hey girls I just arrived here at Sydney on the last week of May for a one year course. =)


Looking for a part-time job here is harder than it seems!  Because of the 20hr/wk limitation, employers are more hesitant to because they want people who can work extra hours when they need extra hands, those that are more flexible.  Specially here in the city.  It took me 2 months to find mine and it's just casual(meaning there's no fixed schedule, no sure hours per week, they just call you when they need extra people to fill in) and hassle coz i could be assigned to any outlet. 

just a few heads up too...cost of living here is extremely crazy.  I was quite surprised. A minimum train ride costs 4.40AUD round trip. (around 180PHP!) That's just around 6++ stations covered.

Fast food here costs 200-600PHP.

Also...it's so quiet here!  5PM palang sarado na mga malls.  Nalurklurk ako.  LOL


But other than those downsides, it's been so great having a sense of safety.   Unlike sa Pinas when you have to look over your shoulder 24/7 baka meron nang nakaabang na may balisong sa tabi tabi.

Also, the train system is super nice which is something I LOVE.  Walang siksikan na tipong sa LRT na kahit di ka kumapit ok lang sa sobrang sikip.

So anyways, if you're planning to come here, don't rely on your possible earnings from a part-time job.  I've applied to over a hundred part-time jobs(Fastfood, grocery, dept. store, etc) that doesnt even need skilled backgrounds...but ang sakit, pati mcdo tinanggihan ako? LOL

yes sis tama sila, pag nagtotur din kami hindi kami nagcoconvert,, hayaan mo lang..masasanay ka din

pero diba you can't start working before any intake sa univ.?

yung free service ata ng nuniv. of syd, bus lang to train stations, paano naman yung campus nila kung saan ako 74 hectares!!!! so 7,400,000 square meters katumbas nun! ahe

di pa ako nakakatangap offer uhu kinakabahan ako =(

You can start looking for work before your classes start but you can only work pagstart na ng classes mo.

However you can work on sembreaks, holidays etc

You can start looking for work before your classes start but you can only work pagstart na ng classes mo.

However you can work on sembreaks, holidays etc

oo nga noh mga sis pero, pinangkuha na ako work ng tita ko last month pa, casual palang, sa fruit juice shop, halos kakilala niya kasi mga pinoy sa sydney...

usually kapag ang student visa mo eh 1 year lang, di talaga ikaw matataggap, kahit sa wollies or k-mart, pero tyaga lang talaga makakahanap ka rin ng work goodluck

^di naman sis.marami din grad dip at masteral dito na sa woolies,k mart,coles at big w nagtratrabaho.

Hi mga sis, i find it so expensive magaral dito for international student. Sa TAFE lang eh 10k+ aud/year na agad, considering vocational pa lang yan. Pag nag aus aid naman, you need to return sa country mo after the studies. I want to stay here sana and malakad ang PR, kaso ang mahal pag nag aral. Or are there cheaper means? Fresh grad lang ako sa arts and design in pi so i guess mahirap makuha as skilled dahil no working experience pa.

as tourist lang ako for six months. meron kaso more on top entrance exam churva, which i dont think kaya ng brain cells ko. And when I asked around the unis and schools, parang wala silang alam. go check the website daw ganun.. eh our country lacks the scholarship fund thing. There's china lang, and other countries.

hi sisses! im also applying thru IDP here in Cebu. Im an RN tapos suggest nila is for me to take the Bachelor of Nursing Postregistration program for 1 yr. question lang, ive read kasi na after the program, it does not make you a registered nurse in australia. i still need to take another 12 week program para ma division 1 nurse or registered nurse or possible din daw na after the first sem of my program, i can try applying for the 12 week program. then assuming matapos ko yung 1 yr na BON (P), dapat pa akong mag take ng 12 week program para ma register or pwede na ako mag work as nurse? after ako nakapag work, can i apply na for permanent resident status? or how long before i can apply? kasi i have a 2 yr old daughter and si hubby na maiiwan kaya medyo mahalaga ang waiting time sa amin. thanks

sana sis pag andun nako, hindi naman entrance scholarship dahil wala though mataas grades ko nung college, scholar din kasi ako.

mejo pricey course ko kasi unger medical field.

mga AUS $35k ako per year.
