How to deal with babies suffering Colic?

effective po ba talaga yung restime? gusto ko sana itry yung mga meds mentioned here pero takot ako magpainom without pedia's advice pero if this will help--i might try.. nakakaawa na kasi si baby...

hi sis, Restime ni recommend ng cousin ko na pedia. Pero naka bili nako Relestal Drops. ok din naman. my son's colic episode until he is 1 1/2 months.

Help nman po... my baby is going 6months this Juyl pero may colic episodes pa din sila.. like this past 3 nights, umatake na naman...naka Isomil na kami per pedia's advice, pigeon peristaltic nipples on Ai-non bottles.. tapos na din kami sa restime drops at kung [textspeak!] ano pang gamot ... May iba pa po bang paraan na alam kayo? Thanks

Thank God I found this thread! My son is 3 weeks old. They say acceptance is key so I am acepting the fact taht he just might be colicky. His crying spells starts at around 10 to 11 pm and usually ends at 2 to 3 am. Oh, parusa. Nakakapagod din. At nakakaawa kasi iyak talaga ng iyak kahit anong gawin namin. We tried restime pero parang walang effect. Is this a matter that we have to consult to our pedia? Nahiiya kasi ako minsan tumawag sa pedia ko e. *sigh* So we just try to endure it until it goes away.

^we have a similar experience sis.. nag start maging colicky ang baby ko when he was 2months old.. close to 3months.. his pedia recommended giving gripe water.. nakatulong naman.. at least hindi na 4hrs of stress a day..

^ gave my baby gripe water also when she was colicky, prescribed by her pedia. Got it from health and beyond at market market.

Sayang i didnt kniw about this soon - boiron cocyntal for colic. we use boiron camilia drops for teething, super effective. I'm thinking bakang cocyntal drops are just as effective for colic.

^sis Health & Beyond in Market Market is a shop? Parang Healthy Options? May i know the name/brand of the gripe water you bought.
My pedia recommended the aciete de manzanilla tapos medicine then i asked her about gripe water, she said i can try it daw if im able to find it in Manila. She wasnt able to give me instructions on how to use it... How do you actually administer the gripe water?

^ yup, health & beyond is the name of the shop. Pero sa market market stall lang siya. I called different branches muna to inquire about stock.

I dont remember the brand of gripe water. We gave it using a munchkin medicator.

Aceite may burn the skin so hinay hinay sa paggamit nyan.

Prone sa colic ang son ko eversince he was a baby related na din sa food allergy. I just massage his tummy gently or i just rest my palm on his belly(i have very warm palms) makes him release gas. Pedias don't recommend kasi yung mga nilalagay sa stomach dahil naaabsorb daw ng skin nila kasi super nipis pa.

My baby is colicky for almost a week now. Ang masama pa, everytime na uutot siya may lalabas na poop, so i thought diarrhea siya. We gave her pedialyte pa nga until yesterday, sabi ng pedia colic daw yun and hindi diarrhea.

Earlier, i was able to get woodward's gripe water dahil nabasa ko nga dito last night na effective yun. I will try it today sa baby ko. Wish me luck

My baby was colicky the first few months too.  I did everything the pedia advised plus those I researched on my own.  Super stressful to the point na pati ako umiiyak na din.  I bought Boiron's Cocyntal from Healthy Options which was a big help and helped calm down the babywith just 1 dose.  The SA said it is more effective than Gripe water.  I also changed my diet since I breastfeed/pump.  I avoided cruciferous food like broccoli (which is my fave) and which I ate all the time bec. it causes gas in babies.  It lessened my baby's colicky episodes with my diet change. 
The best advise I got though is to just hang in there because it will all pass when they reach 4 months.  And it did! Total opposite of my baby's temperament now in her 5th month than her 1st 4 months.

^ hi sis, i tried it yesterday for the first time sa baby ko. it was effective. usually kasi, she will cry na starting 9pm until 1am. I gave her 1 teaspoon woodward's gripe water around 4pm, mixed it with 3 oz water and naubos niya ng mga 6pm. Nakatulog siya ng maayos until 1am, nag start na siya ulit umiyak and naninigas na naman siya and then hirap na hirap mag burp and mag fart. I didnt give her gripe water anymore kasi hindi ako sure if its ok to give her another 1 teaspoon. Ayun, she stopped crying and nakatulog na around 4am. Kanina, nagpunta na kami sa pedia and she prescribed restime. Pero as needed lang daw. As of the moment, hindi pa naman sinusumpong si baby..

Just an update, mas gusto ko ang restime. Once ko pa lang siya pina-take sa baby ko since Tuesday after namin mag visit sa pedia niya and hindi pa siya ulit sinumpong ng colic until now.. I gave her .5ml drops of restime Tuesday night. So far so good naman ang resulta. I just hope magdire-diretso na ang sleep niya. And if ever sumpungin ulit, hindi na ako kakabahan.

IMO, mas ok ang restime kaysa sa gripe water. Sa gripe water kasi, nakakatakot ang mga burp at fart ni baby. As in super lakas na parang hindi na pang baby ang sound. And parang hindi lang ako kampante na ipainom ito sa anak ko. Sorry. With restime naman, panatag ang loob ko since prescribed by pedia ito. And she fell asleep agad when i gave this to her, meron burp and fart but not scary yung sounds.

Is sumpong colic? Haha sorry my yaya says that everytime my baby is fussy during feeding, eh tagalog is not my first language so I don't know what it means and my yaya doesn't know the english equivalent.

Is it considered colic if baby only cries during feedings? We're approaching 3 weeks na of my baby hysterically crying at every feeding. I've tried researching and some other moms who have had similar experiences with their babies said it's silent reflux. Recommendation was to switch to Dr. Brown bottles.

I really don't know if its colic, silent reflux or just my baby being maarte. Once she's in a position she likes she'll drink straight naman - though sometimes if you take the bottle out (like if she chokes, or it falls out coz she moved her head) she'll cry hysterically again and won't drink anymore.

It's starting to get draining and I dread feeding times when I'm the one to feed baby.

For those who have given restime, is it medication ba or parang homeopathic remedy kinda similar to gripe water? Also immediate ba yung effect?

^ yes sis, restime has immediate effect for my baby. parang magic ni Ina Magenta  ganun siya kabilis for my baby. im not sure though if its medication or remedy lang but the generic name kasi is simeticone. I hope our other sisses here can help us here. Im scared lang rin baka ma-addict na yung baby ko sa restime.

For those looking for gripe water, I saw it at Healthy Options at BHS, small bottle lang for 875. I don't know how much you're supposed to give each time or how many times a day.
