GRADE SCHOOLS - feedbacks and reviewa

While talking with a co-parent at a party and how she hates the big boys' school nearby because of the traffic, parking problem, OA rules after the accident involving a child there a few years ago, how the teachers are not so familiar with the Singapore curriculum kaya haphazard ang implementation, etc., I just realized na kailangan din pala maging factor these aspects in making a decision.  This co-parent of mine kasi has another son soon to enter prep and despite her elder son being at the big boys' school, she is planning to send the younger one to a non-traditional school because two boys daw in the same big boys' school is too much for her to take.  Sobra daw siyang stressed at mainit ang ulo every day sa sunduan aspect pa lang, pati yung new curriculum inaaral din niya.  It does not help din that the admin has a kind of "take it or leave it" attitude sa mga complaints ng parents about the new curriculum and rules kasi nga may pedigree na ang school nila.  Kumbaga, you should be grateful that we are molding your son into a man for others, parang ganyan ang dating.  Ikaw ang mag-adjust at tumutok sa anak mo or something like that.  Take note, the boy is in the Honors class at nakipag-meet lang ang co-parent ko sa Science teacher because her son got an 80 in Science.  All his grades nasa line of 9.

I do not remember my mom having experienced that kind of stress when I was studying in a traditional, all-girls school.  Times have changed.

Takot ako sa stress na ganyan kasi mainitin din ang ulo ko.  Hindi ko alam if I have the composure to deal with this kind of external stress.  Seriously, I am really praying for enlightenment because as much as I want a stress-free existence, I also want to place my children in an environment where they will thrive.  Isip isip talaga.  I have almost a year pa naman to decide.

^oh my! yan pa naman one of the schools we're considering for M. but I personally felt that during my time there. Its more of like what you said "be grateful that you're here in this school". Unlike with smaller, more intimate school the aura that you feel from school administrators/teachers is "it is our pleasure to have your kid study in our school".

^ What really irked my co-parent was the statement of the Science teacher (who, by the way, had the longest line daw sa one-day PTC) to the effect na "tutukan mo ang anak mo."  Her exact words.

Ibang-iba ang orientation in our sons' present school where the teachers really sit down with parents and make suggestions on how to help our kids, plus the fact that they themselves make adjustments for the kids. Mami-miss ko iyan, if ever nga matuloy kami sa BBS.

I am glad though that hubby was with me when I was talking to co-parent.  He is the one na resistant ng konti sa idea of having the kids go to a non-traditional elementary school.

For balance, I will also interview other co-parents with kids in that big school.  So far, ALL the parents I know who send their kids to that non-traditional school are very happy and have been encouraging me to send my children there.

my kids are both from grade school and high school. they transferred from a progressive school.
in grade school, my kiddo didn't have a hard time adjusting.  during recess and lunch, the girls stick together and eat together.

best bet is to call up the school and find out if they are already releasing application forms for the next school year. just check the website

pasali po ako mga sis...naghahanap din kasi ako ng good school para sa 2 little girls ko.... dito po lemery batangas....pinagpipilian ko kasi ang OLCA(our lady of casasay......) saint mary's, swiss, san po kaya maganda??? thanks poh^________^

@yazylove thanks sa reply, kung itatransfer ko sila next year, grade3 ang bunso ko at grade4 naman panganay ko...malayo kami sa university of batangas...mas malapit kami sa lemery...diko alam san school ko sila itatrasfer next year.  sana yung di masyado mahal pero good ang school. dalawa kasi akin,.^____^

My son is currently a prep student at Meridian. Okay naman sa Meridian (you can read my feedback here: http://www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk/index.php/topic,253899.0.html) but I'm thinking of transferring him to a different school for Grade 1.

I got interested sa Akademeia dahil dun sa isang post on this thread but when I searched online, they only have an outdated Multiply site. Does anyone know if they have a current website or can anyone share some personal feedback about the school?

Any other non-traditional schools in Diliman/Katipunan/Scout area? So far, I've inquired with Raya and Learning Tree and I'm planning to inquire at Centro Montessori based on the positive feedback here. I'd be interested in any and all other recommendations/suggestions. Thanks!

Tuition fee for Keys Grade School - Age 5 and 6 is at P169k (cash) and P182K (monthly installment)

Age 6 & 7 / 7 & 8 - 175k (cash)  and 188k(installment)

Its expensive grabe, I think that's why they don't say over the phone, you have to go thru a school tour to really appreciate what they do.  I really do but we have to be practical may isa pa akong anak na papaaralin.  Sayang.

Im also considering don bosco sta mesa, I went there and was impressed with how they run things and their curriculum. Its traditional plus integrated method.
And they have the PREVENTIVE method, the teachers and nuns are always visible interacting with kids. 

Im 90% sure I want to bring my kid there... for prep.  Their classroom for preschool is as big as for 30 kids but only has 15 kids.  So there is room to move, like one side is traditional setting , the other is where they can do group work and stuff.  Really nice.

ang mahal naman sa Keys. isa pa naman yan sa options ko kahit malayo. Nasa makati kasi kami and I'm looking for a good school for my son who'll be in grade 1 this june. ang mahal ng mga schools ngayon and nakakaiyak. I want the best school but hindi talaga maaford. feeling ko i'm so helpless.

my son kasi is not yet ready sa traditional school kasi sobrang maiksi attention span nya and he's so quiet. worry ko pag traditional school, baka matabunan sya sa sobrang rami ng students sa iyang room and he won't be able to learn anything. now, okay naman grades nya but less than 20 lang sila sa prep class nila now. i also worry about bullies kasi hindi marunong gumanti yung anak ko.

haay. napaka stressful talaga ang pag hanap ng school na swak sa location, budget and needs ng anak ko.

sis, i made a u-turn and decided to enroll my kid sa CGF. it's near shopwise.. yung teacher-student ratio ang nagpadecide sa akin to choose that school.  english instruction din sila.

Sis, kumusta naman ang CGF? malapit lang din sa amin yan eh. isa din sa mga options ko kasi reasonable nman ang tuition tas konti lang sila in a class. pero natatakot ako sa stairs nila. lalaki kasi ako anak ko at baka magtulakan or maglaro sa stairs at baka ma hulog. *knocks on wood* ok naman yung teachers? what grade is your kid, sis? thank you!

Hi Ladies, I'm new here..just want to know if you know a good private school(COED) in Imus Cavite. We are planning to buy a house in Lancaster Residence but I need to know if there are good schools but with affordable tuition fee. My son is currently enrolled in Espiritu Santo Parachial School in Tayuman. The tuition fee there is around 30K. Would you know any private school in Imus Cavite with that amount of tuition fee?My budget is 30K-40K. I also prefer a very near school location within our house.
