Share ko lang dun sa first born ko, it was March 18, 2005. I had normal delivery to my son around 9:30 pm. My labor started 12 am in the morning, so almost 21 hours din ako in pain. I didn’t have any anesthesia or epidural at all during the labor. My reason was, it will “slow down” the labor pati na yung movement ni baby. This is according to my brother who works as a pediatrician doctor. According to him, Epidural will help you ease the pain but it will prolong your agony much worst hindi mo pa mararamdaman ang tamang timing when to push your baby. Tumatagal lalo ang labor which sometimes could end up in CS.. eh gusto ko NSD ako. So during the time halos I was dying in labor pains, he really insisted that no medication will be given to me ( kahit nirerequest ko ng turukan na ako!). As matter of fact, he told me to expect worsts labor pains than I could ever imagine. The more painful it is, that means its closer to delivery. True enough! I was writing down the intervals of each contractions, pasakit siya ng pasakit hanggang sa maloka loka nako sa bawat contractions. hehe. Ang ginawa ko nalang is to keep myself calm. Really calm and practice breathing kahit namimilipit nako sa sakit. Hindi ako sumisigaw or umiiyak kasi naisip ko nun baka mapagod lang ako, and I will need the energy to survive it. when I went to hospital, I was fully dilated na ( I stayed home during the labor) and after 15 minutes tapos ang laban! :)of course, tinurukan nako ng local anesthesia after I gave birth kasi I didn’t feel anything nung tinahi nako at nakatulog narin ako pagkatapos. The following day, nakaligo nako mag-isa at naglakad-lakad na without alalay.

I’m pregnant now with my 2nd baby and I guess I will do the same--No epidural or anesthesia during labor. Since I now how it painful it will be, I will just keep myself ready and study on more proper breathing technique. I can'’t imagine tuturukan ako ng needle sa spine ko. I will do the CS if its really needed but if kaya ang NSD then I will choose it that way. I will keep the advise of my brother that if I will have anesthesia during the labor, expect ko daw na lalong magtatagal ang pasakit ko.  Oh well,  kahit nga CS eh, they will experience extreme pain once wala ng anesthesia nila.

besides, masakit talaga manganak! There’s no easy way.

Kaya satin mga mothers to be, relax lang. Read as much as you can regarding labor. What scenarios to expect and how to response to that if it happens. We get to panic and give up. So better be informed. kahit low tolerance natin sa pain, kaya natin yan. So Good luck and God Bless mga sis! 

^I agree because with my first baby nagpa epidural din ako I can still feel the pressure and I can still push my ob instructs me when to push and ayun ok naman mabilis dapat nailabas si baby kaso na cord coil so dun natagalan konti mga 30 mins of pushing tapos the next day we went home na.

Hi mga sis!

My due date is on March 6. Pero since CS ako we're planning to make it on February 18. 4 weeks pa from now, pero madalas na mag contract tummy ko and masakit parang feeling ko nag lalabor ako.

Am anticipating true labor symptoms...1st time mom, so don't know what to expect also..been reading this thread as my guide...so far, contractions pa lang nararamdaman ko..panay check din undies kung meron discharge...

Akala ko nga kanina madaling araw ay true labor symptom na yun contractions pero nasa 10 mins interval naman at eventually nawala din..then the whole day me contractions pero far and between ang interval..
Meron ibang nag-share dito na in-labor na pala sila no pain, no contractions pero mauubos na pala amniotic fluid..yun ang fear ko...

Let's us pray hard for our safe delivery!

Wow nakakabilib naman..no epidural/anaesthesia during labor...it really helps if you do mind-conditioning and prepare for the worst..

Sis, tinuruan ako ng isang nurse ng isang breathing technique to relieve contractions..3X to breath slowly then on the 4th parang uubo ka daw....ginawa mo din ba yun? or iba ang breathing techniques during labor/delivery?...am 39 + 1 today and 1st time mom kaya don't know what to expect.

thanks Sis

EDD: January 11, 2014
Delivery Date: January 7, 2014

January 6: I could already feel strong (braxton hicks?) contractions.  I even told hubby, "I think i will give birth soon"

Jan 7: at 1:30 am, I noticed blood when I peed so I told hubby to call the hospital.  I took a shower and got dressed to go to the hospital.

at 2am on the way to the car I felt a lot of water come out of me.

2:15 I was admitted in the hospital, the doctor and nurses were checking if my water did break and I had an echo to check all is well.  after confirming that what came out has amniotic fluid, the doctor decided to transfer me to the birthing room to observe if i will go into labor quickly.  They told me to rest.  I can feel some contractions but they were no very painful.

6:30 am - the doctor checked me again and she said that i was 4 cm dilated.  I started asking for epidural but the doctor said they will be changing doctors now and the day time doctor will discuss the pain relief options with me.

7:30 am - the day time doctor checked me and I was still 4cm dilated.  I was feeling more intense contractions now.  they decided to give me meds to make my contractions stronger.  at this point they told me it is better to have morphin instead of epidural,  i was already in a lot of pain so I agreed only to find out that like my first delivery, morphin didn't work.

my labor progressed quite quickly (and very painfully), at around 10am I could already feel pushing contractions and my baby was born at 10:29 am.  kala ko tapos na ang sakit, nung tinatahi ako (apparently I needed 3 stitches jasi nagrapture) ramdam ko yung sakit wala pa ring anesthesia, which is weird kasi dun sa first ko feeling ko may local anesthesia kasi di ko naramdaman yung pain ng pagtahi.

as painful as it was, all the pain is worth it after you hold your baby in your arms.

Sis kasheica

With my first born I've tried to study Lamaze breathing technique. pero natatandaan ko din na tuwing may bowel movement ako (excuse me sa mga kumakain!) I would also imagine on how i'm going to push my ebs the way that I will push my child.  ;D

Kapag may nagtatanong sakin family or friends regarding "no epidural during labor", I always say its your choice. pero para sakin dito sa second pregnancy ko ngayon, I will still do the same. Based on my experience, pwede naman kasing hindi first option ang epidural or no option for that at all. I think some hospitals will based their maternity packages with or without epidural and some women choose to be medicated right away.  I always tell my close friends-- wag etong gawin first choice. Aside from that, it will have its own complications and in most cases, it will lengthen the labor process.

Kapag nagpaprogress ang labor mo and possibly candidate ka talaga for NSD magiging super masakit talaga ang last few hours of your labor.

Im Not expert here, I just based everything in my experience with my first child. However, I always tell my family or friends na read talaga as much as you can regarding pregnancy, labor pains and birth delivery. it's better be informed on what you're getting into. of course, you have to trust your OB as well. kaya sinabi ko din dati na if the doctor will advised me on the last minute that I will be in CS because its really that important, then I will give my full trust on her. kaya nakahanda rin ang isipan ko dun.

Don't panic once you feel the first signs of contractions, again its perfectly normal. hindi naman at that moment you feel it eh andiyan na manganganak ka na.  ;D  as much as you can, try to time the intervals. it will help you know kung nagpoprogress ba ang labor mo. Also, try to Relax. Though I think I might get violent reactions na how can you relax when you're in terrible pain? however, if you panic it will not help you neither. that's where you make hasty decisions.

Also on the delivery day, believe in yourself na kaya mo.. lahat ng tao sa paligid mo (doctors, nurses, husband and families) will be there to support you but they will not feel the pain as much you do. so trust yourself that you will get it through.

Sorry napahaba po ang post ko. Good luck sayo sis! Pray also before you go to the hospital. It will help you calm down. Share your story to us once you have your delivery. God Bless.  :)

Inggit ako sa mga NSD mommies. I ended up having an E-CS. :(

Hanggang 4cm lang kasi ako after being induced and   after 16 hrs of labor.

Hi mga mommies! Newbie here but have been reading eversince 1st trim ko. finally nakapag-register na rin. nakakatuwa magbasa ng mga labor stories, this actually helped me. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy last Dec 3 and although 2nd baby ko, para pa din akong 1st time mom (7 years gap nila ng ate niya).

here's my labor story:

I went back to the restroom to wash again and change undies, paglabas ko, nakabihis na si hubby at  bitbit na yung bag. sabi ko maliligo muna ako.

dumating un cousin ko na may tricycle at minamadali na ko, sabi ko magkikilay lang ako (para pag nagpicture-an okay naman itsura ko, hehe) natatawa na lang akko sa kanila [textspeak!] mas natataranta pa sila kesa sakin. that time, no contractions pa ko.

10 am: 2 cm pa lang daw and yellowish na un amniotic fluid ko so possible na nagpoop na daw si baby. OB gave me til 6pm and kailangan atleast 5cm daw or else CS na. kinabitan ako ng suwero at ininduce na yung labor.

1:20: ipinasok ako sa OR, pinrep for epidural then wait umepek.

Curious lang ako if saan part tutusukin kapag epidural?

I gave birth nung January 31 around 12 noon at 37 weeks and 1 day to a healthy baby boy.

My labor started at 5:30am pumutok na bag of water ko which I wasn't sure nga kung BoW kasi trickle lang na feel ko I decided to pee para sure mejo hazy na yung color ng pee so I knew iba na yun so naligo ako at around 6am nasa hospital na kami 7am nag ie si ob 1cm and closed cervix pa pero malambot na daw and mataas pa si baby I was admitted at around 9am I was 5cm dilated na napapakapit nako sa sakit hindi keri ng powers ko talaga. At around 10:30am dumating si anesthesiologist dinala ako sa delivery room and nilagyan ng epidural mejo mahirap lang pag lagay kasi need mag curl so naiipit ng konti yung tummy pero tolerable naman compared sa pain ng contractions and after mailagay maginhawa na talaga yung feeling after 30mins 9cm dilated na so my ob checked again at 12pm ayun 10cm na pinag push na ako after 6 sets of pushing baby out na.

This is my second baby kaya ata mas mabilis progress ng labor and this is also the second time I opted to use an epidural.

Mga sis i have to share this and ask you nadin. Kahapon kasi hubby and i "make love". Im on my 35th week. Going 36 weeks na tomorrow. Huling "make love" namin ni hubby is nung 7 mos preggy ako then yung kanina. Nung hapon naglakad lakad kami.

^ Just see your OB sis, she will do a physical exam and reassure you if baby is doing ok. If not, she might request to do an UTZ. You should be seeing her at least every 2 weeks by now, then every week by 37th week.  If you are 35 weeks by now, baby is still 2 weeks away from being term or fully mature, so it's good na wala ka pa nararamdaman na signs of labor.
