Solo Travels (Thread 2)

@senorita_wia: IMHO,  Boracay is a good destination for solo travels, safe naman. It's my fave beach destination, I'd never tire of it!    Kung hindi pa nga ko nakakapunta dun, yun ang destination ko for sure for my upcoming solo birthday travel.  Iba ang charm ng Boracay for me.  I really try (&save up for it) na at least once a year, ma-visit ang island and it enthralls me even more with each visit.  I'm sure mag-eenjoy ka even if you're alone, just the usual safety measures, keep an eye on your stuff, bring just enough cash when eating out & keep the rest in a safe, be wary of who you'll befriend, moderate booze lang & don't give too much info.

i want to do a solo travel din on my birthday. parang i want sa baguio, para kahit mag isa ako at least medyo gamay ko yun lugar kasi first time ko ito gagawin. next time na lang yun sa unfamiliar place. hehe..

I'm comfortable travelling alone.  I actually have a yearly solo trip.  THis year I went to Anawangin, Zambales.  It was a such refreshing trip.  It's nice to have time alone for yourself and to relax without having to worry about other people.

my first solo travel was when i went to US. well i visited friends in 3 different states in 2 weeks and at first i really missed my hubby but then, going there , for the first time and alone is a very good experience for me. iba yung feeling. plus i told him its a gift for myself na din kasi he wants us to have a baby soon. so i told him i want to do one last thing that ive been dreaming bago kami mag baby. so ayun!

^^no sis, traveling alone is not depressing at all.  consider it as a "me" time.  you get to decide everything - where to go, when to go, where to eat, etc.  you don't have to share your hotel room and bathroom with anybody.  you can indulge in a good book during the flight since you don't have to speak to anybody.  it's indulging your selfish side =D

^^^ based on experience, hinde naman talaga, but depending on how you see it lang siguro..

IMO ~~

pros
- you don't have to wait for anybody
- nobody will wait for you either
- you can take your time shopping or staring at nothing (or something or somebody  )
- getting lost will not matter since nobody will be pissed at you for bringing them to the situation
- you own the bathroom 
- you can do whatever you want
- you can eat wherever you want

cons:
- picture is always with a tripod or my arm 
- sometimes you just want to share a particular experience with somebody, but oh yeah, you're alone
- a bit more expensive coz there's nobody to share expenses with
- it's hard when you get sick along the way
- even more difficult when you meet scary people

all in all, going solo ain't bad... but it's sometimes nice to travel with people you know..

before I also have a misconception of traveling solo always means pagsesenti at pagsoul searching. I was very wrong. for some, it's a preference.

my soul is at peace with Jesus when I finally decided to travel alone. and I really had a great time. above all, it's very fulfilling.
now I understand why a lot of people do this. it takes one to know one.

alone all the way ka ba or sumali ng tour group? hehee.. yung solo travel kasi dito parang 2 meanings e.. interested kasi akong mag solo dun, pero not sure if it's a good idea, baka better if sali ako ng parang tour group. TIA

^agree with riandrew, lischan and artegirl.  Traveling alone is liberating. After reading Eat Pray Love, na-inspire ako na magplan  to travel alone kahit for 3 days lang, just to experience it.

i'll try it maybe next week...first stop...unwind sa Tagaytay for 2-3 days..

question: is it ok to leave a lappy when going out and you're check in a hotel and you're alone?  TIA

I had a solo travel to Cebu last AUg.21 to 22. It was nice! Manong driver was my photographer and guide hehe. Mas maraming nakikipagkilala pag solo travel pala. haha

in our country, you'll get amusement from other people pag solo ka nagttravel and will ask you "hindi nga solo ka lang?" "wala ka bang friends?" etc.. haha

pero sa ibang bansa, it's so common. no one will bother to ask bakit ka nagsolo travel.
