Sis try checking Expedia.com or Priceline. I believe they have good rates for flights. Try checking with Orbitz as well. You can check what's the best date and what time to fly. All you need to do is play with their website.

I really suggest you book a flight as early as possible cause rates are quite crazy for the past weeks kasi summer break and all. Everybody wants to go some place else. And these sites work on a real time inventory so the price they will quote you may not be the same rate after 1 hour or so. Just my 2 cents.

Hi sis, my tatay and nanay will be travelling to NY on 6th of this month, i was able to book them at Etihad since this was so far the cheapest  airline I could get. Ang disadvantage lang is mahaba ang travel time since pa mideast ang route nila then europe then NY na so ang MLA-JFK is 27 hrs and JFK-MLA is 24 hrs. BUT their price is only around $3100 compare to other airlines na nasa $2K ang one way pa lang or more than $4K ang two way, sayang pocket money na din yun di ba. Anyway, i have tried Etihad and ok naman ang service,pati food at bago ang mga eroplano since bagong airline pa ito. I tried checking for their rate sa ibang site (expedia etc.) so far konting difference lang  sa rate so I decided to book directly on their own site.

Yun lang po and sis chamonix617 is right, you should book as earlier as possible kasi habang nagiging close ang date mas nag mamahal ang air faire. Good luck sa trip and enjoy your vacay! NY is indeed one of the greatest place on earth!

August is peak season kasi bakasyon!  (No, in the Phils. it is not bakasyon time)

PAL Economy is about USD1500 .. Manila to LAX or San Fo
Cathay is almost double... Singapore Airlines .. good luck if you can get Economy tickets for the entire month of August.
Even inconvenient Eva Air (5hour stop over in Taipei both ways) is almost double the PAL fare.

1500 ticket ko going to NY, china airlines. went here last may. yun pa cheapest that time. nung una reluctant ako to fly via china airlines but satisfied ako with their service, masarap ang food and on time ako lumapag ng jfk.

jetradar.com is the only place I go to search flights now, after consistently finding them to find the best deals. They don't 'promote' any particular airline, but are totally transparent, plus they include the extra fees and taxes that you know you have to pay but many other 'comparison' sites leave off. This is helpful, as you can make a fair assessment of which is the best price.

^sis, from HKG you have a lot of choices but I don't think there are direct flights to Texas. You can try the following website for comparison of routes and prices.

Coming from Manila, I always take CX to the US. POE ko either LA, SFO, ORD or JFK. Then I take domestic flights, mas mura compared to getting them in one ticket. What you can do buy a round trip ticket to LA with an international airline then buy another round trip ticket from LA to Texas (where in Texas?) with a US domestic carrier.

For Christmas 2013, mahal na like 1600USD. Go for summer 2014 nalang. Usually around 1100+,

Hubby and friends went to Texas last June. Route nila from Manila was MNL-NRT layover-POE sa LAX-domestic flight to HOU. Yung ibang kasama nila MNL-HKG layover-POE at JFK-domestic flight to HOU.

PAL has promo now... Kasi I need to go to Honolulu this October. I checked PAL. For some reason, 505usd ang basic fare per way... but upon check-out nagiging 600 basic fare for both ways na... I think there's a promo somewhere... 1090usd (i think, somewhere there ang figure) lang for the whole trip including taxes... That's way cheap kasi last time I booked (a year ago), I paid 1400usd for my airfare.

Booked and paid our tickets last August 2013 for Family vacay this November, around P 46,000.00
upon conversion per head sa PAL. Di ko pa din nakuha yung cheapest fare, naka wait-listed but i
went ahead and paid already kasi mukhang di ko na talaga makukuha yung cheaper pa sa 46k (all in).
Cheaper actually yung Eva Air at Delta. Pero si Eva air pa din pinaka-cheapest among the 3.
Ang advantage nya din, free ang rebooking. sa Delta at Pal may rebooking fee.
May promo din ang Delta up to September 2013 na purchase ng tickets pero not all dates ay
included sa promo.

Pero i still opted na mag- PAL kasi mas guso ko pa din ang non-stop dahil kasama ko mga kids ko
na maliliit pa. mas comfortable pa,din ako sa PAL. Pero natempt ako sa EVA.
although yung hubby ko, naka Delta kasi nasa Georgia sya nag stay. pero kami ng kids ko,
will stay muna sa in laws ko sa LA before proceeding sa GA but via Delta na.

Although di naman gaun kalaki ang difference ng PAL, Eva at Delta pag individual tickets,
lumalaki lang pag collective savings sa mga tickets.

Lagi kaming PAL papunta sa US or any asian destinations. But my hubby since, sponsored
ng AFP at diretso sa Georgia na sya last April, laging Delta ang afp.
According to him, na first time lang ding nag Delta, nahilo daw sya sa plane compared sa PAL.

Eva Air- Manila-Taipei-Lax pero pabalik sa Manila, magiging Lax-Sanfo-Manila.

Nung ilang beses na nag Texas kami, nagbu-book kami online dun sa cheapest deal online na website
pero sa sobrang cheap, laging naka-cancel ang flight, kaloka! at ang liit ng plane, tapos dadaan pa
ng arizona. pero 200 dollars lang yata binayad namin. sa Virgin at Delta, nas 300 usd ang roundtrip.

anyone knows a travel agency who usually gives cheaper than the online rates of Delta?The travel
agency I usually transact with is about $100-$200 usd cheaper than the online rates of PAL. Pero
pag sa Delta same lang or more expensive. Kaso ayaw ko na mag PAL, next time nalang when I have kids. Right now Id rather bear with connecting
flights than errr bad service.

ako naman once or twice a year mag US pero ok naman service ng PAL.mas convinient din sa akin
yung sked at also yung airport. Hates ko yung old naia, ang gulo.

^Depends when your departure dates are. Better check mo skyscanner.com for fare comparisons. Or kung sinisipag ka you can check the websites of the airlines individually for any fare deals. Minsan kasi hindi nagre-reflect sa skyscanner yung deals nila.

basta Pinas travel, PAL lang kami because we don't like the hassle of layovers.  yes, may 1/2 hour refueling sa Honolulu sa outbound leg sometimes but that's nothing.  at saka mas gusto kong mga Pinoy din ang aking fellow passengers 
but i digress,  anyway,  we have tickets with PAL for 2015 travel LAX-MNL RT for $1100.  this was booked/ticketed last month.

 we have minor na kasama 6 yr old, 3 seniors , me and hubby

what do you think mga sissy is the best airline for us? pinapahanap na kasi ako nila inlaws ng tickets If ever this is my 1st time to travel and see the US
