yung sa father(+) ko, valucare, because of my brother's company. tried nad tested namin sha, kasi for 2 years na nagsstruggle sa lung cancer ang father ko and in and out kami sa lung center, wala kami naging problem even sa reimbursements. 6 chemo sessions per year ang covered nya. anlaki ng natipid namin kasi magkano per session ng chemo theraphy nya - almost 50k ang isa.

now gusto ko kumuha for my family (my hubbby and 2 year old son). either valucare or maxicare na ok din since my in laws- nka maxicare sila at mukang ok din naman..

kami naman, bad experience with caritas.  My dad got a health insurance from them.  Less than1 yr pa lang, he got sick and was confined in Cardinal.  Caritas said that they will not cover the expenses since pre-existing condition and less than 1 yr pa lang inforce yung policy.  ok lang, no complaints kami since ganun naman talaga.  kaso while in Cardinal, may Caritas doctor na pumunta sa dad ko to check on him.  tanong tanong lang how he's feeling, and then gone in a few minutes.  tapos, nung discharge na dad, naniningil ng professional fee yung Caritas doctor...

Mga sis, does anyone know kung ano yung maximum coverage/benefit limit ng Medicard Plan 550 kapag individual account? Per year ba or per illness? And yung maximum room rate?

May tanong din pala ako about Medicard. If I pay for a year and then suddenly develop a dreaded disease or some other long-term disease, i-a-allow pa rin ba nila ako magapply uli for coverage next year and the years after that?

Dati maxicare cardholder ako, now valuecare na.

50% off ang membership rates eh..

parang halos parehas sila ng valuecare ng inclusions eh..

I just stumbled across this thread...My hubby is in the insurance industry so I have some inside views about healthcare....

It really depends on what you need and where you are located. But, right  now, my hubby bought me international healthcare with pregnancy coverage  up to 6k USD.

My dad naman has reimbursement insurance coverage from 3k to 25k USD. we got him this kasi may healthcard pa siya sa office. We just want him covered for things  over the limit of his  healthcard.

My dad only paid 500 USD for a big coverage. And  this  also covers all types of diseases and it includes hospitalization, treatment and consultation abroad. I remember one of my hubby's clients were in  Italy and naaksidente, the international health care provider even sent a translator to the hospital.

sis....go to the Medicard office of the place where you are (sometimes  they have a physical office, sometimes may coordinatorlang). Give your card, tell them what doctor you want to see. They will give you an LOA and then you proceed to the doctor. There are diseases that are permanently excluded.

It depends pakunganong coverage ng medicard mo. If yoou are new, ang alam ko you have to wait 2 years beforee pre existing conditions are covered. Also, not all Mall-based clinics are accredited. It will state in your card if you can consult in mall clinics likes clinica manila, my health, etc.

^Thanks sugarpop, that helps a lot. I see that you still have to get an LOA with Medicard. My other choice was Caritas and the one thing that turned me off about it was the LOA part. Now that I know it's the same procedure for both HMOs, I guess I'll just go with the one with an office closer to where I am.

By the way, what do you girls think is the better coverage when getting health insurance: a maximum ceiling limit for the entire year (say 500,000 for the entire year) or a limit per illness per year (say 50,000 per illness)?

I'm not sure what to pick between these two. I'd like the per illness option but the fine print reads that those illnesses would only be considered as individual cases if they weren't complications of one other.

my hubby says go for 500k. In his experience, mas sulit. the 50k per DD (dreaded disease) is nothing and can easily be consumed. Carry over pa yan ha. For example, you got hospitalized for a tummy problem this month, then you spent 35k sa hospital all in all, the next month nag-repeat yung sakit, 15k na lang ang pwede mong i-charge sa healthcard. Anything after that, you will have to pay for  out of your own pocket.

where is your office sis? Maxicare is nice din. So is intellicare. It depends what you plan to use it for. Cocolie is nice pero they don't have individual plans.

If you want, I can get someone from our office to get in touch with you so that they can fully explain what is the advantages and disadvantages of each healthcare provider. We know our stuff kasi. This is what we do for a living.

there is also a Hospital Income Benefit and Critical Illness Benefit that you can attached with life insurances. Sa Hospital Income Benefit, when you are hospitalized for three days until 1000 days you will receive an income depending on the plan you chose. sa Critical Illness Benefit naman, once you are diagnose with a critical illness the company will give you half of the value of your insurance.example, if you get 1M life insurance you are entitled for a 500K benefit for that.
