How did you get your love for reading?

me, i was influenced by my bestfriend..I love how she has a very broad vocabulary and her choice of words,i love feeding my mind too,kaya siguro nahilig nadin.

Too bad lang, wala nakong masyadong time ngayon.

At around 4 years old natuto na ako magbasa, my mom started to buy children's books for me: the little match girl, the steadfast tin soldier, thumbellina, the little mermaid, aesop's fables, etc. Nung elementary ako lagi ako nanghihiram ng mga books sa library namin, and nung grade 5 and 6 dun na ako nag start magbasa ng mga novels. I am so thankful for my grade 6 adviser for introducing our class to filipino literary masterpieces e.g. Gapo, Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa, Dekada 70. Nung nagpa renovate kami dati ng house, I asked my parents for a mini-library dahil sa dami kong na collect na books.

Until now, I haven't lost my love for reading. Books never fail to entertain and educate me.

sa pagkakatanda ko my love for reading started during my elementary days...mahilig ako nun magbasa ng fairy tales, short stories...i remember elementary din ako nung nakahiligan kong basahin yung noli me tangere...pero nung nag-high school na tinamad na ako basahin. buti na lang nakapasa.

pero sabi ng nanay ko, bata pa lang daw ako siguro mga 2-3y/o old, pag nasa byahe kami, lagi na daw akong nagtatanong kung ano ang basa sa mga signs na nadadaanan namin...baka dun nag-start. hehe.

guess my mother talaga. she hoards magaiznes and books. so pag boring sa bahay, i tend to pore over her books. she also buys children's books nun. kahit na illustrated classics and the usual Disney books.

it was early elem days when i started reading books. nandun yung nagababasa ako ng goosebumps ba yun? yung books about horror stories na for kids, then encyclopedias dito sa bahay, then mga stories sa english and filipino books for school. i always read the stories ahead of class. then natuto na din ako magbasa ng tagalog pocketbooks then i got introduced to harry potter then classics and robin cook's series and the rest is history. i remember when i was a kid pag may mga meetings or pa-gatherings parents ko, either nasa room o nasa isang corner lang ako reading a book. i switch from one genre to another but im not really big on romance novels like judith mcnaught's and the likes. any book that catches my attention id read it although i still prefer novels set in early 1900's or med-thriller/suspense books.

ooh, and i also like sniffing old books. haha. weird habit din.

i like books since i was a kid. but i started really reading pocketbooks when my fave cousin introduced sweet valley kids to me. since then, yun na lagi pinapabili ko ky papa every payday. haha.

my mom, dad even my siblings are not that fond of reading books, ako  lang sa family namin.. elementary nung nahilig ako magbasa, funny comics haha remember ko pa every sunday ng papabili ko sa mama ko pag namamalengke siya,,then nancy drew, hardy boys, dr seuss, i  i enjoyed reading books about Egypt haha - sabi ko pa egyptian siguro ko sa past life ko hehe

my mom bought me sweet valley kids instead of toys when i was nine, so dun na nag-start kung kaadikan ko sa pagbabasa

my mother bought me storybooks from nbs when I started learning how to read. Then a book agent offered encyclopedias with free childrens books, and that opted me to read more.

It was my summer vacations at my cousins house that made me start reading books :-) my cousin introduced me to sweet valley twins and another cousin introduced me to nancy drew. From then on, I used to save my lunch money so I could buy one of those every month :-)

When i was in grade 5, everyone was already reading Sweet Valley Kids and Sweet Valley Twins. And dun na ako na-influence to read kasi i'm not  very social.

it started at my elementary days first book i ever read was heidi and tale of two cities after that the rest is history

Nag-try ako nung high school magbasa, nancy drew ata yun, pero di ko type yung story, took me 2 weeks to finish, then i tried mga RL Stine, nagustuhan ko naman, dun na yung start ng hilig ko sa reading, then I tried sweet valley, hanggang sa pa-mature ng pa-mature yung mga binabasa ko

my older sister got me into reading when i was in 1st year high school and i can remember the 1st book i read was a sweet dreams pocketbook which is just like sweet valley high. later on, i realized we got our love for reading from our dad who has a collection of his own macho-themed novels.

Although my parents both love to read. I owe my love of books & reading to Christopher Pike. The 1st book i read was his Spooksville series 12: The Hidden Beast. I just fell in love with it and before I know it I've been reading and buying books as much & as often as my time and budget would allow.

It started with comics nung grade 1 ako. Then napunta sa magazines. Bago pa sumikat yung Harry Potter series, nabilhan na ako ng nanay ko nun. I didn't know Harry wil be a hit back then. Tapos ayun, bigla na akong na-hook. Di na ako tumigil, gusto ko na magbasa. Hanggang sa binabasa ko na din yung mga books ng mom ko. Pinapagalitan na nga nya ako kase di na daw ako kumakain at natutulog dahil lang sa pagbabasa.

Uh hindi ko rin sure. Kasi my siblings naman hindi mahilig magbasa, even my parents. Ako lang talaga, though we (siblings ko) attended the same school ever since. I do remember na elementary pa lang favorite hang-out ko na ang school library. 

When we were young, my mother sometimes buy books. Kahit paano nakatulong siguro yun.
