Just to give feedback, I had my post-birthday celebration at
Astoria Plaza Ortigas where I invited my family and relatives for an overnight stay. I booked it via Asia Travel which is much cheaper compared to booking directly to the hotel. I booked a 1BR suite which is roughly around 70-80 Sq Mtrs with kitchen facility na.
Happy to share that:1. We were given 1BR suite facing Ortigas-Shaw-Edsa so we have a view of Shaw Boulevard, Shangri-La, Cityland Shaw Tower and such in that area.
2. We were alloted 1 parking slot only but the good thing is hindi sila nagcheck ng kahit na ano from our things while we enter the hotel. We brought packed foods, Bacardi for mojito, soda in plastic bottles, water, rice cooker, chips, cookies, etc. that will last overnight.
3. We were able to cook inside including our breakfast the following morning for those who cannot avail the buffet breakfast.
4. If we leave the hotel using the car kung merong bibilin outside, you need to validate your parking slip at the lobby and when you enter the hotel once again, you will be given another parking slot.
5. All the kids were able to take advantage of the pool area.
6. We brought Wii and the kids used it in the TV allotted in the living room area
7. I requested for a twin bed and it was granted naman din so what we did is hinati namin yun 2 twin beds para apat na beds yun nakalatag (so far hindi naman kasi matigas yung bottom part ng bed nila).
8. They have almost complete kitchen utensils plus microwaive and the ref, including 4 plates and a few pairs of spoon, fork, knife. There's one pan and 1 caserole and a 2-slot induction cooker. There's also an electric kettle (so walang coffee maker which is sayang naman).
9. Hindi kami nasita sa ingay ng mga kids and sa dami namin.
10. Accommodating naman yung utility person when we requested to be guided on some appliances there and nung nagrequest kami ng extra rug sa floor.
Not so OK:1. One (1) Parking Slot lang allocated for 1BR (I don't know for a 2BR suite) and if you opt to bring another car, they charge P60/3 hours and P20/succeeding hours. Overnight parking rate for cars is P500 while P300 for motorcycle. Though there is an open parking nearby for P100/overnight but shempre park at your own risk.
2. Medyo mahirap din yung hindi sila nagche-check ng mga gamit ng mga pumapasok malay mo may makapasok na pala na terorista (over-thinking) hehe.
3. Walang coffeemaker even if you request it at magbayad ka pa. Sana I bought na lang my coffeemaker para hindi kami nagtiyaga sa 3n1 coffee. Hehe.
4. They charge rice cooker for P300 during your whole stay. Buti naitawag ko agad ito so I brought na lang my own rice cooker.
5. According to my sister, hindi naman ganon kalaki ang variety ng foods served during buffet breakfast but it costs P500 nett if you opt to eat there (2 adults free for buffet breakfast, 0-5 years old free, 6-11 half the price, 12 and up considered as an adult).
6. Only one (1) gadget is allowed for a free wi-fi access. If you want to have an additional gadget, they will charge you P100/stay (itatawag lang sa receptionist).
7. Medyo may katagalan yung check-in time e konti lang ang seats sa lobby. I think it took us 20-30 minutes to complete the check-in time until we went to our room.
8. Konti lang ang options ng channels sa tv nila though naka-cable naman I don't know lang what cable provider nila. The tv doesn't have a usb port so hindi uubra na magdala ng external HD then magplay ng movies from there. But there's a DVD player so you can bring some DVDs which is OK na din. Hindi naman sensitive yung player sa mga pirated don't worry. Haha!
Overall, we were happy naman with our stay in Astoria Plaza Ortigas. Lalo na nga at we can bring almost everything so walang hirap magpasok ng foods. They charge corkage fees for beers na naka-case at mga foods na naka-bilao. Style lang talaga is to pack your foods sa mga big trays and put it in big eco bags para hindi pansinin.
We are planning now to stay there for New Years but will get a 2BR suite na siguro by then. We like the idea to spend it there overlooking the fireworks in the metro.
