hi guys! i've searched GT pero i can't find a similar thread.

my husband and i are planning on putting up a school supplies business. our location is near schools (highschool and 2 daycares), and wala kaming kumpitensya sa area na talagang kumpleto sa inventory. meron isa sa palengke pero madadaanan muna store namin bago makarating dun kaya i think maganda talaga pwesto namin. 

any inputs? thanks!

aside from school supplies.. dagdagan mo na rin other stuff that will catch the fancy of kids and their moms.  Tignan mo Natio Bookstore parang big sari sari store. hehe     

My former secretary, she owns a house right across a school in Marikina.. she has that school supply store but what really brings in the money she says is the snacks she offers.  She made the front of her house soo comfortable.. ordinary chairs and benches pero maganda kasi may roof tapos open air on all sides...   mga yaya, mga mothers stambay doon while waiting.. so there malakas kita ng mother nya (yung mom nya nagpapatakbo and bantay) sa junk food, water, softdrinks and whatever snack she cooks for the day...

samahan mo na rin ng mga accessories, high school students love buying abubots or anik-anik things

nagresearch ako before and you only need 10k as capital to start this business, place rental is not yet included.

you can buy your supplies sa may binondo. super daming wholesaler of office/school supplies there

don't buy too many notebooks kasi hindi daw ito masyadong mabenta
mas mabenta daw iyong mga maps, cards, etc na nabibili lang sa malls pero madalas irequire ng teachers as projects

@ auanesiguro laminating services muna ang kaya namin, di kasi ganun kalaki yung capital. kapag summertime naman, you can make bawi your sales during xmas season. tsaka halos one month lang din naman ang summer kasi May pa lang bilihan na kagad ng gamit.

@ jmeangel i noticed nga na students like to buy mga anik-anik, ganyan din ako nung nag-aaral pa ako, mga cute stuff pero mura lang.
ang notebook parang mabenta lang talaga pag pasukan, thanks for the input, di ko masyadong napansin yun. naisip ko pa naman na baka sa notebooks mapunta [textspeak!] bulk ng inventory.

ang feeling ko lang, medyo matagal ang payback period although hindi naman nabubulok yung inventory ko, ok lang.

kung supplies lang talaga, you can start with only 10k... it's the stall or tindahan that you need money on and the permits

probably you need 30k+ all in all

pwede na nga yung 10k, sa ibang forum kasi may nag-ooffer ng ganon pero if you want na mas maraming choices sa designs and brand (cheap and branded) para may pagpipilian customers mo siguro add ka pa ng another 5k. i already made a list and ni-limit ko lang sa 15k total inventory. 10k for the renovation of our store, sa bahay lang kasi pero gusto ko medyo cute para maka-attract ng customers and another 10k for the shelves and glass displays.

hi sisses!! kami naman may office/school supplies biz kami noon, kaya lang wala na nagmanage so we decided to close it na lang.. sayang nga kasi ok ang biz na to.. but ours was not purely school supplies we also have a xerox machine and gift items like stuffed toys and figurines.. sis aquacharly is right na parang national bookstore na pati mga toys meron sila.. kasi ang mark up ng school supplies is not that much naman plus hindi naman everyday bibili ang mga bata ng paper/pens nila.. so might as well add some stuffs para bonggang bongga ang biz sis..

My brother in law who is a businessman want to give a small business sa younger brother namin, and ito ang plan niya, siya ang mag finance ng lahat ng kailangan, gusto pa niya palagyan ng photo printing at need lang gawin ni younger brother maghanap ng good location at until now wala pa rin, kaya gagawin ko ako maghahanap at ako mag tutuloy ng plan niya for the school supplies business and needs.

Naghahanap hanap na kami ni hubby kung saan may magandang location na may maraming private schools.

i'm planning to open a small school and office supplies business near our home in dasmarinas city, cavite. timeline ko within the month. we already found a commercial space. now, what we need to look for are suppliers. i'm starting with 12K as my capital for the office and school supplies alone.

^I think ok lang yan capital mo, for inventory alone ha and that would depend on how much of the space will be apportioned for the retail of school supplies. It's good to start small anyway and besides, you wouldnt know which items will be most saleable until you open so there's really no need to get such a wide assortment of stocks.

Hi po sa lahat...

I'm new here at FN and I've come to known about this site while i was searching for some tips and article on putting up a school supply business.

I've read all the inputs on this forum and i've learned from it. Matagal ko ng gustong magka business after I stop from work because of my pregnancy. Ang hirap talagang magdecide kung anung maganda lalo na pag wala kang magandang location. Dito lang kasi ako sa amin magput up ng business isang street lang and more less 20-30 families ang nakatira marami namang kids kaya naisip ko school supplies ang itinda since wala pa namang nagtatayo ng ganung business although malapit kame sa puregold so i guess magiging tough ang competition..

Right now my problem is the right pricing for my product right enough para piliin nilang sa aken nalang bumili instead na sa puregold...

Anyways, if you gurls can give some advice or tips please feel free to send me a reply...

my parents used to have this business. though hindi ko alam yung contacts ng suppliers nila, they scoured divisoria for their stocks. meron silang pinupuntahan malapit sa 168. meron din ata sa may juan luna street na nagbebenta ng school supplies.

maliit lang yung mark-up nila, ginagawa nilang mas mababa ng konti ang prices nila compared to national bookstore, for example. they started out with a few notebooks, pens, pads... ang mabenta is yung mga pad paper tsaka bond paper na pwedeng ibenta ng tingi.

yung sari-sari store namin is undergoing renovations, (nagclose [textspeak!] dati [textspeak!] wala magaasikaso)
we're in the middle of a public elem. school and elem/hskul private so malaking tulong din ang school supplies sa tindahan.
may online store pa ako kaya pasok yung mga anik anik para sa mga students.
