You lose more with exchanging currency twice. But of course you are dependent on the money changer if they allow a direct change from one foreign currency to another. As far as I know, Czarina and Sanrys are the biggest Foreign Currency Exchange companies in Metro Manila. Czarina's Main Office is at

Unit 1412 Tower One & Exchange Plaza
    Ayala Ave. Makati City 1226
    Phone: +63.2.811-1875; +63.2.811-1895; +63.2.811-1859
    Fax: +63.2.848-6508

You can contact Sanrys via their website.

^Baka mahirapan kang magpapalit ng yuan since it is not a popular currency. Try mo sa Czarina or Sanry's but you have to arrange/reserve ahead of time. Or you can always bring USD and change it to yuan pagdating mo ng Shanghai.

You can visit the China and Shanghai threads to get an idea on a suggested budget for your trip.

Saan okay mag-sell ng Rupiah? Hindi daw pwede sa Sanrys eh. Napalaki kasi yung pinapalit namin ng sister ko when we were in Indonesia and now we need to exchange them in Pesos. Thanks.

Upping this thread.

Mga sis, i need to exchange my peso to dollar soon either sa Sanry's or Czarina, i wonder kung meron sila tig $1, $2, $5, $20 I need barya kase sana lalo na pag commute hehe. I wonder if they have baryas or baka pinakamababa na denomination ay $50. May alam ba kayo? Nagmamadali kase kausap ko sa Czarina kahapon, before I can ask, binaba na nya yung phone.

CNY - we always bring USD and exchange it at the hotel. Not much difference if you change it at the bank, money exchange or hotel since the exchange rate there is heavily regulated. So hotel na kami for convenience.

HKD - Czarina if here in Manila. Or withdraw from the ATM if in HKG. I don't bother looking na for money changers that give preferable rates for PHP in HKG kasi minimal Lang naman ang difference. But if you're super penny pinching then look for changers at Chungking Mansion, Mongkok or Worldwide House in Central.

^You're welcome, sis! Happy trip!

@blackgreen, better if you can change PHP direct to JPY here. Meron naman JPY readily available sa mga money changers, tawag ka lang for reservations. But if you already have a USD account where you can readily withdraw, okay din yun na dalhin nyo sa Japan.

But if you're planning to change PHP to USD here then exchange the USD to JPY in Japan, you'll be losing a bit in the double conversion. I-straight mo na PHP to JPY para wala ka ng iisipin when you get to Japan.
