US Embassy/US Visa (Thread 7)

We renewed our visas last week of Feb.

The changes  since our previous renewal - FORM DS 160 filled up on- line now.  You do not get an appointment sched until you file that on- line.
So, that  means the US Embassy has sufficient time  to check all you vital info - true or false ba?   
I suspect that before you even show your  face to the consul eh alam na -  80% - if you will be denied or granted a visa.

Relax, tell the truth - but not the entire  truth if you think  that will not help your app.  Like my tita did not say 1 of  our cousins/ her daughter was getting married to a US citizen  this May. .  Applying as a family is better -  provide an Itinerary from a travel agent as to flight preared to answer other travel arrangement details and be prepared to show proof you can afford to travel as a family.

We were a big group - my siblings and our familes.  Pareho cuento -  gonna tavel in April as a herd.  Lol.  Interview per family.     the common question was -  what was the longest time any of you  stayed in the  US? -- all families asked that by different consuls.   

IMO, YOU GOTTA CONVEY the image that life is better for you here than in the US.   We all got 10 year visas, no exception.  .

^Amen to that! As my Mom would say "Hindi naman ako hot na hot magka US visa. Bigyan nila ako o hindi, I don't care."     She's never had any problems getting a visa. Been travelling to the US since the 70s pa.

ano yung form w-2 kaya?
ok lang kaya from jan- march lang yung bank statement? kasi yung lang ang mabilis kunin sa bank, pag more than 2 months rerequest pa daw sa head office.. pero sana makalusot ang jan-feb-mar as 3 months na.. hehe! watchatink?

Hi everyone, can i ask those who are familiar with the process if there's a possibility na magkavisa ako:
a.) currently employed in an educational institution,with masteral degree,earning 40 thou per month. I've been with the school for 5 years already. It's non teaching full time position.
b.) single,25 years old
c.)mom is a visa holder (for renewal)
d.) family owns house condo and 2 cars. The trip willing isubsidize ng parents
e.)wants to travel this may na kahit two weeks sa texas/LA for visit and tour

I need po advice kasi nagapply na ako nung college tapos nadeny lang ;( i just want to grab this opportunity kasi sabbatical leave ko.     

I checked the schedule sa website. parang wala na sa march, parang sa april na ata. but then we can't fully know the schedule kasi hindi pa rin ako nagfifill up ng application form. Do you think I should go to a travel agency to help/ assist me with the application form?

Hi! I together with my folks are applying for visa renewal on September. Our visas will expire on December. What are my chance of getting my visa renewed?

Profile: Female, 26 years old, Single

Travel: Been to the US 3x (1st was 2005 stayed for 5 months, 2nd was 2008 stayed for 2 months and last was 2010 stayed for 3 months) and also traveled to HK, SG, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan (this coming September)

Have a business, some properties and car under my name.


I was a minor when we applied 10 years ago. What documents do I need to bring?

And also, yung mom ko nag submit na siya ng application niya, dapat mag papa interview na siya pero hindi natuloy kasi tinanong siya kung sino nag fill out ng application niya, sabi niya daughter niya, so hindi natuloy, pero valid for 1 year naman yata.. and now we decided to renew ng sabay sabay. Does she need to pay again? Or pwede baguhin yung application niya and gawin siyang principal applicant? Or kanya kanyang payment?

^kirsten, ewan ko na lang kung madeny ka pa nyan =) bring all necesary docs to prove you can afford to go there for vacation. don't sweat it. *wink*

matchykoi: I'm no expert, but based on what I've read here and on other US visa threads, you have to prove your ties here. Your job would be a good start, it's stable, your employer is reputable (an educational institution you say) and it earns you a mid-level salary.

The fact that you're single and 25 years old might be an obstacle because that's the profile of Filipinos who usually become TNTs in the US. But if you answer confidently, show them that you have a good life here, then they'd know that you have no intentions of overstaying illegally.

Another obstacle is that you yourself won't be paying for the trip. You shouldn't mention that as much as possible.

I don't think the fact that your mom has a visa for renewal (is it a tourist visa?) has any effect on your application. Neither do your family properties. Unless you own them yourself or they're in your name, they bear no weight. It's your family's properties or more specifically, your parents' and not yours.

By the way, what's your travel history? You also might want to build on that first especially since your reason for going to the US is for touring. The consul will have more reason to believe this if you show that you've traveled to many places.

what do you think mga sis? what are our chances kaya? been hesitant to apply parang liit ng sahod then 'yong petition ni hubs..

hello mga sis... i'm planning to apply for a tourist visa within this year. well, wala pa naman ako plan magtravel to US this year. i just want to get a tourist visa na para pag afford ko na magtravel, madali na ko makakaalis... please asses me: 1) i don't have any relatives living in the US. 2) i don't have my own car, wala akong properties. though my mom agreed to transfer our land title to my name. 3) i don't have much savings in the bank, but my brother is willing to lend me some money. 4) i am 30 years old, still single. 5) i work in a logistics company for almost 7 years. 6) curently i am the Asst. Manager for Supply Chain Projects. 7) never been to any country, but i'm going to singapore this coming may, tour lang for 7 days.

i am not really sure na ma-approve application ko... but i really want to try... any comments / advise please... thank you.

Sis - you can try but consuls are very particular with sigles, and little or no travel history.  malaki ang chance mo ma-deny, my opinion of course.  if i may suggest, you establish first your travel history to other countries especially those that require visas like Australia, New Zealand or Japan so that you can prove that you've travelled and you didn't TNT.   Since you don't have definite plans pa naman, i suggest save your money first.

i was denied twice. first last february and second just last week. it was supposed to be a company sponsored trip, purpose is to attend meetings with counterparts and plant visit. i'm single, have not traveled out of the country but with a stable job for 5 years already and still i was denied. badtrip tuloy mga boss and of course ako rin, kase ready na lahat, hotel and flight itinerary.

Ang daming tao kahapon.   Ganun ba talaga palagi?   Nakapasok ako bandang  6 a.m.  (6:15 ang appointment ko),  and by 8:05, natawag na ako for the interview.

The consul did not even look  at me the  entire time.

(California and probably Nevada.)
Q:  What was your longest stay in the US?
(Almost 3 months.)
Q: When was this?
(June to September 1999)
Q:  Your longest stay in the US within the past  5 years?
(My last visit was in 2005.)

(My sister and a couple of old friends from high school.)

(2 weeks.)

(Yes.)
Q:  How many years of experience?
(Gave him the exact number.)
Q:  How much is your monthly income?
(Gave him the guaranteed minimum.)

"Your visa  application has been approved, you will get your passport within the next  3 to 5 working days."
 
Me:  "Don't you need my picture?"

(Dito pa lang ako tiningnan ni Mr. Consul.)   "No, the  one you submitted online is what we will use for your visa."

hello mga sis.. im so happy i found this thread. i am planning to get a US visa.. kami ng baby ko.. kasi si hubby meron na syang 10y Multiple. So kami na lang ni baby. Sa April 6 pa yun schedule namin ni baby sa DFA for her passport at para ma change ko na din yung sakin to my married name.. May chances kaya kami to get a visa?

Please help me naman assess and what else do i need to bring like docs, etc. thanks

- I have a stable job in a big international IT company
- has been working for 8 years
- married (husband has a multiple visa will expire in Feb 2012) kaya we have to leave on or before July this year
- has a car under my name
- savings account (but my savings account is in dollar currency because we have a trading business)
- actually im not sure if i will declare this trading business kasi wala pa kami ITR. lol.. panu kaya to..
- Do i have to change my $ to Pesos na lahat para hindi nako tanungin where I get my $?

congrats Sis landrexi.  madaming bata ba.  my guess kaya madami kasi summer na

sis sachism - malaking chance ninyo.  basta script ninyo, vacation lang.  no need to convert your dollars to pesos.   sama mo  si husband pwede naman kasi kasama mo si baby.  i know getting an intervieew from the embassy is really bad now.   

another option you may want to consider is pa apply mo na rin ng renewal si husband even if valid pa yun visa niya.  para sabay sabay na kayong lahat.  i did that for my son.  isip ko kasi i need to accompany him din if he goes for renewal kasi minor, eh next year na din mag expire visa niya.  kaya sinabay ko na when i renewed my visa.  kaya maski di pa expired visa namin, we had it renewed last Feb. 10 years.    pero of course, establish mo din if your husband has all the necessary requirements, savings and "ties in the PHils" para mabigay siya ng renewal.  If not, kayo na lang muna ni baby.
