I realized nga how blessed we are sa Pilipinas. Kasi sa Pilipinas we can basically plant anytime, unlike dito sa US na meron mga seasons. Tapos sa atin sa Pinas, I remember, eh isasaboy ko lang ang seeds sa lupa eh nabubuhay na sya. Thats how we used to do sa Kamatis and Kalabasa sa yard namin. Pero dito sa US eh ang tigas ng lupa (clay) so we have to buy compost para gumanda, tapos cultivate pa sya, tapos kailangan mo pa ng kung ano anong amendment para sakto ang PH etc... Kaya ako eh bumili na lang ako ng soil para less hassle. Magastos pero its worth it kasi nakakatanggal ng stress.

Ako din I'm into gardening. May nga nabili akong halaman sa Tagaytay, sobrang mura lang don, pinapalago ko na lang. Minsan naman bumibili ako ng seeds, nong una tumubo pero eventually nasira din kasi ginulo ng manok. Mas gusto ko sana herb kaso parang hindi naging successful, laging namamatay. Kaya eto try ko naman ngayon flowers, next naman gusto ko mga gulay.

Nakakatuwa lang kasi mas inspired akong icheck sila palagi at natutuwa ako kapag ok sila. I try putting coffee grounds din, mas lumago at nawala yong mga insects na kinakain ang leaves ng plants.

^yun coffee ground ok lang kahit used na?  Dito kasi sa office, meron expresso machine, yun mga grounded coffee after dumaan sa machine, throw na.

Ako din, I buy 2 types of flower seeds, yun isa tumubo, yun isa hindi.  Nakakatuwa kapag tumutubo na.  Meron din nagbigay ng tomorrow leaves, namatay lahat pero pinagtyagaan ko diligan yun stem, tumubo din ulit, (ganun pala yun), ngayon ang lago na.  Ako naman ngayon namimigay. hehe

Next ko din, gulay.  Gusto ko itry tomato.  Yun kalamansi hindi naging successful dati. Gusto ko itry ulit... 

How to plant calamansi?  need ba ipa-dry yun seeds bago itanim?  Sa paso lang kasi ako plant.

^sis yung used coffee grounds talaga ginagamit. Ang starbucks pinamimigay nila yung used coffee grounds nila para sa mga tanim

^^yes yong used na coffee grounds ang gamitin mo. Super effective talaga. Ngayon naman naguguluhan ako sa panahon, ang init init tapos biglang uulan, gusto ko sanang stay sa garden.

waaah!!! nainspire akong mag-gardening sa mga nabasa ko! gusto ko sana mint at saka isang flower plant. pero paso lang kasi sa terrace lang ako makakapag tanim. anong flower plant kaya ang magandang ipaso?

^ipatong lang. I distribute it evenly sa ibabaw ng soil.

Hello.  Paano mo pinatong yun nabubulok na kamatis?  ibaon ba ng konti sa lupa?  gaano kabilis tumubo?

I live in an apartment, so may space constraint din. Who's into container gardening? Kanina lang ako nagtry using bottles of softdrinks (1.5L). Sana maging successful. Anyone who has done this? I tried pechay and eggplant. Sana magbloom.

hi, please help me. naglagas lahat ng dahon ng sili ko. before naman namumungs siya. yung okra ko naman bagong tanim, nagyeyelow ang leaves, tapo yung calamansi naman di na namumunga. please help newbie po ako sa gardening. thanks!

Hi everyone? Just trying, sana buhay pa tong thread na to. I've been gardening for a little bit, so far, I've grown tomatoes and basil successfully in containers. Just wanting to say hi to all the gardeners here.

^Hi sis, I got basils, too. And rosemary, oregano, taragon and mint Mahirap pala pag may tanim na herbs sa bahay, lahat ng luto mo gusto mo lagyan lagi hahaha

^ like! how nice naman your herb garden. tomatoes and basil are beginners crops but it took me years and years to develop a green thumb. I will try my hand at rosemary and oregano like you. Did you raise yours from seed?

seeds lang ba for tomatoes?
gusto ko rin ng basil at rosemary.

^ yup, I just bought seeds in the supermarket for the tomatoes and basil. You can buy the condor brand that comes in a green packet. Ramgo is also good. The advantage of those brands is that they are field tested in the Philippines.

oh alright, thanks sis! and what type of soil did you use?

^ If I am potting, I use 1/3 cocopeat with 1/3 compost and 1/3 rice hull. If I am planting in the ground, I use 1/3 soil, 1/3 compost, and 1/3 rice hull.
