i also do not prefer my hubby to carry my bag for me. but now that i'm pregnant, it has to be an exception especially if my bag is loaded with a lot of stuff.

I'm appealing to fellow guys in GT.

Please stop carrying your girlfriends/wife's purse. Grocery and shopping bags are fine. I'm talking about the shoulder and handbags they always bring around.

1. this is the final straw to the feminism of men
2. there are countless better ways to be sweet
3. it doesn't make you look more masculine since its only 2-3 pounds
4. It looks ridiculous.
5. You may be mistaken to be gay
6. It is beta male behavior (in contrast to Alpha male behavior)
7. Women who like this gesture actually just like seeing you lose your balls to them
8.  She brought it, let her carry it.

exception:
she needs to free her hands to do something real quick

feel free to add more reasons.

Omg! I agree with everything you said! my bf and I always laugh at guys with big muscular body trying to fit teenie tiny bags into their arms/shoulders  :P

This is so true. I dont let my bf carry my bags, usually siya nagvolunteer to carry my bag for just a while, then kinukuha ko na ulit once nakarecover na shoulders ko.

I know this girl who was shopping for a bag and couldnt decide which model. She asked the bf to choose kase she said na he has to be the one comfortable lugging it since si bf primary magbubuhat nun. In real life, parati niya pinpabuhat mga bags niya sa bf. pagkalabas sa office, unload sa shoulder ng bf.  the thing which i find most annoying is hindi naman kagandahan si girl, but kung makapaginarte, at peg ang pagka princess - wagas

BF carries it w/o me asking. I let him if it's heavy.
IMO I dont think men would look less masculine if they carry wife/gf purse ~ na malalaki ah..
well, yung mga maliliit na bag na parang clutch lang na nilagyan ng handle/sling, i dont think ive seen anyone do that, and i think nga it would look just silly.

Beta male vs Alpha male ~ meh ~ i dont really care, there are other ways din naman for him to show his masculinity.

i agree, it's so gay (as in expression, not that he's gay).
i don't think he's less of a gentleman if he doesn't offer to carry my purse when it's heavy.  he has no qualms holding it (with his hands ok,  not over the shoulder) for a few minutes if both my hands are occupied.  like i will say 'paki-hawakan mo nga sandali', then he would reluctantly,  pero kuntodo folded/smushed out of shape na yung purse so he doesn't look like he's holding one  :D

I roll my eyes every time i see guys carrying their gfs/wives' lil handbags. OA na eh, ganun bah kabigat yung clutches or tiny handbags na hindi kaya dalhin ng gf/wife nila? For all we know handphone, wallet, hanky and presspowder lang laman nun. Hehe :P

Backpack, shopping bags, tote bags ok lang. It makes more sense eh dahil baka mabigat nga yung mga laman nun. ;)

my hubby never ever carried my handbag  ;D except for one time I have a leather handbag with me na the bag itself pa lang mabigat na and I teased him to carry it for me. he did and natawa siya na parang naawa pa saken because I'm carrying a heavy bag and ang liit liit ko daw.

I don't let my husband to carry my bag also even when we were dating/bf-gf pa lang. He asked me why daw, my reasons are#1,4 & 8. Natatawa na lang ako seeing those guys carrying their gf's bag while the girl walks na parang namamasyal lang sa park ;D

My wife lets me carry her purse or bag when she is already tired or she is carrying my yr 11 old daughter.  It does not bother me since I do not have any issues with my gender hahaha!! one who thinks that It might make him look gay may actually have a tendency to be "gay" IMO  :D

Wala namang problema samin. Siguro nasa tingin nalang talaga ng ibang tao yun. Kung baga "Walang basagan ng trip"  8) And kung meron man kaming makita na bitbit niya purse or bag ng gf/wife niya, dedma lang. Gusto nila yun eh, so bakit namin pakikialaman.

I think its ok for a guy to carry his wife or gf's bag if he sees na sobrang hirap or heavy na yung bag for the girl. I don't think it makes him less of a man in fact pogi points pa yun if he offers :)

Pag tiny bag, naku that's different, kaartehan na yun

I agree with Alucard.

"It does not bother me since I do not have any issues with my gender hahaha!! one who thinks that It might make him look gay may actually have a tendency to be "gay"(..)"

Personally, I don't like it that my bf always demands to carry my bag--small or heavy. I don't like it for the shallow reason that I paired it with my outfit and it looks good. I never thought it'd make any guy look gay UNLESS they really are gay. I don't think it'd be degrading for any woman UNLESS she lets it be degrading for her. Anyway, but I lose, my bf still carries my bag because he has a more profound reason (my shallow reason loses). I have scoliosis and I was advised by the doctor not to carry around too much heavy things. And my bag is usually heavy with my laptop, etc.

Usually, I carry two bags.  One bag with laptop, papers, and phones.  And another for my kikay stuff and umbrella.  :)  So he offers to carry one of my bags all the time.   I don't think it's bad or make him look like less of a man.  Who says we need to care what others think?   ;) As long as we treat each other with respect and love, it shouldn't be an issue.

kaya lang, ang laptop bag ko, it's not all black.  it's still a girly shoulder bag.    :)  I asked him once if he's bothered with how the way other people might view him carrying my bag.  And he gave me a simple reply.  "Why should I care?"

Iba iba nga naman ang mga lalaki.   :)
