Voluntary Pagibig and Phil Health Contribution
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:30:41 pm »
I'm also self-employed, and around 4 yrs din akong employed and nag contribute sa SSS, Pagibig, and Philhealth.

1)
I see that we have a topic na for SSS contribution and that really helps me decide to continue my monthly contribution... How about Philhealth and Pagibig? is it worth it to continue my contributions with them?  10 years din ba before you can claim your pagibig benefits?

2)
Another question is, possible ba for me to use my pagibig contribution for a housing loan kahit self employed? I also plan to get married and my fiance has been contributing to pagibig for more than 5 years din, so if we get married, tataas ba yung pwedeng loan amount namin since pareho kaming pagibig members?

3)
As for PhilHealth, I think may maternity benefits din ito. If you are already paying monthly for SSS, worth it pa ba yung Philhealth or may benefits ang philhealth na hindi convered ng SSS?

sorry it's off topic pero if you'r employed required maghulog sa Philhealth and Pag-ibig? What if I don't want to sa Philhealth? hindi ko rin naman nagagamit yan at wala ng kwnta kung bigla ka mawalan ng work.

Philhealth voluntary contribution is only P100/month. When you get sick, malaki laki na rin ang mababawas sa hospital bills mo.  When my father got sick, the hospital bill was around P20K.  Philhealth paid 12K (including medicines bought outside the hospital. When you retire at 60, you do not pay the 100/month premium anymore- lifetime member na.

^ sis is there specific number of years of membership required to have it free after reaching the age of 60? Mother ko kasi paputol putol ang membership and she would no longer be my dependent pag nag asawa nako.

for ex.
employed ako.. employer pays P100/month and my share is P300/month (inincreasan ko share ko para tumaas din ang malo-loan ko) total contribution/month is P400.
you can loan 70-80% of you total contributions
last mpl ko i was given around P28,000++ payable in 2 years (1,400++/month)
what i do is i ask our acctg dept. to deduct P1800/month sa salary ko for my pag-ibig loan payment. para when i renew my loan (after six months of paying) meron pa akong rebate.

ang sss kasi renewable lang ang loan after 2 years.. hinde mo pwedeng taasan ang monthly payments mo..fixed yon..or even if you pay after 1 year..you still cannot renew your loan hanggat hinde natatapos ang 2 yrs from the date of your loan

Hmmm..  I'll see if I could shed some light on a few of your questions po.  I'm handling compensation and benefits at my office and based on what I've read from Philhealth and Pag-ibig (and also experiences of my colleagues):

@polykarblush:
1. Contributing to Pag-ibig and Philhealth, I guess is worth it at some point.  Most especially if you do not have any other type of fall back (no insurance, etc.)  Every little bit helps right?

You do not need to wait for 10 years before availing your pagibig benefits.  Depending on the type of benefit you wish to avail (be it housing loan, muti-purpose loan, etc.), you would just need to meet a required number of monthly contributions.

There is also an option for you to "withdraw" all you Pag-ibig contributions, including that of your employer in case of retirement, migration to another country, etc.  There are some more situations but it escapes me as of the moment.  The way I see it, its similar to the US' 401K program.

2. Yes, you can avail of a housing loan provided you meet the required number of monthly contributions.  The maximum loan amount does not depend on the number of contributions.  It will depend on the amount of contributions.

Ex: the min contribution today is P200 (100 for employer and 100 for employee share).  Thsi amount entitles you a max of 200K or 300K loanable amount.  I might be wrong about the actual figures though, but the principle is the same.  Please check the website for an update.

3.  Philhealth covers other medical cases as well.  Hindi lang Maternity.  They provide a certain amount as assistance everytime you are confined, etc.  Philhealth benefits, provided you have submitted complete requirements upon release from the hospital, will be automatically deducted from your pay.  Compared to SSS, reimbursement type.  SSS is more general, Philhealth more specifc.
As for the question if it is worth paying for it, then it is up to you to answer that.

@gilenn:
Yes PhilHealth and Pag-ibig contritions are mandatory.  Not voluntary.

@jeanv
The amount covered by Philhealth are not always assured to that much.  Baka sinuwerte lang kayo thata time.  Good for you.

Philhealth benefits are categorized so bka in your case, you were able to claim the max amount for each category.   :)

Skipping payments, in a way can affect your ability to claim for Philhealth benefits.  Considering that a member should have at least 3 monthly contributions within the 6 month period prior to the availment of the benefit.

In the long term, in order for you to be an assured Philhealth member is not based on your retirement but as to the number of monthly contributions, wether broken or continuous yung paghulog mo.  If you are retired but have not reached the required number of monthly contributions, then wala ka rin makukuha.

@chardonnay
Yes, there is a required number of contributions, as mentioned kay jeanv.  Even if you are married, you may still claim your mother as your depednet provided she is at least 60 years old and has not been a member of Philhealth before.

Hope this helps.   :D

I have sad & happy stories about phil health. 3 kaming magkakapatid n OFW, sister ko is more than 15 yrs ng pabalikbalik pero ni minsan di nya nagamit yung Phil Health, year Feb 2007 ng magbakasyon kami s pinas at na confined yung mother namin s hospital n accredited ng Philhealth, lahat ng documents required was submitted to them, we waited for how many months to check what is the result but it was rejected because di daw complete yung mga documents namin wala nagawa yung kapatid kasi nasa abroad n cya that time n malaman nya yung results, Oct 2008 my mom died but before she died she was hospitalized for 5 days. During that year we tried again to submit her hospital bill using my sis phil health but it rejected dahil expired n daw yung phil health nya so ang ginamit namin yung sa akin pero d pa rin namin na reimburse yung hospital bill ng mother ko, di na namin inalaam kung bakit na reject kc nakakasama lang ng loob dahil nagpabalik balik lang yung kapatid kong nasa pinas which is may pamilya rin naman inaaasikaso. Personally I'm disappointed kasi minsan lang namin nagamit yung Phil Health naming parang wala consideration my sis 15 yrs, I'm 8 yrs & my bro 10 yrs here in abroad ni minsan d namin nagamit ang phil health makikita naman nila yung contribution at tuloy tuloy ang contribution namin dahil yearly kami umuwi. Because of that experience I'm trying to use my Phil health as much as possible, kaya nung nanganak ako r2 s ME I applied my maternity (sss & Phil heath) n kahit maliit lang ang nakuha ko at least nagamit ko cya at happy naman ako at wala clang hininging additional requirements.

^kakainis nga yung nangyari sa inyo.  Pero this is what is bad about our government din.  No information dissemination.  So people are left to speculate on what is.  Very bad.   >:(

sis korek k dyan, due to the luck of specific info from the government staff na naka assign s mga government offices a lot of people left behind thinking what was really happened, kc ako ngayon problema ko [textspeak!] sss ko, it's very frustrating pero duon ako s sss topic magko comment. Pero di ko naman nilalahat but some of the staff kasi kung oobserbahan mo me mga approachable, me parang nagmamadali at me masungit rin.

^@ chardonnay:  Welcome.  If ever malaman na member yung mom mo ng PhilHealth before, you'll just to present a letter, written by your mom, stating that she would want to be removed as a PhilHealth member and be included as your dependent.

^^@mumsita:  Baket nga ganun noh?  Hindi ba they're call "civil servants"? ;D

^ Ay oo nga minsan nagpa member sya kaso she stop paying. Salamat. gawa na ako ng letter. anyway she'll be 60 by the end of the year kaya declare ko na lang as my dependent. Sis once question na lang. yung share ba ng philhealth sa hospital bills dependent on the number of contributions? or me certain percentage lang talaga? TIA

^Hindi po.  May table silang sinusundan e.  Hindi sya dependent on the the number of contributions.  Bale may max amount for room and board, meron for the doc's PF, etc.  I don't know the exactly amounts na po.   :D

Frustrating talaga minsan ang government officers.

Dinadalaw ko ang website ng mga iyan -
SSS [http://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/Section_View] medyo informational naman.
Philhealth [http://www.philhealth.gov.ph/], so so
Pag-IBIG [http://www.pagibigfund.gov.ph/], walang kwenta

higher amount of loan and PagIbig allows up to 3 immediate family members to get 1 loan together.

I got this from Philhealth website. If may questions pa ko, I call their office, ok naman mga sagot nila sa kin.

Important:
Your dependents need to be declared and/or updated with PhilHealth to include them in your Member Data Record or MDR, your official membership profile with PhilHealth. Your updated MDR will make your benefit availments easier and convenient.

Declare dependents now.

@mumsita - based from experience, masmahirap mag-claim pag sariling lakad. may instances kasi na company kung san ako employed ang nagsubmit ng mga requirements for me, follow up etc., and okay lahat ng kinalabasan. tapos may once na ako ang naglakad mismo. submitted requirements and waited for soooo many months pero wala pa rin reimbursement check namin. nagfollow up ako (mind you, super hirap tumawag and makahanap ng taong alam sinasabi nila) i even contacted the hospital to help since nagpasa rin sila ng requirements on my behalf. after more than 9 months siguro chaka sinabi na may kulang raw. and ang kulang na document na yun ay wala naman sa list ng requirements nila. the hospital being cardinal santos, very accomodating naman, tinulungan ako sa additional requirement (manggagaling rin kasi sa kanila ang documents) tapos nagsubmit ulit kami. eto, more than two years na, wala pa rin. pag tumawag ka sa philhealth, kung meron man makausap, sasabihin lang sayo - ay, wala pa po ba ang cheke? nakakadismaya.

OFW here... 900 every year ang contribution sa philhealth... binabayaran bago makuha yung exit clearance

simula nga pala ng August 1, 2010 mandatory na ang PagIBIG contributions for OFWs. minimum of p100 maximum is p1450 for monthly payments. pwede mag advance payments
