Daughter ko din di tabain, pero last year medyo tumaba sya pero di padin yung sobrang taba...nung mag 6 years old sya pumayat tingnan kasi biglang tangkad...laging pinupuna sa side ng asawa ko na sobrang payat daw, kulang nalang sabihin na di pinapakain ::) ang sinasagot ko eh "ok lang payat di naman sakitin tsaka matalino" :P

Ok lang yung payat or sakto lang, para if they get older di sila super tataba. hehe

basta healthy lang, wag naman underweight.

me, i don't like matabang kids..no offense sa mga may chubby kiddos..cute pa yan pag infant but when they enters toddler age medyo chakabells na tingnan...mas ok na yung nasa tamang weight basta hindi sakitin si baby ok na yan.

I do not know why most people cannot keep their preferences/observations to themselves. Kadalasan, pakialamera na taklesa pa.

What did I say to those who commented na payatot my very active, very healthy, very guapo son?   Simple response:  "oink, oink".   LOL
Usually, the person laughs;  a few walked away.

So there, pareho natin ayaw ng oink, oink or you are oink oink or your kid is the oink oink.    hehe

I just ignore it.  I really don't have to defend myself or my baby.  Pag inintindi mo kasi magmumukhang insecure ka pa.

On the other hand, I don't shut my eyes and ears sa mga ganoong observations. She was born with a healthy weight (7lbs 1 oz) but her weight kept dropping during the first few weeks.  Una in-ignore ko yung sinasabing pumapayat sya kasi ang alam ko maliit talaga pag breastfed so I just kept at it.  But after 2 months, she's lost more than 2lbs, so grabe na talaga ang ipinayat nya.  That's when I had to mix feed.  Long story short, it won't hurt to listen to other people's observations sometimes.  You don't have to take it negatively.  If it bothers you enough, next time you hear "ang payat ng anak mo!" and they sound concerned rather than just being mean, maybe you can ask for suggestions kung anong pwede mong gawin about it.

i agree with you sis, minsan naman lalo na if the observation comes from a mom din who understood na minsan may mga bata talagang di tabain pero healthy naman..it not sounded na mean sila it's just concern sila..hindi naman common na marinig na sabihin nila hindi mataba si baby mo noh?para lang masugar coat yung observation nila...case to case basis pa din mga sis...it's just we have to learn to accept and improve lalo para sa anak natin...

my 2.5 year old son kasi eats well... and is a fan of veggies and fish and rice, and isn't a fan of meat and seldom gets junk food (well ngayon napapadalas because craving ko, hehe)... he loves drinking milk din... basically, we managed talaga to raise a boy with an appetite for healthy eating :)

pero he's a super hyper boy... kumakain pa lang, naglilikot na... so ever since, hindi sya mataba. In laws would always comment na 'payat' sya but my hubby would often just say, 'hindi payat ang anak ko, overweight lang mga anak nyo' or 'hindi sya payat, matataba lang tayo'

i do check with his pedia if  i should be concerned but I never sweat his slender frame kasi:
1) ayoko magkaanak ng overweight (coz I know it poses more problems)
2) i know he's eating well
3) he has all the other signs of good nutrition
4) he's hitting all the usual developmental milestones
5) payat din ako when i was young
6) he has all the chance in the world to become fat when he's older

>:( gusto ko kasi maraming kain konting gatas. so pag di siya masyado kain we buy fruits nalang. maraming fruits, para kahit konting kain lang [textspeak!] fruits naman after. pero i still worry kasi mag 2 years old na siya by september and sabi ng pedia dapat by then 12 kilos na siya..

I think ganun nalang gawin niyo sis, fruits nalang pambawi.. may sustansiya naman din yun eh.. like my bay. he wants mga finger foods, eh ayoko naman na palagi chicken so ang ginawa ko.. bumili ako ng fish na pwedeng ifillet kahit tilapia okay na.. ififillet mo nalang. okay kumakain siya. mas gusto niya kumain kasi ng nagkakamay. mas marami nakakain niya pag ganun.. hehe  ;)

I definitely agree with you sis,
I know my son is gtting the propr nutrition that he needd, hindi lahat ng mataba healthy...madaling magpataba if you want to but it is very hard to lose weight,..diabetic ang lahi ng husband ko kaya I don't want him to hav a dilemma afterwards...

My son also is payatot  ;) He drinks milk thrice a day, he eats a lot, he has vitamins. Bawal ang junk foods and soft drinks. He never became underweight for his age. Pero still, when other people makes tactless comment, naiirita ako to the max! In-ignore ko nalang. Talagang ganon built ng katawan nya wala ako magagawa. And sa sobrang hyper nya, no doubt talaga na hindi sya tabain. As long as hindi sakitin, active sa school, gwapo anak ko, deadma nalang sa mga echoserang tao! LOL ;D

kaya wag na mairita sister! although nakaka-praning talaga yung health and well-being ng kids natin (lalo kami, my nephew was diagnosed with cancer at age 2, so ever watchful talaga kami), hindi kasi talaga titigil yung mga tao.... and since from age 1-7 ata, weird talaga yung shape/proportion ng mga bata (like till age 2-3, malaki tyan ng konti), so anything that isn't round is payat to people, even us... pero so long nga as we know that our child is eating well, and the pedia isn't concerned naman... keri lang

I don't even make it a point to give my son vitamins daily... and ever since, I aimed for a healthy diet/week instead of agonizing over his daily intake... pag may days na ayaw nya kumain, eh di wag. Basta ang rule lang namin is 90% of what he'll eat is healthy.... and he'll choose from what is available (kasi hindi kami short order cooks)...

but when he goes looking for grapes or apples... i usually buy agad the following day... katwiran ko, fruits naman eh :)

so yeah, if he didn't eat proper meals, wala din syang treats (junk food, sweet food)...

ibang usapan na nga lang for the other moms here whose kids don't eat well... kasi nga, anong ibi-burn ng hyper kids nila if walang intake...

^Sis, panganay ko (10yrs old) she is a girl, maitim, she always get the comment, "maganda ka sana kaso maitim ka lang",

then other one commented "maitim na nga maganda pa, paano pa yan kung pumuti"

I said "hindi maitim anak ko kayumanggi lang, mas ok na ang kayumanggi basta pantay ang kulay, pang Bb. Pilipinas ang beauty.

My youngest, naman taba daw or baboy. Muntik na ako mapaaway.
