my son is consistently having coughs and colds. halimbawa this week meron siya so bibigyan nang pedia nang gamot usually dimetapp or actifed saka zyrtec. gagaling naman pero after 3days babalik nanaman. magsisimula sa runny nose then tutuloy na nang ubo. ganoon nang ganoon. ang sabi samin allergy lang naman daw ito dahil maalikabok at pabagobago ng panahon. hindi siya binibigyan nang cough syrup para sa plema kahit matunog ang ubo nya dahil wala naman daw plema sa lungs. hindi rin binibigyan ng antibiotic.nakailang pedia visits na kami (second to third opinion minsan para makasigurado) at lahat sila ang sinasabi common allergy and viral cold lang daw ito. we even had him checked by an EENT para kung may ibang problema ba o sinusitis or kung ano man pero all is clear naman daw. nakakaawa kase na pabalikbalik tapos ulit lang nang ulit ang binibigay na gamot. we had him checked for asthma ang sabi wala din naman na wheezing.. we also had him checked kung may TB.. wala din daw... hay ano na gagawin ko?

sis, your kid has allergies & rhinitis which could lead to asthma. i suggest you go to a pulmo & allergy specialist.

Sis, alam ko kasi pag viral hindi talaga binibigyan ng antibiotic, hindi ko lang alam kung paano malalaman kung viral or hindi.

To be sure, go to a pedia pulmo, kasi mas forte nila talaga yan.  My daughter binigyan ng montelukast para sa ubo at sipon niya, first time, maintenance daw.

Mukhang allergy nga, dapat laging naka Vitamin C ang baby mo. Ganyan kasi ang anak ko may mild asthma sya kaya hindi talaga pwedeng walang vitamin c. mabilis kasing dapuan ng sipon at ubo.

sis kung allergy nga maybe iwas mo baby mo sa usok/dust, mga bagay na "mabuhok"  like cats/dogs, carpets, stuffed toys at strong odors.minsan sobrang init or sobrang lamig nakakapagtrigger din..

i have been looking/asking around for a pulmonologist. we are in the middle east kase. wala pa akong mahanap as of now. lagi naman naka vitaminC ang anak ko. Ceelin chewables 1tablet per day and vidaylin chewable mutivitamins 1tablet per day. i clean our house frequently para iwas dust and dumi. wala kaming stuffed toys. we have 1 small carpet in the living room which i vacuum everyday. we change his beddings and the curtains weekly. hypoallergenic na din ang mga pillows nya. napapagod na nga ako.. naaawa din ako sa kanya..

cheesecak3 how were you able to determine na may mild asthma ang anak mo? i keep on asking sa mga pedia nya kase kung may asthma ba ang anak ko ang sagot sa amin wala... wala naman daw kase na wheezing.. pero one time pinag singulair siya for one month para daw pampatibay nang lungs after that hindi na.. ang alam ko nga pang-asthma ang singulair

hindi talaga masasabi ng doctor na may asthma ang bata kung wala talagang wheezing na naririnig. singulair is given as well for allergic rhinitis. why don't you ask the pedia if you can try nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. plus have your kid tons of water

try checking the website for the society of pedia jan sa country you're staying. i bet dun madami ka dun makukuha.

i also suggest going to a natural or homeopathic pedia. my kids are managed by a pulmo & homeopathic pedias.

alam ko kasi ang symptoms ng asthma kasi asthmatic din ako, kaya nong naobserve ko sa anak ko yong symptoms alam ko na kung papano sya iiwas. kapag nagkaroon na kasi sya ng sipon at hindi ko naagapan napupunta na sa asthma kaya ingat na ingat ako na hindi sya sipunin.  I informed his pedia about it at yon kapag meron ng wheezing sound, yon pinapainom ko na ng ventolin syrup.

ako naman here's my kwento:
march 16-17: for 2-3days may ubu-ubo na si baby, initially gave him Mucosolvan and NSS nebulization. pero meron pa din. on the 3rd day, pina-checkup na namin. Binigyan sya antibiotic, mucosolvan and asmavent.
for a week after maubos antibiotic gumaling sya for 2 days. - thats from march 19-25). so ok na, umuwi kami ng province where he will celebrate his 1st bday.

march 28 (his 1st bday pa man din), napansin kong may sipon-sipon at sininat ng gabi (maybe sa pagod din sa party nya the whole day).
we gave him tempra.

march 30 pauwi kami to manila (with continous sipon at ubo pa din).
from the span of the trip 1pm-6pm natulog lang sya at nasa manila na kami napansin ko ang "paalon" na paghinga... as in hirap na siya huminga at even sa sasakyan madidinig mo ang breathing  nya.

Kinabahan na talaga ako, (the Pedia-Pulmo i know is not available - she's in MMC)
I rushed him sa Emergency (Madocs, pinakamalapit that time) and he was admitted (kinuhanan siya CBC, xtray etc), nebulized right away and with Oxygen being monitored.
My baby was admitted from march 30-april6... sa hospital kami nag-Holy week.
Diagnosis: Pneumonia
We got home but to continue antibiotic and nebulization for 2 days.

we we're happy then at ok na siya. sabi ng doc, ok with the pag-ubo kasi it means lumalabas or "pumuputok" na ito.

BUT! Night of April 8, napansin ko medyo sininat na naman at again, nahirapang huminga.

the very  next morning, we went to a PEDIA-PULMO. And the Doctor said that its not Pneumonia but its ASTHMA we are dealing with!
(im not sure if its mild or what)

Oh My God!!!

so  ngaun, he's under a regimen we are strictly following: Ventolin and Seretide inhaler with Prolix (a steroid - doc assured us that's its fine for my baby).

We are somewhat relieved that finally, we know ano ang sakit niya at we are treating him and hopefully for life.

nakakainis lang at ang dami pa napagdaanan and all.
Sana mga mommies, you learned kahit papano.

and we all pray na mawala ito sa baby ko.

my 2nd daughter nung 1st year niya lagi siyang sinisipon at ubo halos every other month or minsan everymonth pa nga nka-antibiotics! pero since i gave her VITAZINC or any vitamins with zinc, tumibay immune system niya! thank God at hindi na siya sipunin at ubuhin ngayon..

yes ask mo, kasi zinc boost the immune system ng mga bata which in our case medyo mababa pala immune system niya kaya siguro mabilis siyang sipunin at ubuhin..

son ko din nung first year nya madali ubo and sipon then nag lead to asthma..

then we found out about oregano.. we had him take this everytime he has a cough.. nasusuka nya lahat ng phlegm talaga...

now we discovered honey and lemon naman.. heat namin ng konti para warm nya ma-take.. mas maganda ang effect than oregano... nasusuka din ang cough and nakaka soothe ng sore throat..

you can let your baby try din..

nako yung mga boys ko sis ganyan din for a long time...then nirequest ng pedia to have xray tapos nag isoniazid sila then montelukast tapos yun hnd na sila sakitin for 3months di na sila nagkaubo or sipon...kahapon lang ulit kase dami nilang nakain na sweets...

^sis maeka, my son is on montelukast din.. he'd been on montelukast since end of january.. for 3 months sya mag montelukast.. and he was on Seretide a month for 2 puffs twice a day.. now on his 2nd month for 2 puffs once a day.. after this, wala na daw..

twice inubo son ko since he was given this medication and we gave him honey/lemon and/or oregano at that time.. ok na ok naman ang combo nito..

hi mga sis, share ko lang.. my daughter is 4months old, she's only 8months when i gave birth to her, yung husband ko may history ng asthma kya super worried ako na magkaron din c baby ko..

just dis week nagkaron ng ubo't sipon c baby ko, sobrang nakakaawa sya pag umuubo tpos wala pang tigil yung ubo nya pag sinumpong. nagpunta narin kme ng makati med ska sa pedia nya almost same lang yung sinabi.. allergy lang daw. sa makati med ni-nebulize sya with 1/2 salmutamol  + 2ml of NSS, khit papano naging ok sya den the pedia advised to continue her vit c (Ceelin) den sa pedia [textspeak!] nya after her check up she said na allergy nga lang daw and since may history ng asthma c husband nid nmin mag ingat lalo na sa mga dust,smoke...
so her pedia gave her allerkid, disudrin and continue lang yung nebulize.. [textspeak!] gnun prin [textspeak!] yung ubo nya e though yung sipon nawala na because of disudrin (super effective kc [textspeak!] to sa sipon) den we decided na bigyan sya ng cefaclor (antibiotic na nireseta ng pedia nya nung una nmin sya pina check up dahil din sa ubo nya) super effective to sknya as in and so far sa ngaun nakaka 2 days plng nya nitatake nagiging ok na sya. nakaka smile and nalelessen na [textspeak!] ubo nya. pro sympre i will advise na kelangan alam ng pedia ni baby b4 sya mag take na khit an anong medicine sa case kc nmin nag bilin [textspeak!] pedia ni baby ko na pag medyo greenish na [textspeak!] sipon nya [textspeak!] na nmin ipatake nung cefaclor na med and ngaun nakakahinga na kme ng maayos kc umu OK na c baby ko.

^my son is on montelukast too... pedia gives him for 2 months, then stop... switch to nasal spray kami every morning for the next 2 months... then back to montelukast ulit... effective naman...
