Threatened Preterm/Premature Labor

Hi mga sisses!
I know I shouldn't but can't help worrying talaga! 

When I woke up last july 10 , i had brownish discharge. But before we went to my OB for check up, hubby & I attended pa the bf'ding seminar at the tmc since afternoon pa yung scheduled pre-natal check up ko.. I was very shocked when my OB told me that i'm having pre-term labor & 1cm open na daw yung cervix ko at 31 wks!  Prior to that, I was having contractions that i thought were just braxton-hicks kasi di naman regular... 

right then, I was admitted. I was given steroids, pampa-mature daw ng lungs ni baby if ever mag-progress yung labor & the contractions were also monitored. Thankfully, i was released the next day.. I was prescribed 2wks bed rest & isoxilan 3x a day para ma-relax ang uterus. After that, pinayagan na ko ni OB bumalik sa work kasi nabawasan na yung contractions, di na umulet yung unusual discharge & nag-close daw ulet yung cervix ko (pwede pala un?!  ).

I still experience contractions though di naman ganon ka-regular. Worried lang ako kasi sept 8 pa talaga due date ko & more than a month pa para mag-full term si baby... 
Sana naman, makahintay pa sya...

For those who have had this, please share naman your experiences & yung mga precautions na ginawa nyo to delay/stop pre-term labor... How far were you able to delay giving birth? Tom pa ulet ang check up ko & i'm praying that everything turns out fine!

Medyo nahirapan din ako sis nung preggy ako.

Nung earlier part of pregrancy ko I had a threatened abortion. Pagdating naman ng ika5th-8th month ko, delikado din dahil baka ma preterm naman (hay).

I really had to take a rest (a lot of rest!). Bawal sa kin ma-stress. Madali kasi uminit ang ulo ko, minsan pipila lang ako sa public toilet sa mga malls, iinit na ulo ko then magkakaroon na agad ako ng contractions. Most of the time hindi na lang kami lalabas ni hubby

I had to take extra precautions din sa mga kinakain at sinusuot ko (clothes and shoes). OB instructed me na itaas daw yung paa kapag nakahiga. Kaya kahit natutulog ako, nakataas paa ko. Pati position ko sa pagtulog dapat maging komportable din (i'm not sure kung sa right or left dapat nakaharap, hehe)

Everytime I would have contractions, punta din kami agad ni hubby sa OB para macheck up kaagad.

I gave birth saktong ika38th week ko.

wow, congrats sis! at least, full term mo na-deliver si baby kahit may mga challenges on your pregnancy! 
every time kasi na may contractions ako, napapraning ako na baka ma-premature delivery si baby...    sabi nga ni hubby, wag ko na lang isipin yun at baka lalo lang mapasama dahil sa stress ko... hay!

HAPPIE MOMMIE   my last one was born at 31 weeks.
                         Pina bed rest ako, eh I did so for 2 days, got so bored. Then went to the office,  and in less than 48 hours.. ayon, back in the hospital.   

Pag sinabing bed rest.. mag bed rest ka talaga... as in bathroom visits lang tayo mo.

My baby stayed in the hospital for a month and 1 week...

I had this too with my first baby. At 33 weeks I bled. Confined ako sa hospital for 3 days because I was having strong regular contractions na tapos 3cm dilated na ata ako nun. I was given steroids na rin just in case mapaaga talaga labas ni baby. Buti nagslow down yung contractions so pinauwi na ako.

Sa bahay, strict bed rest ang utos ng OB. As in bathroom breaks lang ang pwede (I wore adult diapers at night para di na talaga tatayo). I drank isoxillan and duvadillan din for 2 weeks. Pati nga sit up di ko rin ginawa kasi ayoko mageeffort na matindi. Mahirap na. Mga advise na natanggap ko are:

From OB - no contact with hubby muna
From relatives, kausapin si baby na wag muna lalabas and pray lagi

Kaso one morning, my water bag broke na. Thankfully ilang days na lang 36 weeks na si baby nun so di ganun ka-premature. She's doing great now, walang complication whatsoever.

Advise ko sayo, strict bed rest ka lang talaga. Relax lang, think happy thoughts. Wag pa-stress. If you feel at any point na may contractions ka ulit, tell your OB. She would want to know. Baka kasi regular na yan, di lang pansin ulit.

same situation here. 1cm na din ako nung 32 weeks ako. sabi ng OB ko mag bedrest for 1 week and take duvadillan nga daw. after 1 week back to work na ako kasi nung chineck ng ob ko hindi naman nag progress yung 1cm. I am really praying na kahit 36 weeks eh makapag hintay si baby kasi mahihirapan kami pareho at magiging magastos ang mga ganung situation. 34 weeks na ako ngayon based on my LMP and 2 more weeks 36 weeks na. Sana umabot din ako kahit 37 lang kasi ang feeling ko hindi na ako aabot ng sept, as my edd talaga.

I was threatened Pre term when I was 24 weeks. I had cervico vaginitis and I was already 1 cm. I had contractions na so I was confined for 4 days. On my 33rd week I almost ended up having premature labor naman. I was on bed rest until I reached the 36th week. My pregnancy was super complicated but thank god my baby is ok now.

question mga sis, if we experienced preterm labor, that would mean na hindi na tayo aabot ng 40 weeks, tama ba? kasi i am anticipating na hindi na talaga ako aabot ng sept eh, kasi ngayon pa nga lang na 1cm na ako nung 32 weeks ako. i was thinking na kapag tinigil ko yung gamot, magtutuloy tuloy ang contractions ko. gusto ko na rin kasi mag deliver ng 37 weeks kasi ang hirap ng ganito. kahit ako, napapraning din ako pag nagcocontract ang abdomen ko, feeling ko any moment lalabas na si baby pero nagppray ako na wag muna kasi mahirap nga. buti na lang may nag create ng topic na to.

your husband is right...  i was so paranoid noon everytime i would have contractions but OB told me to stop worrying dahil lalo lang daw ako ma-stress at mapapabilis panganganak ko.

I just read a lot of books and super sound trip para lang hindi ako ma-bore sa bahay.

hmmm... as far as i know you cannot delay labor. once the bag of water pops that it you have to let the baby out or magagakaron ka dry labor which will cause infection to the baby. i am 31 weeks as well sis and i have been admitted to the hospital twice last may and june for contractions and spotting. imagine i was only 20 something weeks then. same din tayo brown discharge.

the steriods that were given to you is betamethasone. minsan kasi we administer that to premature babies pagnilabas na ng mommies to help them mature their lung asap. on your 34th week you can have you biophysical scoring sis. the OB will measure the plate on the baby's bone which is called the femur. it will tell kung mature na ang baby to be out in this world. measurements at 34weeks should be at .2mm and it will reach .6 as it grows.

and yes, sumasara ang cervix sis. case to case basis siya. dahil sa meds na iniinom mo yan. yung iba tumitigil lang ang pagdilate ng cervix yung iba naman sumasara. youre lucky dahil sumara siya sis. =)

regarding with you naman sis. ang safe delivery ng baby is between 36-40 weeks. yung binigay sayo date ng doctor for delivery is at your 40 weeks na sis. most women delivery at 37 weeks. usually pag primi or first baby mahirap daw ilabas pero in my experience sa hospital duties between 37-38 weeks nanganganak na yung may mga first baby. so no need to worry sis bihira naman ang mga taong umaabot ng 40 weeks medyo overdue na nga pag umabot pa 40 weeks. reality based 37-38 weeks. =)

i am due by the last week of september using my LMP or the last menstrual period but i think last week of august to 2nd week of september manganganak na ako. sobra mabigat na talaga tyan ko

nabawasan ang pagka-praning ko having read your stories & advices...    I know it would really be best if I just stay home & have complete bed rest pero at the moment, we cannot afford it, sobrang tight ng finances... of course, i've weighed my options kasi mas lalong malaking gastos pag na-premature delivery si baby... 
Right now, pinagpapasa-Dyos ko na lang na sana makaabot si baby kahit until last week ng aug which is my 37th week... We're very grateful naman kasi as of last sat's check with my OB, baby & I are doing fine... Kelangan lang talaga, extra careful not to be so stressed & tired & also be vigilant dun sa mga warning signs like spotting, persistent & regular contractions and amniotic fluid leak...

sis misteaza, salamat ha! naku 33 weeks pa lang bukas ako based sa ultrasound. pareho kami ni happiemommie na mag 37 weeks sa aug 31. hindi ko din afford na mag leave agad sa work lalo na't tight din ang budget namin pero buti na lang tutulungan kami ng ate ng hubby ko.

^ no prob mga sis. kasi ive been through the same thing mas delikado pa nga ako dahil 20 something weeks lang ako nung magkaganyan ako. ako naman 2nd month palang ng pregnancy ko tumigil na muna ako sa work pero naka indefinite leave lang ako. hindi talaga pwede kasi delicate talaga pregnancy ko. at complete bed rest talaga ako until my 4th-5th month at madalas nakataas lang paa ko sa pader para ma-elevate. medyo tight din budget namin kaya nung medyo ok na ako naghanap ako part time job. korean school ang ginawa ko pero still nahirapan ako dahil i got assigned sa private tutorial. hirap ako sa byahe papunta sa bahay nung batang korean.

pray lang talaga and have faith. lahat magiging ok. ako main concern ko is maging healthy and normal si baby.

naku mga sis, magfile na ako ng LOA this week dahil super bugat na ng tiyan ko. nahihirapan na ako maglakad at magkilos kilos, sumasakit na ang likod ko. mabuti na rin siguro yun, kasi gusto ko makasama si hubby habang kaming dalawa pa lang kasi mawawalan na kami ng time lumabas kapag lumabas na si baby. pahinga na talaga ko until I give birth.

ako din, feeling ko din hindi na ako aabot ng september 21, 40 weeks ako by that time. super bigat na rin ng tummy ko, hinihingal na ako sa mahabang lakaran.

I had a threatened premature labor during my last pregnancy. I was 33-34 weeks pregnant then. May na-feel akong pain sa lower abdomen and parang mabigat yung pakiramdam sa vagina. I consulted my OB at once. She performed IE and to her surprise 1cm dilated na ako and at a beginning effacement. She gave me isoxilan and duvadilan. I was placed at bed rest. Everyday I prayed na sana umabot sa term si baby. My OB nga was predicting na mga June ako mag-gi-give birth because of my situation and 2nd pregnancy ko na din so she assumes na mas mabilis ang magiging labor ko. But I was on my 39th week and 4 days when I gave birth. And when I was admitted sa hospital, I was just and am still 1-2cm dilated. Very amusing on my part. Sobrang bagal pa ng labor they have to induce it pa.
