ayoko mag drive ng manual pero yun pa din pinili ko. kinakabahan kasi ako sa change of gear kung tama ba and ayoko din maging clutch queen!  ::)

I can so relate to this because i was just forced to driving due to necessity or pwede rin by force (ng parents) hehe.

Even after taking driving lessons, i wasn't too confident, i knew the hours i spent were just for the basics (10 hours lang kaya). I have this deep fear of amusement park rides..and when i went to Enchanted Kingdom, I couldn't say no to my cousins so i ended up trying all of the rides. I thought back then, if I could do it, then so could i also drive. Ayun, so I did. (sure there were literally a few bumps involved, but take it as part of the learning process..hehe)

Next, i went overseas, and here, passing the driving test is like passing the board exam, or the bar exam..no kidding! ganun yung kaba! so how did i overcome my fear here? by force ulit...kasi sobrang mahal ng transport (i.e. with driver), so ayun, driving to save on transport costs :D

^ Kaya mo yan sis!

I just took my 10 hours driving lesson, 2 hrs per day kinuha para mas feel :-D I can say na I can drive na. Been to Manila, Paranaque, Makati, Mandaluyong at EDSA during the lessons.

I started driving with him on the passenger side, now sa likod ma sya umuupo with minimal supervision. Kaso my coach is my husband, ayaw ako i let go, takot sya hayaan ako magisa hahaha next namin, convoy naman, para makapag solo ako and with him sa likod in another car, para ma observe pa din nya ako. Eto husband ko ayaw ako i let go eh haha

I learned to drive the family car when I was 14. I got my driver's license when I turned 18. The car I'm driving is the manual type - yung stick shift na may gears. I never got to drive those automatic types, and I probably wouldn't like to drive those for the challenge.

All the time my dad taught me how to drive so there was no need for me to enroll in any school. Probably like other dads, napapagalitan ako when I make mistakes.

By the time I was 16, marunong na akong magdrive. But I have to wait for the age of 18 to carry a driver's license. All that time I only carried a student permit and I was not allowed to drive around without my dad. Pero magaling na ako noon.

As of now I'm already driving for almost two decades and started at a young age, and I could probably call myself an expert and even better than many guys in driving (as some guys told me) and even entrust me to drive their cars. Some guards pa minsan, have given up helping me backing out on easy places, as they know I could do it without their help (kasi naramdaman nila na naguguluhan ako sa kanila, as many of them do not really know how to drive - it's easy to see which guys have that expertise).

Despite that I still have some fears.

Ang isang fear ko sa driving is yung mabitin sa mga steep na paakyat na road traffic and would have to hit the brakes. Tapos i-re-release ang brakes and hit the accelerator agad to make sure that you won't roll down so you hit the car following me. I was learned the skill pero up to now I still avoid those places na matraffic at steep ang road. My place here in Baguio have lots of these places so it's not pretty much like lowlands.

Another fear which I have which I'm trying to overcome is to do long driving. Madali lang ang long drive, and I could drive fast. My biggest worry is, kung masiraan sa daan. Hassle kasi ang masiraan with no willing hand to help. I would probably overcome this fear if I would be driving a brand new car siguro kasi ngayon, I'm driving an old car and hence, those worries.

As of now I'm doing baby steps. Pinapakiramdaman ko ang car while at the same time trying to travel to nearby provinces alone. Basta may budget pang-gasolina. :-D

And yes, I've even experienced the worst - yung nawalan ako ng preno. But that didn't stop me from driving.

Ang payo ko lang mga sis, to overcome your fears in driving, is NOT to stop driving. Stopping makes you more fearful. Gets lots of experience in driving. Do this everyday, or quite too often and you'll be a confident driver behind the wheel soon enough. Seriously.

Marami akong kilalang nag-enroll sa driving school, only to see their driving skills to waste. The driving school teaches you pretty much the basics, but there is A LOT MORE to learn when you are on the road. It's pretty much a lot of decision making, and new driving skills.

My driving skills was most useful when I have to rush my dad to the hospital because of stroke. Because of that he couldn't drive anymore. I've taken over the driving chores from him at ako na ang nagda-drive sa kanya around the city when he feels like going out. Halos nasa bahay na kasi.

The memories of yesterday with dad teaching me how to drive will never be forgotten.
