Sasha- it's not really advisable to self medicate , for one, the antibiotic may be under dosed and may actually prolong your condition.

The best way to address a boil really is by seeing a doctor, but in my case, the doctor let me do a home remedy because I was pregnant.  Pwede naman pala   And yes, repeated outbreaks may indicate a compromised immune system so it's best to take vitamins or supplements.

Ask ko lang, yung pinanggalingan ng pigsa ko sa braso nagpeklat, nangitim at parang nagkeloid, huhu ano kaya dapat kong gawin?

Ano pong mas masakit? Manganak or magpatanggal ng  pigsa sa ospital? Mamaya na po kasi surgery ko.. I need words of encouragement. Matatakutin pa naman ako

^ I was directed to put a washcloth under hot water and lay it over the carbuncle (yes, it was not just a boil) for five minutes.  I also had an option to sit in a hot bath because the carbuncle was on my hip, but I didn't do that.  After 4 days of hot compress treatments, the carbuncle ruptured and drained on its own.

BTW DocShe_713, my doctor also mentioned that most boils heal on their own and I should see a doctor only if the area becomes increasingly red and inflamed.  Or, if it does not go away within two weeks.

^ Based on how my doctor explained it to me, a boil only has one focus of infection while a carbuncle is a cluster of boils and can cause a deeper and more severe infection than a single boil (this is why I said "not just a boil").  The medical term for boil is furuncle; and a carbuncle is a group of furuncles.

Just relaying how the specialist made me understand my condition... and I so love her for that

no offense meant to doctors pero kaya yung iba sa kanila hindi credible kasi kahit puwede ka naman mag home remedy e sasabihin pa rin na kailangan pumunta sa clinic.

^ Didn't mean to correct you, DocShe_713... just sharing the knowledge that was imparted to me by my specialist.  But since you agree, I guess the information is highly accurate

^^ Well, my doctor is also Head of Dermatology so I guess she wouldn't compromise her career by complicating a simple boil or carbuncle.  And I'm happy to say that my healed carbuncle didn't turn dark! It left a scar (which she said can be treated by ointments) but it has the same color as my skin.

And to everyone else who keeps getting a boil, maybe it's time to rethink your diet and consider taking vitamins/supplements.  Ask your doctor for proper advice

eeekar- yes health cards covers it. If drainage is needed then you need a Surgeon.

^ i know doc pero may wart kc ako near boil kaya nung maliit na ang pigsa nahawa na, tagal na ng boil na ito last july pa pero hanggang ngayon di pa magaling at naging kamukha na sha ng wart sa braso..
Haaay nakakababa ng self-esteem, sa braso pa kaya laging nakatakip ng bandaid.
Ano kaya cause nito? Sobrang linis ko naman sa katawan huhu.. Anyone here can explain whats going on?

@ sis PINKAHOLIC: patingnan mo na yan sa doktor. my sister had a boil a few years back. sa may armpit mismo. sobrang laki nya kaya sobrang sakit din. lagi tuloy nakataas ang braso nya para di maipit ang boil. normally kasi, hinahayaan lang namin yung boil na mahinog ng kusa. pero yung sa kanya lumaki ng sobra. nilagnat pa sya ng halos 1 week. nung dadalhin na namin sya sa ospital, pumutok na and her fever subsided. pero nag-iwan yun ng maitim na malaking peklat kaya di sya makapagsuot ng sleeveless blouse.

I mean magaling na yung pigsa, lumiit at tuyo na then napansin ko parang nagkakalyo na maitim tapos un may mga mata na rin.
Yes naka schedule na akong ipatingin..
May magandang cream para dito, Moncherry un brand bagong discovery at sobrang maganda nga..
Natatanggal din mga skin tag, keloid, mole, all types of warts basta madami di ko pa alam ang price.
