mommies, napansin lang namin ng wife ko na since yesterday sobrang konti lang ng pupu ni baby and until now di pa siya ulit nagpupu..unlike before na mejo madami and madalas. normal ba ito?

hi daddy! si bab ko at 2month once nalang talaga sya nagpupoop. swerte na kung makadalawa sya. hindi ko pa natatanong yung pedia ko about it, pero naggain naman ng weight si baby so i guess ok lang yun. formula na ang gamit ni baby. may times na color green ang poop nya, minsan yellow. hehe

daddy... how old is your baby? if exclusive breastfed and happy baby pa rin sya, just observe but don't worry... common kasi yun sa exclusively breastfed baby around the 2nd month

pero if baby has also started getting fussy, or worse, may fever, and if formula-fed sya, better consult your pedia na lang to make sure it's nothing to worry about

babies should have normal bowel movement of at least once a day.  if there's a sudden decrease in the bowel, remember not to panic.  Give the baby plenty of fluid.

first time that the baby is taking solid foodthen its probably just an adjustment period.

baby is on breastfeed only diet better check what mommy had eaten recently.  Remember that whatever mommy is eating could very well affect baby's diet.

baby is on formulais it a new formula? or maybe somebody is giving the wrong milk to water ratio.  This can cause changes on baby's bowel.  If there's more milk than recommended then it would cause loose bowel; but if there's less milk, it would cause constipation.

Just give your baby plenty of drinks.  If he/she didn't poop for more than 24hrs, buy a suppository at the pharmacy.  Remember to tell that its for infant.  Insert it fully on your baby's anus and just wait.

really sis? mali pala yung akala ko. haha. i thought kapag constipated ang baby, dadagdagan yung water sa pagtimpla ng milk. tapos kapag nasobrahan sa milk naman eh magcacause ng constipation. baliktad pala? hehe. labo ko. kasi naman, when baby was constipated, sabi nila dagdagan ko daw ng water yung pangtimpla ng milk ni baby. like kung 3 scoops tapos 90ml yung water, gawin ko daw 100-110 yung water plus 3scoops of milk.

^ yup, tama si sis jmeangel .. yan din advise sakin ng pedia ko, dagdagan ng kahit isang scoop ng formula tapos ganun pa rin ang water. Constipated kasi ang baby ko, she's now 1 year 4 months pero wala siyang naging hiyang na stage 3 milk. Malakas naman siya sa water. Presently, she's drinking Promil Kid kasi yun na ang pina ka ok sa lahat pero may times na naco constipate pa rin

try to increase the milk powder gradually... like half a scoop more.
this is to test whether doing so would actually work with your child.

my youngest son is on Promil Kid and has been constipated all his life, whatever I do. nasanay na nga ako na ganun siya

I just make it a point to always add a scoop more for his formula and increase water in-take.

ah okei po. so half scoop muna, tapos ill check kung magiging okay na poop nya. thanks po sis, nacorrect yung thinking ko na kapag constipated ang baby eh magaadd ng water para mas hindi malapot yung milk. kabaliktaran pala. hindi ko pa kasi natanong yun kay pedia, all she told us was painumin na daw ng water si baby kahit 1-2oz per day para iwas constipation since formula-fed na talaga sya. thanks po ulit.

Sis, Enfalac LF rin ang milk ng 2 month-old baby boy.  Last week, constipated sya, kaunti at buo-buong pebble-like ang poop nya.  We consulted with his pedia and asked if its time to change milk.  On his 3rd month pa raw.  In the meantime, she prescribed adding 5ml Hotcake Syrup to his 3oz milk bottle to induce poop.  I asked for rationale since sugar lang ito - she said this will counter lck of lactose which softens the poop.  Since she's one of the senior pedias at Capitol, I trusted her and true enough, after 3 feedings, automatic nag-poop si Baby - softer and more frieuent na.  Also, hindi na umiiri si baby pag nag-poop unlike when he is constipated.  Problem is my huuby doesn't agree and instructed me to stop adding teh syrup.  Tataba lang daw unnecessary kasi sugar so stop ko syrup last night.  Bumalik today ang constipation nya .  Wala pa rin syang poop since last night.  Pinabalik ko na syrup with his dede. Mag-work n asana agad ang syrup.  Balik na lang ako sa pedia after 1 week for alternative to syrup given ayaw ni hubby.

what brand ng hotcake syrup sis? ah bakit ka po nag enfalac LF? is your baby lactose intolerant din? anong milk po ichachange mo if ever? and last question sis, how'd you came up with the decision na maglactose free si baby? thanks

simplykristine08 – On my baby’s Day 3, wala na breastmilk ko.  We didn’t know what to do as my pedia from TMC at that time did not offer any alternative to breastmilk.  Breastmilk advocate kasi sya so my hubby thought of LF to be safe(ex-Mead Johnson medrep sya) and ok naman with my stepchildren.  We called TMC that night and asked a resident for guidance.  They really adhere to DOH’s milk code.   The resident didn’t want to give her name for fear of reprimand but she said ok daw ang Enfalac LF.  We consulted with my present pedia after two days, ok naman din ang Enfalac LF.  Sorry, napahaba.  Mahabang drama kasi pinagdaanan naming sa milk ni baby.  Sa third month, si new pedia magprescribe new brand (she’s not yet inclined to say).  Yun syrup brand?  Wala si pedia prescribe particular brand.  I just bought first thing I saw at Savemore – Pillsbury Hotcake Syrup.  Try ko rin suggestion ni Sis Silverbarrow – Karo Light syrup.  Yun nga lang, mga Sis, “ang bango-bango” ng poop ni baby.  Grabeh!

By the way, nag-poop na si baby this morning after all night feeding with syrup.  1st batch, ang tigas, buo-buo ng poop nya (probably, without syrup ito), next batch – malambot na.  Ganda na ng disposition ni baby after pooping.  Thank God!  Marathon iyakan kami kagabi kasi.

^good for you sis!!! yung karo kasi naalala ko na sinabi ng pedia ko. or yung Clara Ole na sugar free na maple syrup. Nakakaawa talaga pag  constipated sila...yung baby ko halos wala na boses kakaiyak. tapos may blood stain na poopoo niya kaya nakaka alarm talaga

ah ganun ba sis coach. so hindi po talaga lactose intolerant si baby? you just chose to give your baby enfalac LF kasi maganda sya. hehe. ako naman okay sana si baby sa nan one, but when i switched to nan hw, dun na nagstart ang pagarte ng tummy nya. i switched him back to nan one pero same effect dun sa nan hw. i tried din s26 lf, pero ganun pa rin. so talagang binalik ko sa enfalac lf, ayun okay na. no more lungad/spit up moments kame ngayon. yun nga lang constipated sya, minsan pebble-like nga yung poop pero wala pang stain ng blood or whatsoever. sana wag naman mangyari. hindi naman sya umiiyak pero minsan oo din, pero grabe sya talaga umire. kakaawa

i tried pala ng nagdagan ng half scoop yung milk nya. nagpoop na sya kanina, medyo matigas pa rin. baka sa susunod pa na poop nya maging okay na, hope so.. pero im still glad na everyday naman nagpopoop sya kahit once lang. thanks sisses!

i called up pedia and she advised us to try similac hw.
hopefully, baby's poopy will return to normal!

^mag-start pa lang kami sa similac hw, sis kristine.  my baby's drinking similac advance 0-6 mos plus 8-10oz of breast milk (that's all i've got).  in the beginning, ok naman poopy niya but then on the second can of similac, i could feel her tummy rumbling and then her poopy nga became parang glue in consistency.  i asked permission from pedia and since she's on similac, she prescribed similac hw.  it wasn't prescribed because of allergies, it's because of her poopy, fussiness and gas (colic).

naging watery naman poop ni baby before nung nagtry kame similac advance. now at enfalac lactose free, medyo matigas poop nya pero hindi na sya palalungad at nagspit up. buti nalang.
