For seniors, I heard pwede daw sa FortuneCare and BlueCross, any feedbacks? I haven't research it yet e.

aaaargh, so sad. i just researched both. yung Senior Citizen Program pala sa Fortune Care ay para lang sa loyal members (10 yrs continuous member), please see below:

"SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM is a special program for all Fortune CARE loyal Clients (ages 65 to 79 years old). A program designed and offered to all existing clients with at least ten (10) years continuous membership with Fortune CARE."

so kung 55yo ang parents nyo, i suggest ikuha niyo na sa Fortune Care para mag-qualify sa Senior Citizen Program. eh 62yo na ang dad ko and 60 si mom so wala na akong choice kundi Blue Cross. eh ang mahal yata nun!!!! waaaahhhh!!!

sa mga sis, na kinuha ang parents nila sa Blue Cross, pa-share naman ng age nila at how much ang monthly/quarterly/annual premium? also if na-avail niyo na, ok ba ang service and coverage? hindi naman mahirap magpa-approve ng consultations, lab tests, operations, etc? please please, sana may makasagot... :)

What are your options to minimize health costs when senior members of the family cannot be covered by health cards anymore?

^thanks for all those suggestions.

I'm thinking more of the financial side na. Like nagkaroon na talaga ng emergency and needs confinement, what plan, except hmo, could help for the necessary payments like doctor's fee, hospital accomodations, medicines, etc. I'm also thinking how much, like it dialysis or chemotherapy is needed which is several treatments, or like if ICU confinement which is expensive per day. I think it is more of hospital income, but that only works while confined but not out-patient services.
As for life insurance, you can use that money only when the patient dies.

^ hi sis, ako din iniisip ko din to for my mom who is only 55 pa naman. My plan is to someday soon put together an emergency fund (siguro pile on it til 1M siguro). Since wala naman health issues pa, maybe I have time and consider putting it in a low risk investnent for the meantime. Hope na maipon to before kailanganin or di na kailanganin at all.

Also, kahit walang card, allocate a budget for their annual checkup to catch any issues early on, di yung mabibigla.

wala akong alam sa ganito, I hope someone can shed some light :)

1. I'm in my early 20's. I tried to my compute for a quotation (Maxicare), and mababa yung amount in fairness. After a year, kung di ko naman nagamit, masasabi bang sayang lang yung binayad ko? O pwede syang icarry over sa next years (like magaccumulate), or kung kelan man ako magrenew?

2. Every year, magiincrease ba yung amount na babayaran ko?

3. Medicard ang HMO sa company namin. Okay ba to? Or mas okay ang Maxicare in terms of coverage?

4. How does this work? You pay the HMO, then they pay your hospital bills. Parang they keep your money lang? Kung magkano binayad mo, ganun din makukuha mo?

Sorry sa questions, ang dami and baka stupid na pakinggan :p I really am clueless :)) Parang I want to get one for my mom instead na for me, kaso ang mahaaaal pala talaga pag may edad na :o

HMO is coverage e, parang insurance, it's there in case you need it, use it, pag hinde e, parang tapon lang din ang money. Enough na yung paid yung HMO mo ng company as benefit kasi corporate account yun so it's cheaper for them.

HMO and other insurances are cheaper while you are young and healthy, more expenive when you are older, with health conditions already, developed vices, and risky work/behavior. You still need insurances specially if ikaw ang bread winner, para may manahin ang mga maiiwan mo. I know you are still young but that is good, you plan early, before ka pa masanay sa lifestyle na pataas lang ng pataas habang nag-increase ang salaries. :)

Marami pong klaseng insurance e.
Life insurance pag namatay ka lang whether natural old age, accident, or sickness
Accident insurance pag aksidente lang, pwedeng patay or buhay
Health, Medical, Hospital  insurance depende kung ano lang yung sasagutin nila.
Pwedeng hospital lang covered if confined, depende pa if due to accident, operation, terminal, new sickness or precondition na.
Pwedeng sagot lang ay doctors operation fees, or just consultatioon fees pag out patient ka lang
Pwedeng sagot lang ay diagnostic lab tests like blood tests, sugar, fat, xray, ultrasound.
Or medical treatments  lang like chemotherapy,  kidney dialysis, physical therapy, etc
Yung  iba sagot  ang medicines for reimbursements lang.
If sakitin ka, get an hmo, it's to prevent na matuloy ang sakit mo.
if me sakit ka na forever, get a hospital insurance for confinement or treatment kaso madalas di na covered preconditions and old age.
If accident-prone ka,or me threat sa buhay mo na pwede palabasin.as accident get an accident imsurance, covered yun kahit mapilay lang ang finger mo.
And last get a life insurance for your dependents mana.
I hope that helps.

^ahhh ok. i am.planning to get my parents life insurance with riders like hospital/medical and or accident insurance. kasi kung kukuha na ko noon, sayang naman ata kung mag invest pa ako sa health card lang?or am.i missing something?

Let me give you an example.

First off, I have a Manulife policy with accident benefit.

But I got one with accidental death and disability, no
medical related benefit. I would only get something if
I lost my hand.

The medical benefit btw states that I would get 5,000
for every week I am confined to a hospital due to an accident.

Let's say I did get one with the medical related benefit.

Last week, I had an accident which required my hand to be
stitched up and I was in the hospital for 3 days.

The bill totalled over 70k(!!! wtf right?)

Now if I had relied on my insurance. I would have to shell out
65k. Not to mention I have to find 70k while processing my
insurance claim.

But I have our company HMO, so I didn't have to pay
anything. Just signed some forms or my wife did and I was
discharged. They were even the ones who processed the
bill and went to accounting, billing, etc. I dunno if the guy
assigned to my case was just nice or if they really were
required to process our bill.

Hope that shows you the use of an HMO.

Friends, ano pong hmo ang may unlimited consultations & laboratory & diagnostic tests for senior citizens.

Ganito din ba for other HMOs?

Baka meron dito affiliated with Medicard, I'm looking into availing an HMO coverage.

HMO is very helpful for urgent hospitalizations.

I am paying 850 per cut off for my Dad's HMO (15300 per year). Bale 3 ang dependent ko (my mom, my son and now my dad) 2 ang libre ng company kaya yong sa Dad ko lang binabayaran ko. Corporate account pala to kaya mura lang. I remember the cashier saying "kinabahan ka mam noh!".
