STC and Miriam are also my top choices as big school for my daughter. so i'm reading up all observations/comments about these two.

My officemate's daughter is in grade 2 and sabi niya ang tuition daw is only around 35K?

this is for high school level. the tuition fees increase as you go along. when i graduated in 2007 if i remember correctly my tuition fee was around 50k per year. that was five years ago; i'm sure nagtaas sila ng tuition

Hi sis, my 4 year old kid goes to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School along Champaca St., Maligaya Park Subd. QC. Near SM Fairview and Robinsons. Kinder level ang daughter ko sa kanila and I can say na ok naman ang surrounding ng school ... though medyo crowded nga lang yung place, coz the school is located inside the subdivision. As to the studies of the kiddos ... eh I can say na ok sila ... infact my kid is among their top students sa kinder level   They own the school service kaya secured ang safeness ng mga bata. From the time na sunduin sila sa house up to sa paghatid sa kanila sa mismong classrooms nila ng conductor ng service. And vice versa sa pag uwi ng bata ... the conductor will fetch them from their classrooms and will guide them hanggang pagsakay sa school service nila. Not only that, they also make sure that ihahatid nila ang bata sa mismong bahay nila ... wherein aantayin talaga nila na makapasok na ang bata sa loob ng bahay nito bago sila umalis. I, myself, withnessed this ... one time kasi hinatid nila yung anak ko from the school ... eh kaso mo pagkababa ng bata sa service may tumawag sa kanya na kapit-bahay namin ... ayun hinantay ni kuya conductor na may magbukas ng gate namin at makapasok sa sarili nitong bahay bago sila umalis (sinumbong pa nga sa akin na pumunta yung anak ko sa kapit-bahay kasi tinawag siya hehe). Hindi nga lang sila AC rooms ... but well-ventilate naman.

Their tuition fee is so very affordable ... hoping na sana hindi sila magtaas like other Catholic Schools hehe Mababait at accommodating naman ang personnel, teachers and staff ng school ... but as for this year they are under a new administration kaya medyo naga-adjust sila ng konti .... but manageable naman ang adjustments nila

is it ok to enroll my child in a chinese school even if we're not chinese?  wala kasi akong makitang ok na coed school in qc eh.

^ Meron naman.  But mostly, progressive schools like Multiple Intelligence, Raya, The Learning Tree... And Montessori like Abba's Orchard and Centro Montessori.

May Waldorf school pa ba sa Heroes Hill and New Manila?

^my sons are currently in a progressive preschool but when my older kid took the entrance exam in claret, he didn't pass it although they're willing to accept provided we sign a waiver daw 'cause he'll be in probation for a year.  nakakaloka diba?  so we're thinking of moving both boys (my other son is only in nursery) to a traditional school na lest they both find it difficult to enter highschool since wala naman akong alam na HS na progressive.  so, scratch out na for us ang mga progressive schools.  yun nga lang aside from claret, wala nakong maisip na school for my boys.  specially since i prefer coed schools.  claret kasi is affordable, has a good rep and my son loves the facilities, kaya we're considering it. 

w/regards to UPIS, i heard it's difficult to get in if you're not working there or an alumnus. 

we visited angelicum and unfortunately my son didn't like it there.  last resort ko na are the chinese schools like the one in new manila.

^ My son is Senior Kinder at St Mary's QC. Prior to St Mary's, he attended 2 years in UP CDC which is progressive. My son didn't pass UPIS but most of his classmates in UP CDC na UP Dependents passed. Were not UP employees kase. My hubby is from Claret GS and Pisay HS so we considered Claret pero ayaw kase tlaga ng son ko ng all boys school.

Currently my son is doing well in St Mary's, in fact, he's doing very well that me and my husband is wondering if mababa ba yung standard ng St Mary's or magaling lang tlaga yung anak namin. We have no way of comparing kase we dont know anyone from other private schools like Ateneo, La Salle etc. saka nahihiya din naman kami to ask baka kung ano isipin ng parents na pagtatanungan namin.  Ang target kase tlaga ng hubby ko is that my son pass Pisay for high school since alumni sha.

We live near St Mary's pala so that's one of our considerations as well. 2 of my son's classmate in UP CDC also attends St Mary's.

^i will suggest sana Diliman Prep to you, pero medyo malayo na pala sa area mo. In your area, aside from St. Mary's and Jubilee (i think ito yung sinasabi mo na chinese school in new manila, am i right?), diba St. Paul QC daw is co-ed na, you might want to check it. Siena college also, coed na din daw (naalala ko lang when you mentioned Angelicum, diba magkalapit lang yun). Other coed schools in qc, pero di ko sure kung okay are St. Joseph and Trinity along E. Rodriguez

Re Diliman Prep, it's owned by former Sen. Nikki Coseteng.  Nag-present sila sa school ng kids ko before and based on their presentation, mukhang strong sila sa Science curriculum.  May Robotics nga yata sila grade school pa lang.

Just sharing: My niece started in Holy Spirit QC near BF Homes (Prep to Gr. 3) then transferred to Diliman Prep from Gr. 4-6. She's now back in SHS for highschool.

We're not really impressed with Diliman Prep. Parang mababa at maluwag ang standards nila sa academics ngayon. My niece easily excelled in her subjects nang wala masyadong effort at tutok sa pag-aaral. She's back in SHS and it has been quite a challenge for her keeping up with the pace, subject topics and academic demand. Syempre may factor din naman iyon na highschool na kaya mas mabilis talaga ang pacing at mas mahirap din ang topics.

I was told that way back in the 90s, Diliman Prep used to produce students who excelled in math and science. Mukhang hindi na yata ganoon ang kaso nila ngayon.

About St. Mary's, my kid is in grade 1 right now (Raya) and St. Mary's was the only trad school I (we) entertained. I also entertained Claret but I wanted to put him in a co-ed school. I really don't have much feedback about St. Mary's except that a couple we know are products of the school from prep to highschool and they're down to earth, socially aware and critical people. They're now sending their own kids there.

now st. mary's has suddenly appeard in my radar.  i will consider this school, since it's a co-ed. yung stories kasi about lesbian relationships in exclusive girls' schools really spooked me out.

no offense meant, it's just that something like that is totally strange to me. i'm from Binan, so considered province na sya specially at that time i was in GS and HS, kaya medyo conservative siguro.

^ My niece is currently a gr. 1 student in St. Mary's QC. So far happy ako (ako kasi guardian nya) sa style ng teaching, they have quizzes almost weekly, kaya pagdating sa Periodical exams, everthing is still fresh in my niece's mind. No bully issues to far.

Tuition is around 30k, includes the miscellaneous (field trip, ID). Sobrang imbibed ang catholic teachings, they have 1st friday masses and almost always, asks for donations (food & necessities & sometimes money) for the poor.

I'm choosing between STC and Miriam. What would make you decide on STC or Miriam?

My son is currently a prep student at Meridian. Okay naman sa Meridian (read my feedback here: http://www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk/index.php/topic,253899.0.html) but I'm thinking of transferring him to a different school for Grade 1. I got interested by the post about Akademeia but when I searched online, they only have an outdated Multiply site. Does anyone know if they have a current website or can anyone share some personal feedback about the school? Thanks!

I'm choosing between STC and Miriam. What would make you decide on STC or Miriam?

Hi sis, I just paid the reservation fee for my daughter's slot at Miriam.

What made me decide? First, when I enrolled my son in Ateneo, I pretty much limited my choices for my daughter.

Anyway, I was then deciding between Miriam and Holy Spirit. Both are good schools naman. Pero na-outweigh ng convenience ang decision ko, since I wanted magkalapit schools ng mga anak ko. You may ask for feedback and go through forums -- maraming magsasabing go for Miriam, marami din magsasabi go for STC. At the end of the day, both are still good schools naman. It would now boil down to you, pagdating sa location, tuition, etc. STC is very affordable, from what I know (a co-worker's daughter goes there). Pareho naman Catholic school. So nasa iyo na ang decision where to send your daughter.
