Travel agency vs. online booking

if you have a "trusted" travel agent then its good to book or purchase tickets with them...
travel agencies can block the cheapest airfare of an airline na connected sila.

otherwise,

just book your tickets online na lang.

but think of it this way,

what are the expenses of a real business compared to an online business? who has more people? more this and that?

i know of a local travel agency and i believe they're the cheapest because the malacanang palace buys from them (last i heard), and still they're a bit more expensive than some quotes i got online.

but the good thing with travel agencies is, well at least dun sa experience ko,  if you have important flights, multiple destinations and travel goals, knock on wood something happens, all you do is just call them and they will handle things for you.

I always do both. Normally i buy the airlines tickets & reserve the hotel separately. Then let the travel agency do the tours reservation and the itinerary.

before, we got our tickets from a travel agency but after what happened last year na tinakbuhan kame ng travel agent as in MIA kahit pinuntahan pa namin sa house nya sa antipolo (imagine family travel ito as in my aunts/uncles/cousins mga 20pax kame). the travel agent didn't remit the money in the agency..so the travel agency is not liable.

nag online booking na kame ng hotel and ng airplane tickets .. lesson learned na kase..

moving forward, we will still get travel agency services when it comes to tours  pero dapat talaga careful tayo and mega followup in our case kase since 2009 pa namin travel agent un and pag down ang system nila nakakapasok naman un mga tickets and hotel bookings namin before.. but last year ayun..MIA

^Yup, inquiry palang naman. I think kapag nagpa-reserve ka some agencies charge for the reservation then some naman don't.

^I have been using online travel agencies (one travel, cheapoair, expedia) since last year. What I do is I compare the rate vs booking on the airline site. Just last month, I was able to book roundtrip flight from Tokyo to Boston for Php13,800 via Delta air.

Nagtry ko mag-inquire sa travel agency and ang binigay nila sa kin 2 airlines lang na yun pa yung mahal na nakikita ko online. Mahal din exchange rate nila 1USD = P52 + P2k+ fee if bibilhin sa kanila.

^nakikita ko yung expedia and cheapoair kaso natatakot naman ko magbook online. Pero mura talaga sila compared sa rates ng airline na nakikita ko.

^Sis, I have traveled using onetravel (checked on google that this is the same company ad cheapoair). My roundtrip ticket was Manila to Florida. Everything went great. Then this year, I tried booking on expedia then I immediately checked delta air's website to verify my ticket. Looks legit naman.

we have used online booking so many times already - booked hotels, bought plane tickets, booked all inclusive travels with no problem.

^sorry for the late reply.  No, I had to get my luggages and re-check in.  I liked the idea that the flights were several shorter flights than one to two very long flights.  Looking for cheap tickets again for next year.
