I am able to transit without visa. I was given 24 hours visa on arrival twice sa 2 stopover ko, kaya i was able to tour a little bit in the city by Hop On Ho Off bus tour.

a few weeks before our trip, my family and i applied for our uk tourist visa. upon appearing in the embassy, we were given separate numbers even though we told them that we were together. so my dad went first, then my mom, then a few numbers later, it was my turn. the interviewer (who wasn't even the consul) scolded me, bakit daw hindi kami nagsabay-sabay. it was annoying because we told them from the start AND there wasn't a sign ANYWHERE that you can do that! anyway, our visas were ready after 4 days naman so ok lang. that wasn't the problem, of course.

my sister was only able to have her interview 3 days after ours because she has a very hectic schedule in her residency program. the problem was, we noticed that her visa application was taking very VERY long (amidst it being an 'extension' of our application since our parents are the primary financers) and our flight was nearing. we still needed to pass my sister's passport to schengen for stamping (she was already interviewed but they wanted uk to stamp first because processing in schengen took longer). at first, the embassy told us to just wait. fine, we waited... but three days before our flight, wala pa din. our agent called up someone in the agency and this person told us to have my sister call her personally (let's call the person in the agency L). so 2 days before our flight, i went to my sister in the icu where she was stationed just to pull her out so she can make the call because L didn't want to entertain my mother even though we explained that my sister was stationed in the icu. all L told my sister was that at most, her passport and visa can be released the next day but she can email her (L ha, not even the consul) a letter asking for consideration to speed up the process and if can be released early the next day. todo gawa kami ni mommy ng email and sent it before lunch time. my sister even called up L to inform her that the email was sent.

the day before our flight came. ate and i were on our way to uk embassy. she called up L again to ask if the passport and visa were ready. L was like, "who's this again?" so my sister introduced herself again and told her that they talked a day before. aba, ito palang si L hindi binasa yung email and would just be reading it that morning! L told us that the documents were not ready and that it would be released from the main office around 1pm pa and that we can pick it up from their embassy at around 4-5pm... which was already after office hours. my sister explained again that we really needed the documents because schengen (which was closed for that day but agreed to accommodate us for stamping) was waiting for it. alam niyo ba sabi nitong si L? she told us that the schengen consul should email HER and request for my sister's documents. i got really annoyed because first of all, email again!? she didn't even read the email she asked for the day before! and second, SHE was asking for the CONSUL to email HER? parang may mali. what we did was to go to schengen embassy and my sister talked to the consul who happened to remember her since she was the only one in our family who was interviewed by the consul himself. buti mabait si consul. he personally called up L to tell her that yes, they were waiting for my sister's documents. immediately, L asked us to go to their main office in mckinley hill to pick up the documents. we got there before 10am and guess what? the documents were already ready (contrary to what she told us). 

we were just grateful that we got to travel together to europe but it's still annoying that there are people like L who enjoy pulling people down. my aunts also had problems with the uk embassy. they approved their visa but the date written started from the day AFTER their first day in london. they had to bring back the passports for correction and the embassy again only released it a day before their flight.

I'll be applying for a UK visa here in Taipei and I hope walang ganyang scenario... haggard!  I already have my schedule for submitting my requirements... pero hindi pa complete requirements ko, lol. I still need my sponsor letter and photos!

Hi mga sis,

I'm offered a job by a company based in UK, pero prior to officially accepting the position they've invited me to visit their office for 1 week at their expense. The position will be based here in the Philippines. Question now is since I'm staying there for only a week, will I be under General Visitor or Business Visitor? Not sure if they are both tourist visas, anyone has an idea?

^sis based from experience, malalaman mo lang when you receive your passport. idedeliver naman nila yung passport mo sayo if you applied for the 2GO service.

Help!! I may have lost my appointment reference number sa VFS for this monday. hahanapin ko pa baka yung copy ay nasa laptop lang ng officemate ko. but what if it got lost talaga? what do i do?

sis Trustingsoul, we are exactly in the same position. I also just got hired by a UK-based company, but will be working home-based. I need to go to the UK in November (1st week) because that's where I will be oriented and all equipments (laptops etc) released to me.

My Visa appointment will be on the 17th (i know, madalian kasi they just confirmed the dates eh). I'm not worried kasi I've been to the UK a couple of times before and the visa processing time is really fast. so I'm hoping ganun padin.

Anyway sis, for those instances, VAF-C (general visitor-business) yung kinuha ko. Wala ng nirequire sa akin na financial documents, kasi yung invitation/sponsorship letter ko, indicated that everything will be paid by that company eh. Also, bakit sis mag-aavail ka sa Global Visa? You can do it yourself naman. The VFS website and the UK border website are very helpful.

Nope, I won't avail their services. Nag inquire lang ako out of curiosity, since free naman. At least mag ka idea na rin ang iba kung magkano. Nabasa ko din ang blog (wanderlass) about getting UK Visa, and it's very helpful.

I'm praying na okay pa rin ang offer nila. Currently, I'm waiting for their go signal to process my papers. They're talking to their legal officer pa daw.

Hubby is currently applying to UK based company and the job is located there now one of the requirements is "should be eligible to work in UK" do we need to apply for that? And how we'll be able to have that? Thank You Pardon my ignorance

^sis OT na your question since this is a Travel/Tour board but will answer you anyway. "Eligible to work in the UK" means he is either a UK citizen or resident or has a working visa already prior to application. But if he is planning to apply for a working visa prior to his application I doubt he will be granted one unless the company he is applying at will sponsor him.

Just got our UK visa today, just want to share my experience:

Tuesday - 9am appointment. I was at the VFS office with my 2 kids and we submitted our docs. Dami ko pang tanong and mga pahabol na docs and the personnel who assisted us was very polite and patient. Pagdating sa biometrics, one at a time lang, so kahit kids dapat mag-isa lang. But they eventually asked me to accompany my kids to help in getting their fingerprints.

Wednesday - afternoon. Got an email that my visa will be dispatched soon and to allow 3 days for the delivery to the Visa Application Center. The email was not from VFS, so I assume it was from the British Embassy.

Thursday - Got an email and text from VFS that my application has been processed and that we can pick-up our docs the next working day.

Friday - Picked-up our passports and other docs.

I'm thankful for the fast and hassle-free application.
