It's so challenging pala to come up with baon ideas and creative ways on how to present them. These are some of the things that work for me:

- Plan my preschooler's menu 2 weeks in advance to cut time on weekday mornings
- Cook/prepare most of the items on weekends (for example, I prepare the pancake batter and place it in a squeeze bottle and refrigerate; I bread the chicken fingers and store;)
- Do a taste test to check if she likes the food or not
- Alternate bread spreads and fruits (no same food on consecutive days)
- Decorate her food using cookie cutters

Here are some of the food items that I prepare for her:
- pancakes
- nutella/pb&j/cheese sandwiches
- homemade corn and carrots
- homemade fries
- homemade chicken fingers
- homemade mac and cheese
- rice with scrambled egg
- rice with adobo
- rice with chicken ala king
- seedless grapes, bananas, apples, mandarin oranges
- beef steak strips
- cupcakes and oatmeal cookies
- knick knacks

Sarap pala ng feeling when you see their lunchbox na naubos ang baon.

found this online, and they're cute! pero mukhang masyado kakain ng time for preparing and making it look good. parang mahirap gawin lalo kapag naghahabol ka ng oras sa morning.

it's bento baon for kids.

@mamaGie, interesting mag-Bento, ang nagiging prob ko dyan nahihirapan ako sa time management, since I'm a working mom. sa sobrang trapik na kinakaharap ko maghapon, pagdating ko ng bahay ang nagagawa ko na lang is to guide my daughter on her assignments, pagod na pagod na ako sa work at byahe, di ko na nakakayang i-prepare ang baon sa gabi palang. then sa umaga naman ganun din, kinakailangan ko umalis ng maaga sa bahay para unahan ang trapik.. i am so sad that I don't have time to do this, unless gigising ako ng as early as 4am to prepare the food, maybe in a week kaya yan ng once or twice a week, pero kung aaraw-arawin ko, malabo... :( :(

It's easier to do bento if you have tools. At the same time, you also have to plan the meals ahead of time and precook some of the food. For example, I prepare the pancake mix on the weekend and put it in a squeeze bottle so that I'd only have to cook and to cut it. I also precook the corn and carrots and pasta sauce on the weekend.

^naku sis, naging ka-adikan ko rin ang pagbili ng mga bento tools, nakatambak na lang sa bahay :-( although paminsan nakakagawa naman din ako, yun nga lang di ko talaga maka-career..  ??? ???

For my 8 yr. old baon

snacks- carrot or banana cupcake, pag nagsawa na store bought naman like lemon square, biscuits na gusto nya basta wag masyado sweet.

lunch- home made chicken nuggets (breast part chicken)
pork patties- with grated carrots, kalabas and potatoes
adobo- chicken/ pork
fried chicken
chicken/ pork tocino- sariling marinade ko
barbeque- pwede rin pork or chicken yun lang madaling tumigas- datu puti marinade lang tapos I add garlic lang stir-fry.

side dish- dapat lagi may corn :)

As much as possible I try to pack savory items for recess. Yesterday, it's home made mini burgers - I used ground beef, add a little onion powder, salt, pepper, and Spanish paprika (to give it a smoky, grilled flavor). Form into patties then fry in a little oil. I put these inside dinner rolls instead of the regular burgers. Then topped it with cheese slice. I packed two of these with buttered marble potatoes and corn and carrots plus pastillas (their current favorite). On other days, I pack the burgers together with French fries.

If you don't have time to prepare the burgers in the morning, you can cook them the night before. Init na lang sa toaster.

My 4 year old son will go to school na tomorrow. He?s gonna take summer class so pag nagstart na ang formal class, no more separation anxiety na (hopefully). 10am-12noon ang class niya. I don?t like biscuits. I prefer sandwiches. Yung gardenia has this cream roll sandwich, yung pahaba. He likes it. I also bought Marby?s cheese bites na bread, maliit lang siya and masarap din. Gusto ko din sana magpabaon ng fruits like kiwi and oranges. I?m not sure lang kung mag iiba ang  taste kung maaga ipi-peel..
