My sister has been to South Africa.  Based on her photos, my must-see's are:
 - the Table Mountain, which is also now in the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World (right?) and
 - penguins in their natural habitat.

this is on my to-go list in 2014: Capetown and Johannesburg. I regularly watch charlie's bakery in bbc which is set in capetown and the town and the table mountain look amazing!

Stayed here for more than 3 months. I love it specially the weather.
i experinced snow for the first time and seen peguins roaming around.
Capetown is a plane away from joburg, but really worth it.
Super cheap (shopping). Branded clothes on outlet stores, food, chocolates and ofcourse diamonds.

^ when's the best time to visit sis? I'm targetting late August or early septenber in time for summer vacation here in Eu.  I want to stay longer in Capetown thrn just fly to Joburg for a few days:-) Is it expensive sa Joburg?

I was there late July to early nov. It was their late winter going spring so the weather was perfect. They usually have dry winter, wet summer. Since South Africa is all about the wild and nature better to avoid rainy season (summer).
Its cheaper in joburg specially now that the exchange rate is i think 1Rand = 4pesos.
Capetown is expensive since its a tourist destination.

Anybody who has experienced going on a safari tour here? Any price estimates, suggestions? I'm torn between south africa and kenya for my dream african safari trip...

I have tried Pillanesberg Game reserve in South Africa. i dont remember how much, but all you have to pay is entrance fee (cheap lang yan, mura naman kasi lahat sa South Africa), you will use your own car or pay extra to ride the provided ride there. We didnt get the chance to see the all of the big 5, tanghali na kasi kami nakarating eh madaling araw nalabas ang mga Lions. The most popular game reserve is the Kruger Park, but then you have to take Malaria injection/meds prior going to the place and very long drive. About kenya try watching pinoy meets world(you tube), may episode about kenya and nag safari siya dun. Kenya kasi parang poor country in Africa unlike South Africa, so iconsider mo na lang din yun.

Thanks for the info sis! Pero ano bang sa palagay mong pros and cons kapag sa Kenya vs South Africa nag safari? You said I should consider the fact that Kenya is a poor country... mas spartan yung experience? Should I be wary of my stuff? Cheaper rates? Thanks in advance.

Hi sissies, Johannesburg is beautiful. Make sure you visit Lions Park, Johannesburg Zoo, Montecasino and Bird Garden, Sandton City. I love their weather, not too cold not too hot. Winter starts June, summer is in December. I also love their malls- Sandton, Brightwater, Clearwater, to name a few. I love to eat at Ocean Basket, hindi naman kamahalan but I enjoyed their shrimp and hake dishes. Actually mura ang food sa SA, steak dishes are not expensive. What will cost you a lot there is airtime-load ng mobile phone at internet. Mahal din ang taxi.

You have to be more cautious lang when in S.Africa. When inside a car, your valuables should not be visible from outside. Smash and grab is a common thing there.  They smash the window of your car to grab your bag. Would advise to place your bag behind your knees kahit pa driving ka. Hindi din safe mag drive late at night. Don't expect customers service at its best when it comes to shopping. In my experience, those black sales attendant (mostly) would  respond like "I don't know" or "find it there", no effort sa kanila. I should say mas nice at accommodating ang mga puti or the white s.africans, lalo na pag alam nila na foreigner. Super maa-appreciate mo ang customer service ng SM malls natin pag nag shop ka sa SA.

Would suggest na mag bed and breakfast na lang instead of a hotel para cheaper. I know a pinay who owns one in Joburg. Konti lang ang pinoy dun. Magsimba ka sa Catholic Church if you want to meet kababayans.

Can anyone share a 10-day itinerary for South Africa? Mukhang 10 days lang muna for my first trip here.
Planning to fly in and out of Cape Town via Singapore Airlines. Nasa $1,200 yung airfare.
OR, fly to Cape Town, fly to Johannesburg, then fly out of Johannesburg.

Ang goal ko is to see the penguins in the beach. Nasa Boulders Beach sila, which is part of the Table Mountain National Park.
