I have 3 kids mga sis, with my 1st I was sedated kaya di ko naramdaman, with my 2 I made sure epidural ako so I would be awake when baby comes out. So ayun I was able to deliver them via NSD, and share ko Lang mga Sis, praying the joyful mystery helps, when I reached the 3rd joyful mystery miracles happen. It happened to me 2x already.. :-)

^ i opted for no-epidural pero ang alam ko kapag may epidural ka, iko-coach ka na lang nila when to push. kasi wala ka na mararamdaman. painless talaga - pero depende pa rin yun sa galing ng anesthesiologist mo.

ganun ba sis, plan ko rin is non-epidural.

plan also to be mobile during active labor, doing different labor positions I learned para mamanage yung pain.

I also opted for a non-epi procedure.. natatakot ako magpa inject sa spine.. meron ba after effect yun? sabi nila kikirot pa din daw afterwards.

^no after effect for me naman ang epi..I dont know lang with others here but I notice may after effect din kay baby, as in for 12 hours puro sleep lang siya, I tried to breastfeed that time and got worried kasi di pa din ako tinatawag ng mga nurse to indicate that his hungry or what kaya ako na mismo pumunta sa nursery, and yun nga di din naglatch si baby, I dont know kung effect din yun sa kanya. Long term effect sa akin, mas naging forgetful ako this time. :(

Mga Sis with epidural, there is no more urge to push. But you could still feel the pain because I'm also fighting the urge to ask for more anesthesia as this could disrupt/ interfere with the progress of labor. They coach me to push. I don't think I could go through with it without epidural.
As for latching, nag latch agad si baby after malinisan sya pagkalabas Nya while I was in the Lamaze room, and ibinalik pa while I was in the recovery room, nakapag breast feed pa ulit ako ng 45 minutes.

I've had an epidural before (I think it was even a spinal anes, which is worse), but not for giving birth.  It was for an operation.  No swelling or pain after, the only after-effect I noticed was that I became forgetful :D  But then again, I was under a lot of stress those days, recovering from 2 operations involving 3 hospital stays and a broken heart, so I don't know if the forgetfulness was because of the epi or just the overall stress and deterioration of my health during those months.

@sis tigerlily

sis diniscuss mo ba yung birthplan mo with your OB?

side effect talaga ng epidural or any other drug na maging drowsy both the mother and baby. sometimes this can hinder the unang yakap. kaya nga yung iba are opting for a non-medicated birth. and i guess you can only be successful on doing that if you do a homebirth. i have friends na na-cs and ang side effect talaga ng epidural is sumasakit ang likod lalo na pag malamig - but maybe it depends on your anesthesiologist. another side effect is pagiging malilimutin daw. e i have terrible momnesia na nga e. baka malimutan ko na name ko kapag nagpa-epidural pa ko.

^ i heard cardinal santos really follows the DOH campaign e. pero not 100% sure ha.

ayun nga ang mahirap sa hospital birth kasi you have no control - kahit may birth plan ka pa. ang maganda lang kasi sa birthplan e malinaw kung ano ang gusto mo and they have something to answer to - kung pinirmahan nila yun. pero hindi pa rin set in stone yun. yun ang advantage naman ng homebirth - ikaw ang magkocontrol. but then still be ready to go if an emergency happens.

i hear the same things about Epi. Either magiging makakalimutin ka or sasakit likod mo pag malamig. Has anyone tried to ask their OB kung bakit may ganitong side effect?

meron ba sainyo nagwater birth?  mas okay daw yun, parang epidural effect (less pain) pero all natural.   :-*

Diretso ako agad sa Labor room, @458pm lumabas na si baby. i'm on my 34th weeks that time, as of now dito na ako sa bahay, but my baby still in the hospital, according to the findings okay naman daw sya, physical feature is 37th weeks and he weighs 5.6lbs, problem is hindi pa fully developed lungs nya since 8months nga lang sya, kaya need pa nya ng oxygen support and some antibiotic. last monday pina 2d-echo sya kasi di nagbabago ang breathing nya, they found out na may butas ang puso nya :( sabi makukuha pa daw sa gamot, we are praying and hoping na kayanin nga. I'm praying for his fast recovery, sana po tulungan nyo din ako pray for my baby. Pasensya na kung medyo OT po, hingi lang po talaga ako tulong na prayer for my baby.

tia!
