ONLINE STORES FOR BABY STUFF

hi mga sis.  i'm not sure if there is a thread on this so if there is kindly tell me.  I'm a mom to be and totally clueless on online shopping.  i've never tried it because i've heard not-so-good stories about other people's experiences and im scared to use my credit card.  i really need your advise since there are so many good deals online. i usually make pakiusap sa friends and relatives who live in the states to buy me stuff but i know it can be a burden too for them. please suggest mga sis:

what are the reliable sites you've used?

what US based websites can deliver straight to manila and not to a relative there?- is there one like that?

what not-so-good experiences have you had especially with credit cards?

^usually sis yung mga US based website they only deliver within US. kaya ganun pa rin you can have it shipped to your relatives.

why dont you try online shopping c/o ebay.ph and multiply. mga local sellers na yan and mas mura sila than malls.

loveinmybelly, aside from what tayntayn said that not all US online shops ship outside of the US, a lot of these online shops also do not accept non-US issued credit cards, unless siguro may paypal account ka.

but i've done a fair amount of online shopping din mostly from amazon but i had them shipped to my brother in new york and he'd send them here when there's an opportunity (may uuwing friend or relative or pag nakapuno siya ng box).

we've also tried buying from an online store using paypal and had the items shipped here directly via UPS. these are just small gauges for the car that my husband used for a competition so medyo madalian siya. we had to pay tax pero mura lang naman, less than P2,000. and sa UPS na din namin binayaran yung tax.

now since most do not deliver outside of the US, you can setup an account with pobox.ph. they will give you their US address that you can use as shipping address when you buy online. they will consolidate the items for you and when you fill up a box, they will ship the box to the philippines and deliver it to your house. i haven't personally tried this service but i am thinking of opening an account with them for some of the stuff i need to buy for baby.

kung konti lang naman and small items lang ang bibilhin, you may get the services of an online shopper. check myonlineshopper at multiply. she's a GTer too and i've asked her to buy things for me na a few times. if the site doesn't accept international cards, you can ask her to pay for the item for you as she has a US card but you have to pay a shopper fee of 3-5% yata.

basta when you browse, make sure you check if they accept inernational credit cards kasi sayang naman effort mo kung hindi naman pala.

and check din if the item will fit in the standard box sizes (like sa boxes ng pobox.ph for exmaple) kasi if not, ang mahal ng shipping. makakamura ka sa item pero matatalo ka sa shipping and you may end up paying the same amount kung dito mo na lang binili.

one thing i can add is...it's better to have your items shipped to family/friends in the US (if you can use your Phil. credit card) than have it shipped from the us online store to manila..talo ka na sa shipping costs.. talo ka pa din sa customs tax.. in short nakamura ka sa item pero pagdating dito minsan double the price kasi nagbayad ka ng customs tax.

i have great experiences  and a not so great experience in buying online on ebay.com
i have saved sellers there where i bought nuby bottles, baby toys ([textspeak!] iba new [textspeak!] iba 2nd hand), boppy pillows, cheap doon sa ebay..kelangan lang matyaga ka maghanap. kasi some people/mommies sell their sobrang baby stuff doon.. naka-indicate naman if new.. new without tag.. new without box..

i tried to buy a zagg cover for hubby's ipod touch  the year the itouch first came out.. anyway.. ok yung seller.. shipped it to my friend in CA actually kaso hubby was impatient na so i asked my friend to mail it na lang dito sa office..sad to say hanggang ngayon (almost mag 2 years na) di pa dumadating si zagg cover.

latest purchase ko (nung april lang) was a craft item for my sewing/quilting stuff, small lang sya.. mga $10 lang ata including shipping to manila. the seller sent it to manila..a month and a half later i received a note from paranaque post office.. pwede ko na kunin.. i prepared myself for the customs tax.. pero when i got there..P35 lang binayaran ko... nakakatuwa..siguro swertihan lang and depende din sa item mo

have any of you tried any of them?  i looked a their prices and yes, most are cheaper than in the malls but one of them almost exactly like the prices in the malls! kakaloka.  i thought all would be cheaper than the malls kasi the price wala pa yung courier. 

i'll try buying a smmall item first, parang test muna.

^ babyuno's prices for dr brown's stuff are way more than SM and rustan's prices. not sure lang kung updated yun gprices niya. tapos pre-order din so it may take a while before you get the items.

nag-email and text din ako dyan kay babyuno but i never got a reply so i scratched them off my list of possible sources. but i think others have had good experiences naman with them.

I agree that babyuno's prices are quite steep. matagal din syang sumagot. shoperoo has reasonable rates naman.

If you have relatives sa US, you can buy from babiesrus and amazon. Babierus usually offers free shipping for items more than $100 so ang iisipin mo na lang is yung shipping from US to Manila. The good thing about having it shipped to a relative there din is they can check the item for you if it has defects and what not. Mahirap kase if you'll only find out here na sa Manila na sira pala or something.

All of the multiply sites that you mentioned are my contacts din but i have another one whom I ordered my Dr. Brown's wideneck feeding bottle set. It costs less than any of the Dr. Brown's stuff from those sellers. I made a list of price comparison din among those sites and will compare it din sa Rustan's and SM later. Baka minimal or no difference at all tapos maghihintay pa ko ehdi sayang lang my time diba.

Nice sana to get big items from the states, particularly the US sites I mentioned. Kase their strollers, car seats, and playpens are way cheaper compared here. Ewan ko ba bakit ganon kataas ang mark up dito sa Pinas. However, if shipping is gonna be the problem and ang mase-save mo lang is 2-3k, dito ka na lang bumili. At least you'd get to see the item firsthand and you can test it for defects muna. Another thing is you can take advantage of zero interest schemes here if you use your credit card

twelvth_goddess, could you pm me please your other contact sa multiply that has cheaper dr brown's stuff. weird kasi sa rustan's yung NB feeding set 2199 lang, sa baby & company 2399. 2600+ kay babyuno! sana cheaper yung sayo than rustan's.

babiesrus doesn't accept international cards so ngayon most of the items i want to get are from amazon except for a few items na may ibang sites that do accept international cards (like yung ni-recommend ni liyapot na gognatural for cloth diapers).

pero yon nga, for the bigger items, kung konti na lang difference in price compared to here because of shipping, dito na lang talaga.

pero yung mga electric breast pumps na available sa mga multiply and ebay, 110V ba yung mga yon? eh kung sa mall bibilhin (like avent or medela), 110V din ba o 220V na?

aside from amazon okay sa nickisdiapers.com cheaper some of their items compared to amazon. they accept international credit cards I used my HSBC yun nga lang shipping is within US, had mine shipped sa US address ng friend ko then I will just pay for shipping charges US-MLA.

Clueless I sent you a pm na Cheaper talaga don sa nakuhanan ko. I got the Dr. Brown's wideneck bottle set for 1600 something lang kase sa amazon ko sya pina-order. We went yesterday sa SM and I saw the Dr. Brown's bottles there and super expensive nga. And you're right, 2300++ sa kanila yung kagaya nung inorder ko. We didnt have time na to go to Rustan's so we'll go there next week.

Sa SM wala pala silang Gerber and Carter's. Im not sure kung sa Rustan's meron. San kaya meron nito? I wanna compare kase the prices if aligned lang yung sa mall and online. Kung malaki difference, I'll order na lang. Hinde pa kase sure yung US trip ko this July so might as well check na din kung ano mabibili ko dito and mao-order ko sa US just in case hinde ako matuloy.

There's a scan photocopy of the procedure below it, and you won't have to pay for custom tax it's included na sa payment nyo sa Johnny Air. I think after you order in Amazon have it delivered c/o to one of Johnny Air Cargo's office, and they will delivered it to you. I hope that helps.

Clueless, online purchase lang ba yung hinde tumatanggap ang babiesrus ng international credit cards? If I go to a store and use my card, ok lang ba yon?
