hi sis, try going to t. alonzo st in sta.cruz/binondo, for more choices in av very low prices. Got ours from there and sobrang nakasave talaga kami ni h2b ko.

^dun sa specific type na gusto ko parehas lang sa a&s sa ortigas depot at dun sa soler bukas hanap ulit pag ganun pa rin bilhin ko na sayang din kasi ang gas pero nakakatuwa rin kasi mag iikot

saan naman pwede magpagawa ng shade ng lamp?  kupas/mantsado na kasi yung fabric ng shade nung lamp.  tama ba term ko "shade"?

@tiggerlily, most stores in Soler are closed on Sundays.  Baka yung big stores lang ang open.  Sayang naman because there are good finds in small stores.

Soler Street and T. Alonzo Street have very good prices.  We got fab finds at incredibly low prices at that big store in the orange building at the corner of T. Alonzo and another street (not Soler).  We got our round "drop" light for the dining room for a ridiculous P5000 (in Decor at Ortigas Home Depot, it costs P12000) and kitchen drop lights for P350 each, in Dwell Eastwood, that costs P5000/set of 3 lights.  Cheaper because in the latter, aluminum and not stainless steel ang material used.  But since it's purely for decorative purpose, go na kami.  Nice no?   The owner/son of owner gives a discount for bulk purchases so we got our lighting fixtures for the bed and bath rooms here, Fiam brand.  We got the kaha lang and replaced the bulbs with Philips energy saver bulbs.  Super cheap lang, around P500-800, but they look more expensive ha.   May discount pa.     We went here 2x when we were moving to our house last year kasi mura talaga.

There's a small shop along Soler that sells nice lights for the garden (yung naka-stand and yung naka-mount sa wall) plus modern-looking chandeliers and lighting fixtures.  I forgot the name, starts with an "I" and we got our lights for the garden there.  They said Dingdong Dantes got his lights for his condo (the one featured in Yes!) from them.  Malapit this store sa Arranque Market.  Basta, go there.  It has an attic and I found the chandeliers really nice, not the old style na pang-Malacanang ha.  Modern or may twist.  Nice and classy.  Looks more expensive than it costs.   I'll check my receipt for the exact name of this store.

Sa Ortigas Home Depot, we got from Luxen our big modern chandelier-type light for the staircase landing and sa Light Arts our modern cubist type lighting fixture for the living room - we rarely use this though because the light bulbs are halogen.  Ouch sa electric bill.  Luxen and Light Arts have branches at Soler too but according to the sales girl, same pricing lang.

Sa MC Home Depot along Ortigas Avenue naman, we got most of our outdoor lights, for the garage, gates and posts.

For lamps, I like Keystone Lamps, though hindi pa ako nakakabili here. 

We got Philips energy saver light bulbs naman to put inside the main kaha and for the mood lights para tipid sa electric bill.  From Wilcon naman.

I do not like A & S.  I find the lighting fixtures there "palasak" na.  Basta, hindi ko type.     There are other stores offering more updated looks for a cheaper price.

Tip ko lang for Soler goers.  Get an early bird discount by going to the stores as soon as they open.  They think it's buenas kasi so take advantage of that.

@tiggerlily, sis sarado halos lahat mga stores sa soler pag sunday. May 1 bukas along t. Alonzo na lights store at 1 malaki na tiles & furniture naman ang tinda.

^ Hi Rain!  I checked my receipts.  The name of the big store is Interlighting Sales - 619 T. Alonzo Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Wow, looks like you can host a walking tour of the light stores in the metro na ha?   Thanks to you I also ended up buying part of my light requirements in Soler. 

I noticed that Interlighting Sales and A&S Lamps have the same price - the pinlights for cabinets I got from Interlighting while I got the ceiling mount types from A&S.  I had difficulty looking for simple ceiling mount types in Soler since most stores have the plastic casing with designs.  Even the drop lights with a simple shade I had to check each store since most stores have the printed ones - stripes and florals.  But if you're leaning on the modern side, I find the choices in Art Lights and Interlighting nice enough.  Itre Lights have more pricey items while you can find the cheaper counterparts in Interlighting.

Sayang lang I haven't been to Ortigas Home Depot and the Home Depot in the Fort.

Oh, Abstract Lamps (sa Alabang Home Depot) can customize lamps to fit your interior.  The sales lady is really accommodating.

^ Interlighting and A & S have related owners, I believe.  Mas updated lang the big light fixtures and chandeliers in Interlighting.

It's difficult to find non-plastic ceiling mount lights nga.  We made do with plastic for bathrooms because hindi naman naka-turn on all the time.  The electricians who installed those also said they're quite safe naman.  Another brand for this is Opple, which I found in Light Arts.

Our house is modern so my husband and I really liked the choices in Itre, Luxen and Light Arts.

One more shop in Ortigas Home Depot that sells nice lights is Decor.  We got our lights in our previous condo there.  Modern din most of the stuff.  They have those modern chairs din na puwedeng pang-accent.

By the way, before we got our lights, we took pictures and sent MMS to our architect just to check if the item we want will fit in the look we wanted to achieve for our house.  Hindi na kami kumuha kasi ng interior designer since our architect/contractor is really mabusisi with finishing and decor.  In most stores naman, pumapayag mag-take ng pictures (except Itre) basta ipaalam mo and explain that you are not a competitor.

@happy pomelo, sa soler sis at ortigas depot pero same price lang kaya ayaw ko talaga kurips d ko ma-take 10T+ na presyo sa lighting fixture. Though yung mga nakikita ko na maaayos nasa 50T+ up kaso mabilis ako magsawa nagpapalit ako agad kaya d sulit if mahal

^Interlighting store is at the ground floor of that orange building.  It's the same side as East West Bank and there's a Bank of PI on the other side of the street.

I was also under a tight budget - so I scouted the light fixture stores in malls and Alabang Home Depot.  P50k is a waaay out of my budget so I had to steer clear of the big fixtures.  I guess it's practical for you not to spend too much since you might want to change the look every so often.

In Abstract nga, I saw a photo of nice modern cube chandelier, it was taken at the owner's home daw.  The price? P200k... Oh my...

i can't find the thread where i read it. pero is it safe to have fiam brand na lights? puro ganon kasi yun last na binili ko from soler.

@happy pomelo, yes sis yung mabilis maaring palitan medyo ayaw ko mag invest ng mahal sa standard ko haha sa iba kasi mura pa yung mahal sa akin. Kaya binabalanse ko rin na realistic naman yung gusto ko na presyo sa light fixtures na napupusuan ko.

@tiggerlily, puro fiam nga yung nasa soler pero kanina nakita ko yung nasa 1 store sa mc home depot ganun na ganun yung nakita ko sa soler pero wala na yung fiam na brand. Sana nga may makasagot if ok naman itong brand na ito
