Saan ok magpapalit ng foreign currencies here in Manila?
Where can we get good rates?

I know of two in the Makati area, Sanry (Greenbelt) and Czarina (Glorietta 5). Safe locations and you can negotiate for better rates as compared to their published rate kung malaki yung amount na papalitan mo i.e. USD5000 up.

from my research the two you mentioned were the ones also recommended plus edzen money changer in manila. though malayo na yung manila area and not familiar with the area.

sis, how much usually ang difference if 5k up ang ipapalit mo. is it like mga 1peso or 50 cents? para may idea [textspeak!] po... thanks.

sa robinsons manila may good rate sila dun its just located behind the fountain

Czarina is ok, whether buying or selling ng foreign currency.

kakatawag ko lang sa czarina.. kelangan daw magpa-reserve for 3 days to exchange currencies.. do we really need to wait that long? hindi ba pede walk-in dun? i used to go to BPI forex to exchange money pero ngayon ang mahal ng BAHT nila.. luging lugi kami pag dun so i'm switching to czarina but i do not have 3 days to wait.

^really? which branch yan? kase when I bought dollars, i didnt even call them to ask kung may available sila. same thing din when i got back and had my dollars converted to pesos..

maybe there's a waiting period because you're buying another currency apart from dollars. yun kase, available na lage sa kanila.

baht daw kasi is not a popular currency kaya hindi sya readily available or bihira lang may stock..  after i was told to place reservation over the phone, pumunta pa din ako nagbabakasakali lang pero they told me the same thing..

^you need ba talaga na baht na sya kagad? pwede naman siguro na buy dollars muna tapos saka mo ipapalit pagdating mo don, if it makes it easier.

you think mas ok yun? di ba kami malulugi kasi lumalabas parang double conversion di ba.. anyway, lahat ng alam kong money changer pinuntahan ko kanina.. sanry lang me available baht pero sobrang mahal... 1.80.. whereas sa czarina 1.44, bpi 1.55, bdo 1.39..

^it's an option that you can look into. before doing that, siguro try to check how much din ang conversion ng dollars don tapos compute mo muna kung same lang din lalabas.

Confused! If mag out of the country ka mas mura or mas mahal ba if magpapalit ka ng peso sa currency ng country na pupuntahan mo? Ano ba mas mura? If dito ka na magpapalit or sa country na pupuntahan mo?

^ Sis based on my experience it's better to bring USD...kasi pansin ko lang halos lahat ng exchange for USD malaki ang palit sa host country...

Paano mga coins? Wala yata nagpapalit nun? Dami euros, pounds, lira (?) sayang mukhang d pa naman makakapunta dun

Stormy - sa alam ko wala nagtatangap ng coins.  what i do is if i fly out via Cathay Pacific i bring these coins, kasi sa Cathay, they ask for donation for coins to give to Unicef.  I make sure to bring all the various coins para di nakakalat sa bahay.  Or the other option naman is if i see balikbayan friends from the US, yun mga US coins ko, i give it to them para magamit nila.
