.

share ko lang these blogposts of one of my favorite photographers na pro.  he uses his point and shoot lang, pero high end. way cheaper pa din than DSLR pero interchangeable lens na din sha.

personally, i prefer both.  well not exactly p&s, pero p&s-like in terms of weight and portability. i always have my nex-5 in my bag  for those "biglaan" kodak moments.  tyaka if medyo formal [textspeak!] occassion.  i hate to say this, but sometimes, a dslr doesn't quite blend sa outfit. but most especially, since my medical condition right now doesn't allow me to carry heavy stuff, i'm sticking to a smaller cam.  but that doesn't mean i'll sell my dslr either.  i will still use it if i don't need to move around a lot.

True. nahirapan talaga sa low light ang p&s. tulad ng wedding photos inside church that's why wedding photogs still use dslr.

^Tsaka pag sports rin, mahirap pag P&S.. hindi kaya mabilis na sunod sunod na shutter unlike sa dslr (ko), kaya  hanggang 8 frames per second. May reason siyempre bakit mas mahal ang dslr. So it all boils down sa specific needs ng gagamit. Like I said, meron akong P&S and DSLR. Dinadala ko kung alin ang tingin ko magiging useful sa akin depende sa particular situation na paggagamitan ko. Pareho naman useful talaga. Yun dslr eh pasakit talaga sa shoulders ko kaya dinadala ko lang talaga pag kailangan. Pag mga pa-cute na shots lang at ample naman ang ilaw, P&S na lang di pa mabigat. Pero pag kailangan ng mga dramatic lighting, DSLR pa din talaga.

To answer the first question, maybe you can try a bridge camera for a start. Since I'm not really into photography but would not skip the chance to take good pictures I bought the GE X500. It's also very affordable:

what is the best P&S camera i can get for a 10k budget?
I use my dslr all the time but it's just so heavy for my scolio.  (the dslr plus accesories, plus my other things) My olympus p&s is dying, and i am on a tight budget these days.

My hubby has SLR, i have point and shoot na sony digicam na 4 yrs old, This august im getting Canon G12, practice practice lang magshoot

kung malaki po budget mo, pareho mo bilin..pero kung tamang picture lang, tama na po siguro ang digicam..

mag search ka din po.depende kase sa needs mo..

from my experience,    akala ko okay na ako with a PNS na high end kaya i bought a canon s95.    pero parang kulang ang PNS for really special occasions.  bihira naman ang okasyon pero sayang kasi pag hindi DSLR ang dala...

so we bought a DSLR...  ang nangyari,  since pang everyday use ko was canon s95 which has too much features for daily use,  sayang ang camera..  so i sold the s95 and got a lower model na ixus na mas bagay for everyday use.  nasa bag ko sha lagi.

pang special occasions,  DSLR pa din ang gamit namin...
