Scuba diving can literally change your life and your pocket I started diving last year. my DSD was in Puerto Galera sept 2010 and my intent of diving is was just to have underwater pix to brag to my friends and family but I fell in love with it with my first breath of compressed air and decided to get certified as an open water diver. bought my basic dive gears and got certified last dec 2010 and have logged 19 dives since then. i promised to dive once a month... unfortunately i havent gone diving since may because of work... pag di ako nakakadive ng isang buwan, nakaka seasick! its so addictive.

there's a school to go to sa qc (near Blueridge Katipunan) its Divenet, that's where i took my course with Joy and Hernel Castillo. Very accomodating. They do their checkout dive in Aquaventure in Anilao. http://www.divenetphil.com/

will be diving this coming 27 and 28th in outrigger. wahai! excited!

sorry, dunno if this is off-topic...as i don't know where to post this.

i am not much of a beach bum as i don't wanna get dark skin. however, might be going to palawan this month and was think of gears to buy for island hopping and hopefully...be able to use it for diving too in the near future.

can anyone help me? what should i buy? what brand and where can i buy it? replies will be greatly appreciated as it will be an input for much waited trip for the year. thank you in advance. goodday!

Ang alam ko binibili for diving is wet suit, kaya lang sobrang mahal. Yung gears naman for diving, usually nirerent lang, even snorkeling, narerent din.

Kung snorkeling lang, buy ka lang ng snorkeling mask and syempre, snorkel.

kakatapos ko lang sa aking openwater dive lessons and i totally agree with sis jeea.lopez, scuba diving really changes your life.
from your first breath underwater pa lang. after i completed openwater lessons, parang ibang iba na talaga  ang feeling cant wait to dive again!
sakto naman may trip ako sa coron this april, any suggestions kung saan sa coron ang okay for newbie divers like me?

My bf is now a certified padi divemaster and he could also certify me for a skin diver but he's super strict,need ko daw muna maperfect ang swimming ko before nya ako isalang sa open sea.lol. Although nakapagintro dive na rin ako sa Bohol, he said it's better if I really know how to swim.

Got my certification from CMAS, and had my first open water dive at the director's resort at Anilao Batangas. He took his underwater dslr as well so we walked away with a dive log book, certification, and pictures.

Ang ganda sa Anilao. As in. Subsidized naman kasi kami since scuba diving is a PE class at our university. What normally costs P20,000 is immediately reduced to around P5000-P10000.

If I'm not mistaken, she took it in UP as a PE. I did this too, I think the discount is exclusively for UP students.

Super ganda sa Anilao, where I also had my checkout dive. It's eerie but super beautiful! I don't think words could express how beautiful an experience it was.

Pero ngek, after nung checkout (over a year ago) never na ko nakapag dive. I don't have buddies kasi. I really want to go to Bohol though.. Anyone tried backpacking to Bohol and then diving alone (meaning you don't know anyone in the group)? Or kahit hindi sa Bohol?

this is among my 'things to do before i die' list. hopefully, next year i'll be able to try scuba diving for the first time and get a license. since i live in Cebu, i'll probably check the dive shops in Mactan or in neighboring Panglao Island in Bohol. so excited..

hay gusto ko nga mag-backpacking sa Bohol. Yung tipong mag isa lang ako. Kaso medyo scary for a girl hahahaha. But omg talaga sa Balicasag, yung sudden drop sa snorkeling area, I really want to see what's down there.

really eager to pursue my dream of scuba diving next year and i want to get certified as well. but how? i've been scouting for dive courses online and usually rates play around 13-15k? ganon ba talaga kamahal yun? and what's the difference between fun dives/discover dives from open water dives? are they the same? is this when you will have an instructor with you? if you get certified meaning you can go all alone without an instructor?

looking at pictures on the internet, i realize the philippines is really rich in underwater wonders! gusto ko sana when i visit different islands in our country, i'd be able to dive.

Yes I think ganyan talaga sis. May kilala ako sa Cebu, CMAS siya, sabi nya nasa 20k pa nga binayaran nya whereas ako, I took it as a PE sa UP, 10k lang halos. I'm not sure about fun dives... Ang alam ko yung mga 4k na discover scuba na you can find sa mga resort? yun ba? Nag-ganun friend ko and parang open water dive naman siya. I think what's different if you take classes eh tuturuan ka talaga ng skills sa classes (bail-out, entry, mask clearing, how to wear your gear). Classes are usually just a few hours/sessions. Ako kasi PE yung tinake ko for 1 sem haha so matagal siya pero alam ko mabilis lang talaga siya then you can do open water dive. Open water dive---alam ko you need a number of open water dives to get certified.

If you get certified, yes, you can go diving na anywhere--diba when you go to Bohol, for example, may dive shops doon? You can join them sa dives na as long as they have dive schedules. As far as I know, this license is lifetime and international.

Lol but correct me if I'm wrong, medyo limited ang knowledge ko about diving since I took it nga as a PE
