^hi sis. i am a licensed RE broker na din and RE appraiser. just passed the two exams this year. yan ang back up plan ko so far di pa ako masyado nag-practice. mag-take ka ng exam. it will give you more confidence to quit from work knowing na may professional license ka na pwede mo ring maging career.. goodluck sa mga moms dito!

^ mukhang magandang idea to, sis...

1) the licenses don't expire ba?
2) how do you get started? san may review materials?
3) who administers these exams?

nakaka-engganyo :)

I used to work in BPO worked my way up got pregnant (1st child) still working, my first born grew up mostly sa mom ko and sa yaya but my mom would usually hand in my daughter to me when i arrive home kahit puyat or pagod na ako sabi niya para sakin pa din daw yung anak ko mas close.

when my kid turned 1 and my working schedule medyo lumuwag luwag i enrolled to personality development, makeup school. i became an image consultation/ coach and makeup artist as part-time.

after another year i got pregnant with my 2nd (boy) i had difficulty with my pregnancy with him so i asked for a temporary leave from the office until i gave birth, but i am also so bored just staying at home, so i enrolled to fashion illustration class then i still do makeup along side, then hold makeup workshops from time to time.

after i gave birth to him, i had further studies to makeup (such as high definition, prosthetics and special effects abroad) then fashion designing as well.
The pay off is ok though im missing corporate work (as for me it sharpens one's mind) though i dont want to leave my other work (makeup and designing) as for it hones creativity. so my husband gave me the go signal if i wanted to not go back to corporate work, so i resigned. and i worked full time as a makeup artist and stylist.

after a year of working full time (my kids are 3 and the other one is 1 yr old) since i miss corporate i returned to corporate job in another company that allows me to keep my other job / schedule (note some companies will not allow you to have 2nd job / work)

there you go, slow and steady only, to keep me sane i returned to my corporate task, to have an outlet from my stressful job i am looking forward to restdays and free time coz i do shoots and wedding and events.

I dont want to go insane na sa house lang plus i dont want to hear any comment that i am "palamunin" or asa plus when i want something for myself and for my kids, i have some spare in my wallet and not wait for big daddy-oh to give us money or not. ayoko ko yun. not really a fan of asking money and if worst things happen i have spare to start our life (my kids) all over.

:-)

I admire women who squeezes in their career around their family and not the other way around (like leaving their family on their second priority). I still personally believe that a woman's ultimate career and greatest fulfillment is seeing her husband and children well nurtured emotionally, spiritually and physically.

What does a woman gain if she has the world in her hands but her marriage is crumbling or her children don't have what it takes to succeed in life.

@jo1

sis there's a real estate board exam on march 18, 2012. Two of the requirements are 60 hours review on any review center and 60 hours OJT.

As for your questions

1. As far as I know nirerenew yun sis.

^to add sis dun sa number one, yes the licenses do expire (3 years) just like other PRC licenses..

my dilemma naman now is that my 2 yr old bunso is becoming so attached to me since hands on mom ako.. everywhere I go, naka-buntot sya.. but then, mas gusto ko na rin yun kesa naman na sa yaya lumaki ang mga babies ko..

minsan nahihirapan na rin ako sa everyday business and full time mommy job ko, mas nakakastress compared sa corporate job ko noon. then i would ask my daughter if she wants me to go back to work na lang.. and she would say no... she wants me to be there with them everyday daw, from morning until evening and as they grow... sarap ng feeling.. okay na rin ang sacrifices ko... all for my kids and hubby..

same here... it's a tough choice to make esp in this economy....that said, i firmly believe that with determination and resourcefulness, it can be done...

thank you for the info, sis  :)... so okay lang be to come in cold? as in zero experience in and prior knowledge of real estate? or even sales? haaay, nai-insecure tuloy ako...

ganyan din ako minsan, sis... since i quit my ridiculously stressful work a few months ago, ngayon ko lang talaga naalagaan araw-araw ang anak ko... and i too often worry that he seems too attached minsan (he's 4) at parang na-baby ko yata masyado... but then, i remind myself that we won't have this kind of closeness forever, esp. when he grows older and makes more friends/barkada... so i just try to relax and cherish these times while i have them...

I chose my baby over career. That time super depressed ako, knowing I needed to give up my work. Pero there was no other choice, wala kasing mag-aalaga sa baby ko. Hiring a yaya is a no-no for me kasi wala din elders (MIL or my mom) dito sa house para bantayan sila pareho.

Being a SAHM, masaya na mahirap...

Right now, kahit papano balik tutor ako so kahit papano may additional income, and at the same time nababantayan ko pa din baby ko :)

i'm a sahm/wahm, it's my choice.  i love that i'm with my baby everyday.  since birth, ako nag-aalaga sa kanya.  i don't like na may mag-alaga sa kanyang iba kahit relatives pa namin.  based from my experience, lagi akong kinukurot noong bata pa ako ng yayas and relative namin kapag hindi pa ako natutulog.  ayokong mangyari yun kay baby.

Baka sa last week of January ako magstart.

I'm happy naman as a working mom/ career woman, In fairness, nacarry ko naman na good mom ako & loving wifey, and at the same time ay good rin sa work. Although sometimes nakakpagaod.

I just resigned from my corporate job, full time SAHM/WAHM na ako..what i love most is that i get to spend time with my first baby and at the same time enjoying higher salary..tipid din ako sa clothes, shoes, fares, dine-outs kasi sa bahay lang..and i can sleep late and wake up late, hawak ko schedule ko..

Ang downside lang, medyo stagnant lang pag sa bahay..ako pa naman yung tipong yearning to learn new things, and I love multitasking and challenging jobs..iba pa rin yung may nakakasalamuha kang ibang tao and you learn from them..

As of now, I prefer staying at home, but someday I know, I'll be back in the corporate world  ;)

Times have changed.

Yes, they do all the chores kahit walang katulong. Men work.

They just need to raise kids and keep the house, ganun. Pero I know nakakabaliw din ito kung ganito araw-araw.

Maybe because a lot of these moms din noon made sure that their daughters have finished at least a bachelor's degree.

Ngayon sa generation natin, those housewives (with no work at home job) seemed to be frowned upon. Siguro dahil sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, many couples chose to work na lang and hire a trustworthy maid.

Nalulungkot rin ako sa mga kaklase ng anak ko na nakikilala ko where their parents are both working abroad and they are reared by grandparents.

@freelancer_babe

Sobrang pareho tayo ng sentiments sis.

The best expression of love is time because it's something you cannot regain or turn back. When you try to convey your love through material things, hanggang utak lang nila yun, hindi tatagos sa puso nila.

Kung kinakailangan talagang magtrabaho ng both parents, it's advisable for parents to date their children regularly, one child at a time. Sobrang importante kasi na maramdaman nila yung presence ng magulang nila at yung undivided attention. Dun nila simulang mafifeel na importante sila.

good thing nabasa ko tong thread na to! i just wanna thak you all for sharing! I am 22 years old and a mom also. they say bata pa ko and i can work. sabi nga ng dad ko before, kung magkapamilya na ko, wag kong hahayaan na hindi ako payagan ng hubby ko na hindi magtrabaho. as of now, SAHM din ako, kasi frustrated pa ko if i will pursue my career as nurse o itry ko na [textspeak!] sa corporate. i was a company nurse before, i guess it was a good start for me, pero hindi din ako nagtagal sa company because parang naging nakakatamad to the point that when i get to work, it seems like demotivated ako, and i didnt let it go that way kaya nagresign ako. super boring and nakakamiss baby ko. Now, reading all your stories makes me feel encouraged. i guess siguro, sa corporate muna ako. hirap din magwork sa hospital.

Stay at home mo ang gusto ko.  Sad but true, we are all dispensable sa company. Parang balewala lang lahat ng ginugol mong oras at panahon once you are no lomger useful them.

Inspiring stories! I am not yet a WAHM, not even engaged. Lol, but I know deep in my heart that I am going to be a WAHM someday! Pero I am afraid that I might get bored and stuff kaya ngayon pa lang, I am backing up my life. Took Techno MBA tapos pursuing my writing career on oDesk and outside of oDesk. Lol, I can just write at home or be a marketing consultant or whatever through oDesk. And I am thinking of a business na din.

I do have a bf though and we have a plan to get married na. No concrete date pa naman, but I want to be ready na if I am going to be a WAHM na! :)

Good luck MissChievous!

Depends what "boring" is to you :)

like

no social life
no intellectual stimulation
nothing much to do (if you don't have a maid, then dito lagi kang tambak).  ;D

But as for the first two, nagagawan naman ng paraan :)

Siguro kung magkaka-second baby ulit ako (if God permits) baka I'll choose to be a stay at home mom again. For me, iba talaga ang bata na lumaki sa mom kesa sa iba. But since iisa pa lang siya at nag-aaral naman na, for now i-career ko na ang pagiging career woman :)
