Any tips mommies sa listening skill enhancement?
Very important kasi listening sa learning. Baka may exercises kayo na maisheshare
Hi Sis, my son had auditory processing glitch (it isn't being deaf, just picky on sounds that he hears) so sobrang puro listening skills ginagawa namin kasi that hindered him from reading. He's a late reader but his comprehension skills when read at is really good since I have been reading to him since he was an infant.
At 5,he couldn't identify sounds on words, rhymes, or even chopping letter sounds on a word or phrase.
So, I focused in that area and happy ako that he's reading now. Eto mga ginagawa ko to train his ears. Just do this when you are both relaxed and not in a hurry. It should be done in a quiet room.
Chop words that you hear.
For 4-5 year olds (check readiness in reading as well).
Ask him to say the word/sounds that he hears when you say ex. "Remove Toooth in ToothBrush"
1) Remove Brush in ToothBrush
2) Remove Belt in Beltbag
3) Remove Couch in couchpotato
4) Remove Nail in Fingernail
5) Remove Trash in Trashcan
6) Remove /pur/ in Purple
7) Remove /ma/ in mama

Remove /ket/ in basket
9) Remove /le/ in Lego
10) Remove /ting/ in Painting
11) Remove /C/ in Cat
12) Remove /D/ in Dog
13) Remove /P/ in Pig
14) Remove /Bl/ in Blue
15) Remove /ank/ in Blank
16) Remove /D/ in Bird
Activity #2: Karate Clap syllables game. (Early readers game)
When mom says "karate clap the word Father!" Then your child will clap 2x. Add more karate movement action para medyo fun naman.

This enhanced my kid in spelling since he has learned how to cut words in syllables and spell them per phonemes.
Activity #3: Mahaba, but here's the instruction on my blog.
http://mamamiakiddos.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-made-things-easier-for-my-6-year.htmlAs a last note, I honestly feel too much TV was the reason he had this slight glitch because he was exposed to TV very early (around 5 hours/day!). It's sad pero I was a newbie, full-time working mom and kahit Educational shows pa yun, yung attention span niya in hearing was spoonfed so his thinking skills to hear was not that trained but just to absorb sounds.
