^sis, baka na-confuse ka. Ang binawasan ng bayad is the airport tax and not the travel tax. The PH travel tax remains at Php1620/pax.

A travel agent told me that kids travelling overseas below 12years old can get a refund of travel tax 50% you just need to show the passport in the department of tourism but may 200 php na fee. Has anyone tried this? Saan ba ang department of tourism?

^it's called the RTT (reduced travel tax) and yes, it is real. I do it all the time with my kids. In case you've a kid below 2yo naman, there's the TEC or tax exemption cert. I used to process those at the PTA office in Kalaw but I now get my certificates at the airport before having tickets issued (airport staff kaya can enter the terminal anytime).

For those who buy tickets online, you can process those at the PTA counters at the airport before checking in.

^^^ My son will be travelling this coming Feb and May pwede ba akong pumunta sa Kalaw then have it processed na ng sabay? Paano kapag nakabalik na pwede ba ihabol yung RTT?  My brothers in law kakabalik lang nila from china medyo marami silang bata na kasama sayang naman kung pwede i refund.  Are the requirements just PASSPORT and Birth certificate (orig or xerox)?  Thanks so much!

^I haven't tried (and do not know if it's still possible) refunding pag flown na. For future trips (for online booking or to-be issued pa lang, you just need to present the child's passport and pay a fee of Php200. So at 50% off ng P1620, it's P810+200. I think you can have two RTTs issued cos it's indicated at the bottom of the certificate na good for one departure only. I've never submitted NSO docs. It's not required sa issuance of RTTs pero sa refunds, hinahanap ata. I've refunded a nonrevenue ticket once pero unused pa so di ko pa na-encounter yung sa case mo.

^^sis, dapat unused pa yung tickets to get a refund. Once flown na yung tickets considered used na yung travel tax and no refunds are possible.

Better get the RTT (Reduced Travel Tax) before ka magpa-issue ng ticket when buying from a travel agency or airline ticket office.

Pag e-ticket naman, you can get the RTT from the airport Travel Tax counter at the departure lobby.

Not sure where to post this question.
Is it safe to book a flight if the time difference between the connecting flights is 1 hour only? Am planning to fly via Cathay Pacific. If not, ano yung safe duration between connecting flights?

^minimum connecting time for CX or KA in CLK is 50 minutes. But personally I'm more comfortable with an hour and 30 minutes connecting time in HKG.

If you're connecting at another airport allow at least 2 hours in between flights if your bags are tagged all the way to your final destination. If not allot more time to get your bags and for check-in on your onward flight.

^Thanks mama squeak. I settled with the earlier flight with 4 hours difference. Nakaka-rattle yung 1 hour lang. Chances are, I won't arrive with my baggage kapag ganun.

^If you don't mind my asking, where are you connecting to? If you're taking CX from Manila, 2 hours connecting should be more than enough. Ang haba ng 4 hours! Sabagay lots to do naman at CLK.

^MNL-NRT with stopover at HK, autumn season. Backreading another thread now.  The first time I flew with CX, my baggage was delayed (1.5 hours stopover) so I am more cautious this time. HK Airport is very entertaining naman, may free internet pa. Teeeheee!

^Was that during your Europe trip? Not happy to hear that.    What I always do every time I transit at any airport I always ask the ground staff at the gate of my connecting flight to check with the ramp staff whether my bags made it to the flight. Para sila din ma-alert in case missing or delayed yung bags. It's easier to trace if done earlier than later kasi.

mga sis, have you heard sa news na ibabalik sa Php750 ang airport tax? kelan daw yun? hindi ko kasi masyado narinig yung details sa news kagabi. we'll travel pa naman next month baka maabutan pa kami...waaaaah sayang din yun

^There are plans to bring it back to Php750 but it has to go through legal proceedings. As of now wala pang petition.

ill be applying for my son's RTT sa Kalaw, can we also pay the travel taxes and airport taxes there para hindi na kami pumila sa airport (DMIA)? Passport lang ba ni son yung requirement? Sa airport tax ba walang RTT hehe

I'm using AirAsia's web checkin din kasi para di na rin pipila sa check in. first time kasi namin with a child in tow. TIA sa replies
