Nice Stories about Yayas and other household helps
« on: March 29, 2010, 04:09:41 pm »
So far, panay nega nakita kong topics and natakot tuloy ako.  My super ok na yaya just went home to her province because her daddy died.  Bigla na lang she decided that she won't return anymore.  So, I need to replace her.  I am feeling down kasi she's super sayang.  So I need people to make me kwento that there are good yayas out there.  Share naman para ma-relieve din yung iba :)

I've had my share of good and not-so-good yayas.

1.  Midwife-yaya - got her when my kids were 2 months old and she was a lifesaver!  As a first time mom, wala akong alam about baby care.  True enough, alam niya magpaligo, take ng temperature, mag-nebulize, magbigay ng vitamins na exact ang dosage, mag-warm properly ng breastmilk ko and tiyaga magpakain sa babies ko.  She was with us for almost 2 years. She also trained yaya 2 below and all the assistant yayas who came and left.

2.  Yaya who just left - I got her to assist midwife-yaya until she became the head yaya.  Hay naku, super daling turuan, maayos pa mag-English, nakaya niya for several months alagaan mag-isa ang toddlers ko (naging toddlers na kasi ang dating babies hehe), helps out pa with cooking and other chores even without my having to ask her, really cared about my kids and well, marunong talaga. :(

3.  I had another yaya na refined, malinis, mahinhin and maayos din mag-English though with Visayan accent. Kambal na boys kasi, so you can imagine the kalikutan.

Hay naku, I always pray na makakuha kami ng good and caring yaya.  Our yaya now is relatively young and galing sa province.  Mabait naman but I am pretty sure she will not be like yayas 1,2 and 3.

my yaya has been with me since my baby was only 4mos. old..she is a midwife by profession..supposedly plano niya was just to save enough money to apply for a job abroad, but as time passed parang napamahal na sa kanya ang baby ko,and i guess our whole family na din, kaya she has been with us for almost 3 yrs now...

madaling turuan kasi may initiative to learn at mataas ang aptitude level..so in cases, when i'm out of town/country,i just list down all my instructions, ayun nakakafollow naman ng orders...i also taught her how to use skype, and yahoo para that way,my hubby and i can just talk and check on them while we're at work... ;)

she rarely goes on a day off, kasi daw gastos, since she also sends money and supports her younger sister to college..but when she does, laging may bitbit na pasalubong for our baby kahit small things like bubble toy,or stickers... :)

during my baby's 2nd birthday, her gift was a personalized album she made with pictures of her with our whole family, and si baby in different outings or kahit anong simple occasions we had in the past years! dito ako sobrang na touch kasi, she took time pa despite her busy sked to create her album w/stickers,labels and funny comments!  :D

this coming 3rd bday ni baby,we got her a passport since we're taking her along with us to a trip to hk disneyland..bale yun na din ang one way of showing her how much we appreciate her in our home...sana tumagal pa siya sa amin till my baby is in big school na,kasi she mentioned, she is looking forward to the time,na papasok na silang 2 sa big school! hahaha  ;D

We have a yaya who has been with us for 4 years already.  She was initially hired as one of our househelper lang pero she had the initiative to help out in taking care of my eldest daughter, she was just 1 month old at that time.  She observed every preparations I made for my baby and had the initiative to do these chores kapag umalis ako or busy with other things. Then I got pregnant with our twins, ayun siya na yung kasama kong nagalaga.  Kinaya niyang mag-isa until nakahanap kami ng makakasama niya.  All my 3 kids love her, especially my son.

:D   She also doesn't go out except with us, wala ding cellphone though pinapagamit ko yung cel ko para makausap naman niya family niya.
Stay-at-Home Mother of FIVE! :D

Midwife-yaya's salary was P7000/month, with 13th month pay and occasional bonuses (P1000-2000) when hubby and I receive our bonuses too para may consuelo sila + birthday and Christmas gifts
Yaya 2 started with P3000/month then we increased her salary to P3500/month; if she returns, we told her we'll increase her pay to P4500/month, with 13th month pay and occasional bonuses + birthday and Christmas gifts

wow...super swerte kayo!  kaya lang ang mahal, no?  7k...where do you get midwife-yayas ba, agency din?

ako naman, feeling bad these days.  the super ok yaya i mentioned above turned out bruha pala.  sabi ng isang yaya, she would hurt my 2 year old daw (slap sa face) pag umiiyak and ayaw tumigil.  Grabe.  I just found out last saturday about this.  blessing in disguise na rin pala that she left na.  grabe.  this just shows that you cannot be too trusting talaga.  ang advice nga sa 'kin is to get a cctv camera para alam ko talaga nangyayari.  kaya mommies, beware....

^ I got the midwife-yaya from an agency.

Yaya 2 sent me a text message the other day to tell me that she's going to return on April 28.  Yipee.

Haay, oo nga, I'm glad my mommy lives with us para maiwasan ang evil deeds.  And my kids now are able to make sumbong na if anything untoward happens to them.  They're really talkative.

^ Hindi lahat.  I get mostly from referrals pa rin.  But in case wala talaga akong makuha, I get from agencies.

Yayas 1 and 3 are from agencies.  Our all-around helper now is also from an agency.  They came from the following:

Midwife-yaya - Asonics
Yaya 3 - MTC
All-around - Maids, Inc.

So far, wala pa namang horror story.  Suwerte rin ako. :)

The best yaya I had for my daughters is a midwife I got from St Lukes. She took care of my eldest daughter for 9mos and my youngest daughter for 3mos... She's very nice and very loving to me and my kids. She took care of them on their first day and I am so glad to have met her. She taught me how to feed baby (encourage me to breastfeed and even brings malunggay leaves in the morning), how to get temperature, how to give bath, how to give vitamins, how to hold baby, how to change nappy and my list goes on. What I know now is what I have learned from her. I think she's the only house help who NEVER EVER gave me a headache... There are times I ran out of patience to my present house help and that makes me really miss her. Hay! No one can calm me down like she does... We still text each other, she visited us once in our home in the province and she attends my kids' parties.

^ yes sis pinkypop_30...when she gave me the album, napaluha talaga ako..kasi she included in her album pictures of my baby that i myself didn't have!!! kunwari am at work and may bagong antics si baby, she would document it pa just so my hubby and i wont miss a thing!...i have this journal kasi at home wherein,i list down things that my baby had done or when she reached a milestone...si yaya din may ganun siya hahaha  :D...funny kasi she would let me read her notebook, tapos kunwari lahat ng ginawa ni baby that day,she also listed for me to see...eg...sample ng entry niya : " today my alaga, spelled her first long /complicated word "TURTLE" at age 11 mos & 20 days...am so proud of her,i think she is a genius!!! i love you my alaga! "  :) aaawww!!!

or minsan another entry: "baby is playing with her mommy now..ma'am is teaching baby the different planets/animals etc"...may side comment pa siya ng "pati ako natututo na din na ang gerbil/weasel/capuchin pala ay isang type of animal hahaha " ;D

i really pray that she will stay with our family for a long time...actually same goes with our other househelpers...some of them have been with my family since i was in kindergarten!...yung iba kahit nag-asawa na,they always come to visit everytime there's an occasion like b-days,x'mas,new year etc... :)

If you don't mind ... saan mo siya nakuha through agency ba? Basta you're lucky to have her :)

Hangga rin ako sa ibang kasambahay nyo ha ... since kinder ka pa that's awesome  ;)

Sa kasalukuyan naman me yaya kami for our little girl. She is kind, malambing at masipag too. She and baby loves to sing naman ... kaya ayun nagsi-sing si baby pag asa house and kahit minsan pag naglalaro siya.

Our yaya is a tomboy pero super sipag sa household chores and he este she loves our toy poodle to death. Sana magtagal kabaitan niya at wag tubuan ng sungay coz spoiled din siya sa Amin, pagnagpapadeliver Kami food we also ask her Kung ano gusto niya iorder. We bought house stuffs sa family niya sa province. So far la pa kaming reklamo.

^^^ i got her from an agency sis...at first medyo hesitant pa nga ako kumuha sa kanya, kasi nga she mentioned that her plan was to go abroad, baka di nga tumagal...but when i interviewed several applicants, parang siya yung mas nakaangat kasi, mukhang knowledgeable and parang magaang ang loob ko right from the start...buti na lang i followed my instincts...

sana nga sis, matitino mga yaya, helpers napupunta sa atin lahat!...my mom, said, when we were still babies, and she had to entrust us to our yayas, she would always say a prayer to our guardian angels to guide and take care of us while she is away...today,i do the same with my child, para kahit wala ako,i know someone is protecting my baby...

actually sis, mukhang ok din yung yaya mo...your baby is learning to appreciate music kasi mahilig silang 2 kumanta!

sis funky F,i wish mabait din yung new yaya mo...just make sure that right from the start, clear cut yung mga responsiblities niya and what your expectations are...tapos from there you can more or less see kung bagay ba siya in your  home or not...di bale na kung medyo di masyado marunong basta may willingness to learn...importante din yung attitude ng yaya/helper...observe how she deals with other people in your home, manner of speaking with your kids, personal hygiene, kasi she is handling kids,etc...
good luck sis!

oo nga, sis, e.  #1 naman sa 'kin is that, she won't hurt my babies since my hubby and i work kaya sila lang naiiwan.  no choice but to "trust" them.  sana my new yaya is not like my yaya who just left - ok sa harap ko (as in, super ok.  jolly, dami turo kay baby, sipag, bait, polite, etc.) pero pag wala pala kami e, nanakit ng bata...hay...pray din ako sa guardian angel :)

^ sis pwede ka din maglagay ng laptop na may camera or webcam..tapos create ka lang ng account sa yahoo or skype..you will be able to monitor your kids at home ng libre... i do that,so from time to time,i can see my baby sleeping,or playing.tapos tatawag ako sa kanila...yung ibang friends ko,they linked their webcams na parang surveillance camera, not sure lang how much it costs though...

pareho tayo sis ng no.1 priority,i made it clear to everyone in the house, that no one has the right to discipline, shout at or worse, hurt my child- it does not matter kahit matagal na sila sa amin but i will have no qualms in firing them right there and then!
