How to prepare for a FUN RUN DATE
« on: July 15, 2010, 10:34:16 am »
Hi guys!

How do I prepare for a fun run date when I'm not exercising lately? I used to do yoga but I don't jog.  Should I start running, jogging or at least mag yoga? I'm kind of nervous but also excited.  What should I wear? Sorry so many questions hahaha! We'll also have breakfast afterwards.  Wah feeling ko I'll smell like sweat after. Hahaha!

It takes some time to build a base actually, if you wanna perform well on your fun run date. :)

There are lots of "From Couch to 5K" programs out there. You just have to find one that work fit and work out for you. The key is commitment and consistency. You're not expected to run fast, or to run 15 mins straight, or to cover a good 5k distance immediately. You're expected, basically, to run though. :)

First. Get yourself, if you can afford, a good pair of running shoes. Have your gait analyzed first. Toby's Arena in Shang, Runnr's in BGC and A Runner's Circle in Manila offer this for free. Buy yourself some dri-fit outfit. There are a lot of sport's stores having these on sale. Utilize your knack for shopping. Ive seen lots of women run using their fashionista tights. Err. You wouldnt want that. Seriously.

Then, find time to run. Could be before work, or after work. Could be your lunchbreak too. :)

Quit smoking. Or at least for the meantime. Quit other uhh vices that you think is detrimental to you and would hinder you from attaining your glamorous performance on your run-date. :) Quit, even just for the meantime. I can guarantee you though, that after building a base, you have a new vice. :)

Consistency is the key. Enough said.

Start joining 3K's. And slowly move up. Im pretty sure, eventually, you wouldnt be needing a date as an excuse for you to run. :)

Enjoy. Goodluck.
